Chapter 243 First Encounter

Within barely five minutes, Xiang Ning had defeated all five of them. He could have done the job in a minute since they were only tier two or three. He had already fought a tier four while he was a tier three, so his current opponents were nothing to him. He mainly wanted to milk some Fury Points from the men, but unfortunately they were weak and all he got were crumbs. He didn’t even get the chance to strike ten times! Perhaps due to the arrival of that celebrity from Azura, the security of the city was on higher alert than usual.

While he was collecting his crumbs of Fury Points, the police arrived. Xiang Ning identified himself as a student from Marsh City with his ID, then followed the police for a witness account. He had no choice, it was standard operating procedure.

“Are you alright? Why don’t you call your family? We might need to go to the police station to make a report, but before that, do you want to go to the hospital? I told them you might be hurt,” Xiang Ning gently said.

“I-I’m fine…. Let’s go to the police station.” The young girl stood up, smoothing her hood as she stood her ground.

“You sure you aren’t hurt?” Xiang Ning asked.

He suddenly remembered he had healing potions. If she was hurt, a potion should do her some good. However, the policemen didn’t give them any more time, so they left for the station. Xiang Ning and the girl waited in the waiting room while the five men were processed.

Xiang Ning took out his healing potion, which was in a bottle as large as his little finger. It looked like an ordinary energy drink, as the liquid inside was a faint green and it bubbled.

“Uh, if you’re not going to the hospital, you should drink this—”

A pair of small, fair hands swiped at the bottle the moment he held it out. Xiang Ning was stunned as she opened the cork and downed its contents. Wait, didn’t they teach you not to accept gifts from a stranger? But then again, only an idiot would dare pull some nonsense in a police station. That’s probably why the girl trusted him so much.

He looked down and saw a scratch wound on her knee and, for an unknown reason, felt his heart ache. It felt like something perfect had been ruined. So he took out another bottle, squatted down and opened its cork.

The girl spoke up. “Uh… can you give me another bottle? I-I can pay you for it.” This time, her face was completely exposed. She was very pretty, but compared to his precious sister, she was slightly lacking.

Yes, only slightly.

Xiang Ning handed the potion over without hesitation and took out another bottle. He didn’t think it was a pity; this was exactly what the healing potions were for, anyway. He had contributed to her injury and mental shock, it was only normal to compensate her.

When he opened the new bottle, the girl’s eyes traveled from his face to the healing potion.

He chuckled, “Don’t drink this one. I’ll apply some on your wound, the rest of the bottle is yours.”

She looked at him, puzzled, as he poured a little healing potion on his finger. It felt exactly like a fruit jelly, he didn’t blame the girl for liking it so much.

Xiang Ning gently spread the potion on her wound, which healed right before his eyes. He was astonished at the speed—did it work this quickly on all wounds? Or was it only because this wound was small?

Before he figured it out, she whispered, “My name is Annot, what’s yours?”

“Annot?” He recognized the name, though she could just be another person with it. He smiled and said, “That’s a very nice name. I’m Xiang Ning.”

“You’re special, I like you.” Annot seemed to be in a slight daze, and although her phrasing could certainly cause much misunderstanding, with Xiang Ning, she felt.… She couldn’t describe the feeling; all she wanted was to remain by his side.

He was completely different from other people. Due to her body composition, she felt repulsed when most people touched her, or when she touched others. For some inexplicable reason, or perhaps due to her outstanding aura and looks, everyone who met her would be stunned for several moments before coming to their senses. But she never felt that invisible distance with Xiang Ning, nor was she repulsed. Xiang Ning hadn’t frozen when he saw her, all he did was admire her for a brief moment and that was it.

Annot could read the look in his eyes. There was someone else whom he thought was… prettier? She couldn’t put her finger on it.

“Huh?” Xiang Ning paused, then scratched his head. “Uh, I like pretty girls, too.”

“Hehe, who doesn’t?” Annot giggled at his reply. He really was just a tall, goofy boy. “Have you heard of the song ‘Colors of the Sky’?”

“What song?” To be honest, his interest in music could be higher. He had heard no more than ten pop songs, and he wouldn’t even be able to tell you who sang the song he remembered most.

“Nothing. I just think it’s a great song, you should check it out.” Annot could tell that he wasn’t lying. He definitely hadn’t heard of the song, nor did he recognize her. She wasn’t arrogant, but she knew she was quite famous. When she had arrived at Marsh City, huge groups of interviewers and fans were waiting at the airport. Forget it, it’s normal that he hasn’t heard of it.

After providing their eyewitness accounts, Xiang Ning and Annot left the police station. He looked at the time. “It’s getting late, were you able to contact your family?”

Annot looked down without a word, shaking her head.

Xiang Ning instantly recalled how his sister used to hide under a tree, drawing circles in the sand whenever she was sulking and smiled. “If you’re having problems with them, I’m sure you can talk it out. If you trust me, I can take you to near where you live.”

“Mm.” She nodded.

Xiang Ning smiled, mounted the Windbreaker and passed her a helmet. He made sure she held on to him, then sped off toward the location she told him.

A person like Annot might not be able to ride a bike like this in her lifetime if she hadn’t met him. She felt like a new door had opened in her life. She hadn’t seen the city like this! Although Marsh City was only aesthetically average, it left a beautiful impression on her. She had never been able to experience the city view like this. When the cool breeze hit her cheeks, she happily smiled and whooped with joy.
