Chapter 495: Beg for Forgiveness (2)

“As for Professor Huang, although he made a mistake in his judgment, his motive was good. He didn’t want bad and impure things to be mixed into our academic research environment. However, he acted rather recklessly. As a result, he should reflect on this incident. It is important for him not to jump to conclusions when encountered with such a situation in the future.”

Lu Yuan collapsed to the ground. Her eyes began to lose their focus.

A wrong thought in passing had completely buried her otherwise promising future.

No one argued against such a punishment.

However, Zhai Yunsheng spoke up: “Well, as long as your motive is good, does that mean that wrongly accusing someone and verbally abusing them is okay? Please think this over. I don’t want such a thing to be on the news tomorrow. The news will definitely say that your professors and university leaders are attempting to cover up for academic fraud for one of your students.”

Upon hearing this, the faces of the university leaders paled. The expression on Professor Huang’s face became particularly unpleasant.

It was evident that Zhai Yunsheng was not satisfied with their punishment.

He was threatening them with public opinion.

The university leader hurriedly asked Professor Huang to apologize to Jian Yiling: “Professor Huang, you should apologize to Jian Yiling. You’ve wrongly accused this student.”

Professor Huang looked at Jian Yiling. He was unwilling to apologize to her.

It was incredibly embarrassing for a professor to apologize to a student in front of so many people. In fact, it was humiliating!

However, he was scared that Zhai Yunsheng would make a big deal out of a matter. If everyone heard about this, his reputation would be damaged.

And thus, the only thing that Professor Huang could do was apologize to Jian Yiling.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have jumped to a conclusion,” Professor Huang said to Jian Yiling.

However, he was only partially facing Jian Yiling as he said this.

Zhai Yunsheng sneered when he saw this: “Well, it’s okay if you don’t want to apologize. I won’t force you to apologize. However, such an insincere apology won’t make things better.”

Professor Huang immediately retorted: “Well, I’m apologizing to Jian Yiling. She hasn’t said anything yet. So why are you making a decision for her?”

Zhai Yunsheng didn’t get annoyed when he heard this. Instead, he said in an indifferent tone: “Well, does that matter? I can still help you become famous in the headlines. Do you want to be on the news?”

The university chancellor who was standing by them immediately tried to mediate the situation: “Zhai Yunsheng, we can just deal with this matter internally. There’s no need to make a big deal out of it.”

Professor Huang didn’t know who the man in front of him was. However, the university chancellor recognized him. This man had graduated from their school two years ago.

In fact, the university chancellor knew of the power that Zhai Yunsheng’s family held. If he said that he would make a big deal out of this matter, he would definitely be able to do it. It would cause a headache for the university’s administration.

Then, the university chancellor attempted to persuade Professor Huang: “Professor Huang, think carefully over what you did. If you did something wrong, then you should admit it! You should serve as a role model for others! Please show your sincerity when you apologize to Jian Yiling. Ask her to forgive you for your recklessness and hot-headedness!”

After Professor Huang heard this, he began to panic.

If this matter really turned up on the news, then the things that he was going to face would be even worse.

And thus, Professor Huang finally put away his arrogance and pride. He started in a low voice and begged Jian Yiling for forgiveness:

“Jian Yiling, what happened today was my fault. I did not think through my actions. I accused you without any clear evidence and was biased towards my own student. That was my bad. I hope you can forgive me this time. I promise I won’t make such a mistake again. When I encounter such things in the future, I promise that I will be fair and impartial.”
