Chapter 232 Mutants

Xiang Ning used his Mental Power to remove the Devourer from Balamu. The snake was on death’s door and could no longer fight.

The Devourer had recovered to its full strength, and it’d even powered up! Xiang Ning looked at it and was happy with it. Bioweapons weren’t just strong, but could also repair themselves by feeding on other beasts.

“It’s too late.” Xiang Ning was like a villain as he chuckled and chased Bull.

An invisible pressure enveloped Bull, causing him to falter. He knew that if he turned around now he would die. He also knew that, if he didn't fight back at full strength, he would also die. Xiang Ning was overwhelmingly powerful and wasn’t someone he could fight against. He was horrified. He was certain that Xiang Ning was only a tier three martial artist. How could he exude a strength above tier four?!

He had been slightly suspicious when he saw that Xiang Ning could fight against Balamu, but he rationalized it as Balamu needing to rest to restore its original power so it couldn’t go all out.

After he launched the rockets, he had forgotten about Xiang Ning. The snake was mortally wounded, and Xiang Ning had been disintegrated by the explosion. He had already forgotten how the battle went. But he was wrong, and so was everyone else. No one knew that Balamu had indeed been fighting at full strength.

If it weren’t for Xiang Ning, Balamu would have easily killed Bull.

Now, it was time for him to pay the price.

“Mountain-Splitting Slash!” Xiang Ning roared and brought the Devourer down. Bull knew it was now or never and quickly turned around and used his scissors to block Xiang Ning’s attack. He wasn’t even hoping to injure him, but would be satisfied if he could just block him!

Unfortunately, the Devourer had already eaten Balamu’s flesh and drank its blood. It was now stronger and sharper. It broke the scissors in half and left a deep gash on Bull’s body.

The Devourer drank some of his blood and its core lit up once again. Xiang Ning tried controlling it and almost all of his strength drained out of him.

Holding his few remaining healing pills, he couldn’t be bothered and swallowed them all. He no longer had the willpower to use the raffle any more; his consciousness was barely being supported by the adrenaline.

A sudden change in Bull brought his attention back to reality. Multiple pustules grew on his body and ripped his cloak apart, revealing the dirt-yellow skin. Soon, he had changed into a half bull, half man monster with red eyes.

From his screams, Xiang Ning knew that the transformation was painful. He grew wary and immediately prepared to defend against his attack. This was something that he had heard of in the past, but wasn’t something he could truly understand. He knew that when the Great Disaster had occurred, the humans were still too weak and beasts roamed the earth. Some of the researchers wanted to use beast DNA to genetically alter humans. Their initial successes were encouraging, as the mutants could fight against the beasts and protect humanity.

But the good news didn’t last long. Due to their unstable genetics, there were many dangers if they were to spread their seeds. But there was one mad scientist who wanted to test it out. He wanted to see if they could give birth to normal humans, which was the general consensus of most of the mutants. They were heroes, but had lost all human features at the same time. They, too, craved love.

Thus, a tragedy occurred. The baby was neither man nor beast, thanks to its flawed genetics. It was a human with beast traits.

The research was more or less successful, and as long as they could restore the flawed genetic code, the issue would be resolved. But for some reason, the higher-ups ordered that all experiments were to be terminated, including the test subjects.

A generation of heroes had thus become monsters. No one knew why, but all of them lost their minds and became terribly strong beasts, each of them tier five and above.

Humanity suffered greatly.

Whether or not that was the truth, no one had the answer.

Xiang Ning shook his head as he saw Bull. “To think that mutants like you still exist.” He wasn’t looking down on them, but pitying them. Humanity had paid the price for their survival, and the mutants were the sacrifice.

The ones responsible for their creation were heroes, while the mutants were the sacrifice. A tragic tale indeed.

“Hoho, looks like you know a lot more than I thought. Don’t become like me in the future.” His voice grew softer as it was replaced by the growls of a beast.

Xiang Ning could feel Bull growing stronger as his conscious mind was being destroyed.

The cult member was still broadcasting, and everyone was silent. They didn’t know that a human could become such a scary beast. The minotaur was huge! Its arms alone were larger than Xiang Ning. The difference was overwhelming, how could Xiang Ning win against it?

Fortunately, Bull had lost all of his humanity. Xiang Ning would have run if Bull still held on to his human side, but since his consciousness was no longer human, he had nothing to be afraid of.

He smiled confidently as he used Disguise to copy the pressure from the Kaiser Aurumsaur. He equipped the Sovereign’s Throne and flared out his overwhelming pressure. It was more than enough to bring the minotaur and all of the other beasts to their knees.

But he had forgotten about one thing: he still had four gates open.

If he could normally exude the pressure of the Kaiser Aurumsaur at peak tier four, his pressure right now was infinitely close to that exuded by a true Beast King, a tier seven monstrosity. With the exception of Balamu, all of the beasts present were truly intimidated.

His previous pressure was only enough to chase away beasts, but the pressure he was exuding now caused them to lay low and stay still, as if a single movement would send them to their death.

Everyone dropped what they were doing as their eyes were glued to the livestream. Even Old Zhao was surprised.
