Feng Wu stared at them. “Bring your knees up, curl your arms around them, and bury your head in your lap. The fetus position.”
Obviously, the others didn’t know what the fetus position was.
But they understood the first part.
They held their knees together and ducked their heads before they realized what they were doing.
Feng Wu shouted, “I’m going to count down from three. At one, I want everyone to roll forward!
“Listen carefully! If you don’t follow instructions and make the wrong move, you’ll get everyone killed!”
The others gritted their teeth nervously. None of them wanted to become a burden.
“3!

“1! Roll!”
At one, Feng Wu focused all her energy on the vines.
She whipped the vines in the air, counteracting the momentum of the fall.

All four people landed.
Just as Feng Wu had instructed, they quickly rolled forward when they touched the ground.
They kept rolling until they no longer felt the momentum.
Shao Xiao was the first to stop.
He smacked into a rock, which made him see stars, and it felt like his bones had shattered.
It was so painful that he was almost in tears.
Luckily, his head had been protected. Despite the loud noise, all his wounds were superficial.
Luckily, he stopped rolling.
He lay flat on his back and heaved a sigh of relief.
He survived.
His teammates were luckier than he was because they slowly rolled to a stop.
