Chapter 43: [Bonus ] CH 41: TIME TO OBTAIN THE TRUTH

After Adam named his new skill, he had to admit that he felt quite embarrassed, talking about Fate and whatnot.
But even though it was embarrassing, he felt good and so he decided to relax a little before going further.
After wiping away the blood from his face resulting from his nosebleed, Adam walked out of the bathroom and changed into more comfortable clothes.
He made himself a small breakfast in order to get some energy. Since he had just died and revived, he was not particularly hungry. Most likely because his body revived in the most optimal state.
But he still ate. Not only to replenish energy but also to calm his nerve a little. There was something relaxing about eating and doing normal things and he needed those things.
'Should I watch TV?'
Adam wondered for a short time before going for it.
'Zap, zap, zap.'
In the past, the entertainment world was divided into many small streaming companies which divided the watcher and forced them to buy multiple abonnements if they wanted to watch everything.
But now, the old TV channel system had been fused with the steaming one. There had been many discussions on social networks but Adam always avoided those places like the death. They were simply too toxic for him.
"Today, we are announcing the New edition of the VR game, Mythical Life."
'Huh…Something Sae might be interested in.'
He knew that VR games were quite popular. In the past, they were still quite archaic but nowadays they were so realistic that some people considered the life in the metaverse to be their true.
New laws and regulations even had to be created because of this. As it was quite dangerous and some people went as far as killing themselves in reality if their avatars in those VR were ruined. There was also the case of a crazy developer who created a VR casque that would actually kill the user if they died in the game. Thankfully, the man was arrested long before he could make victims with that game.
Mythical life was quite a popular game as it was a VRMMORPG based on exploring a world focused on myths of old gods and the like. What made this game quite attractive was that you could even meet those gods and fight against them at a high enough level. You could even romance them.
Sae had once talked to him about some R18 mods in the previous version were you could make love to them.
Adam was not surprised. Everything that existed in this world was sexualized in one way or another. One should never underestimate the energy and skills of horny gamers.

Adam frowned in disgust and felt sick in his stomach. It seemed like some crazy people were saying that since Jack only targeted prostitutes, he was not that bad and in fact was doing good for society.
At this point, one could say they were extremists but it was still somewhat understandable. But he chuckled when he heard how some people, wished they could find him and perhaps marry him. Saying that he should be someone with a lonely soul and a mission.
"Enough Tv, for today."
Switching off the TV, Adam observed his reflection on the black screen. His eyes still had this shine, that showed that he was in no way a normal human.
Until now, Adam had been hesitating about taking the quest.
Not only did he not that the power necessary, but he knew nothing about the target.
'Sigh…All of these are just excuses.'
"Genesis do you know the race of that Killer."
[I do not. But I can make an educated guess. From the information I have, the target is most likely a vampire. Most likely a new vampire or a very very weak one.]
"How sure are you about this?"
[90% percent. The margin of error is very small. It is either a ghoul or a vampire.]
All this time, he did not ask Genesis even though he could have.
He had many excuses. After all, he did not have time, he had so many things to do, and so many events happened at the same time.
But, it all boiled down to one thing.
He was afraid.
Death was scary. Even though he had died three times now, the two recent death could never compare to that first one.
The pain of having his chest pierced through. The fear of losing one life, the despair as his blood slowly left his body and he realized that this was the end of the line. The regret and sadness about leaving his mother and all those he cared about behind.
Adam did not want to face this feeling again.
He never wanted to feel so weak and powerless again.
