Having the Same Name as the Demon Lord of the Abyss

The lonely madman

The darkness obscured Ye Zun’s vision, making him powerless to resist.

The man’s breath stopped right beside his jugular vein, like a ferocious beast looking for a place for its fangs to fall. The sound of panting was even more repressed than his.

The deep, hoarse, terrifying voice whispered softly in his ear, “Does it hurt a lot?”

“……”

“It must hurt a lot ba…you are shaking.” It was spoken with a voice full of concern.

“……”

Like a lover’s murmur, “I…don’t like it when you are hurt by other people…but I just realised…I like it when you are hurting because of me very much…I can’t help but get excited.”

He laughed, the sound completely undisguised.

“You psychopath!”

“When did you recognise me…you must’ve realised early on…you’ve always been pretending not to know ba.”

“Let go!”

“I have not chained you down ah…my dear…you have always been free.” The voice was innocent and gentle.

That man, apart from covering his eyes, pressing on his head, and forcing him to lean back to expose his fragile throat, did not make any other suppressive actions.

But this was already scary enough. Wasn’t it scary enough?

A voice, low and heavy with the brightness of a smile, with no oppression as he panted intermittently with difficulty, said, “Aren’t you also…chaining me right now? En?”

Ye Zun did indeed restrain him. At the moment when his eyes were covered, when the darkness fell, his hands accurately grabbed the man’s neck in a chokehold, as if he had been on guard the entire time, fully prepared. Hands had shot out with no hesitation.

From the perspective of a bystander, the man covered Ye Zun’s eyes with his left hand, pressed his head with his right hand, and pressed the other opponent’s whole body against the testing bench. And Ye Zun, who was subdued below the man with no chance of moving, had both hands tightly wrapped around the man’s neck.

It was hard to tell who had the upper hand, who restrained who, and who controlled who.

As his strangled neck was suffocating him, the man’s laughter was slightly distorted, and he released a sigh-like breath, dejected and shaky, innocent and guiltless. “It feels good in the hands, doesn’t it…do you want to press down harder? …it’s okay…if it’s you…I also want to try…being killed like this…what does it feel like…push down harder ah!”

Every bone in Ye Zun’s shoulders, arms, and fingers was tense. He did not lessen the strength he put in his hands, but no matter how hard he squeezed, no matter how painful the suffocating feeling was, that person was still breathing hoarsely, and he was still smiling.

Pleasant and indulgent, innocent and sweet, a soft voice, like a lover’s whisper.

That overwhelming closeness and intimacy, under the cloak of darkness, almost made it seem like he was speaking directly in his head, rather standing than in front of him.

“Let go! Let go of me first!” Ye Zun’s voice quivered, sounding like he was begging for mercy, although he thought himself calm and composed.

The man looked at him closely without blinking. Because those eyes were covered by him, the face he had no control over revealed his true emotions, losing all pretence and cover, like a defenceless border. He couldn’t help but smile.

A hoarse voice, smiling, tenderly irreverent, innocently coaxing, “Squeeze it harder ah…don’t you want to try? …my life…in your hands…little by little…slowly burning away…take control…destroy…just squeeze a little harder…and your fear…will disappear.”

Every word uttered by that warm and frightening voice trembled in Ye Zun’s palm, like a butterfly spreading its wings in his heart.

Cold skin seemed to be forced to strangle a peerless work of art. But this was the neck of a demon.

“I don’t want to kill anyone, you let go!” Ye Zun’s voice was weak and strained. Sweat was dripping down.

He began to feel out of place, doubting if it was he who was strangling the man’s lifeline, or if it was the man who was strangling him.

“Is that so?” The man smiled innocently. Because his fingers tightened again from stress, further compressing the vocal cords, the voice exiting the throat was dismal and dejected, but still ending with a quivering pleasure, “But…at the wedding…you held the knife…swinging your hand back to slice that throat open…it was very handsome and smooth ah…in one go…I, saw it…it was your own doing…with no hesitation…was it not?”

“He was attacking that girl. I wanted to save her.”

The young man strangling the demon’s neck didn’t even have any more fierce emotions when it came to defending himself.

Even while covering those eyes, it was still easy to imagine the clarity and purity in them. When he frowned, those watery eyes were fragile but still pretending to be tough.

So cute ah.

Whenever his voice twisted and trembled a little more, the fingers on the neck would loosen a little, but he didn’t dare to let go. He was so agitated for nothing.

The demon smiled brilliantly and without a sound, closely looking at the face belonging to those eyes he was hiding. His own eyes held a clear and warm attentiveness, different from the disrespectful and unbridled smile formed from the rising edges of his lips.

“It’s just disfigurement…there was no intention of killing her ah…besides, they are actually already dead…it’s just ghosts…you can’t save anyone.”

“……”

He spoke softly, politely and quietly, as if they didn’t have their swords drawn and bows bent in a fight of ‘you die, I live’, but were talking heart-to-heart across a safe door*.

[T/N: 安全之门 im not sure what a safe door is]

“In fact…you guys really like the games in Demon God’s Amusement Park ba…in the human world, you can only follow the rules and live a depressing and boring life…if you go even an inch out of line, you will be punished…but in this world…you can kill whoever you want…the amusement park has seen your thoughts…so it specially gave the rule of equally dividing the reward…to let you all have a reason to cast off the shackles of hypocrisy…to face your true selves…even if you can’t make a move on other people for a while…when you face a person who is the same as you…and their identity is a ghost…then you can finally reveal your murderous intent to your heart’s content…in the name of justice.”

Ye Zun’s fingers trembled, unable to control his own strength, tightened the grip against his skin, feeling the man’s Adam’s apple rolling under his fingers.

The man’s voice became hoarse again, but he was composed, shuddering, his smile growing more and more, whispering softly as he spoke the crazy words of a dying man, “If you want me to stop… you have to do it harder…just a little harder…right now, do you really, really want to kill me…okay ah…then kill me ba.”

The cold skin under his fingers became scorching hot. There was sweat, although it was unknown whether it was the man’s, or Ye Zun’s own.

Ye Zun’s rationality was almost stretched to the limit, and he said calmly, “Psychopath, do you want to be killed that much?”

The man’s voice was always low, even when he laughed. He was clearly at a disadvantage, and had no scruples. He had a wanton smile, an excited spirit, and gleaming black eyes, but it was like he was empty and dull all the time, looking for a stimulus to rid him of these.

It was as if, once removed from the stimuli that kept him morbidly exhilarated, the depression would gradually push him to a deathly ‘virus’*.

[T/N: 逐渐消沉死去的毒株 Sorry, didn’t know what this meant, but im guessing something about dying of boredom]

He laughed in a low voice, a resplendent sound until the last second, but when the laughter stopped, and when he began to speak quietly, his voice was only downcast and soft.

“If I am killed by you…I am fine with that ah…” A long sigh, gloomy and depressed, “…it’s just changing of identities…you know…I can not die…as long as you start to feel fear…I will appear by your side…always, always appearing…any person could be me…I can be anyone by your side…”

In the darkness that could not be seen, Ye Zun was now terrified, shaking slightly, too dazed to even grasp that man’s neck.

Such a good opportunity to fight back, but the other person had no intention of breaking free. He just stood there obediently, waiting for him to react, to tighten his hands around his neck again, for those hands to turn into a shackle, to turn into a unique necklace crowned by death.

With a low and dispirited voice, he laughed warmly and lightly, whispering to him guiltlessly, “My dear…if you are tired and don’t want to continue…it will be my turn…the feeling of not being able to go up, nor come down*…you are also a man…you should be able to understand ba…it’s a little difficult to bear…”

[T/N: to be in a dilemma]

Waist and legs were tightly plastered against each other. No small reaction of the body could be concealed, let alone be ignored.

Sweat beaded on Ye Zun’s body. His white face was blindfolded by fingers, pale lips slightly parted; he was at his wits end, looking like he was about to cry, but he didn’t. He just tried his best to maintain his sanity that was about to collapse, and trembled very slightly.

“……” He wanted to curse out the man, but he didn’t know how to throw curses at people. He was just so angry, but he didn’t know how to vent his anger at this moment.

“Ai.” A long, long sigh.

The man’s voice was hushed, saying these ordinary words with a smile, a temptation that sounded like the attraction of a magnet.

At this moment, he stretched out a light sigh, innocently, but he didn’t smile again, as if he didn’t want to make the other uncomfortable.

A deep voice, without a breath of desire, even carrying some comfort, said quietly, “When a man gets the feeling of asphyxia…their body will naturally react like this…getting excited unconsciously…it’s not controlled by will…didn’t you choose to not strangle me to death on purpose…because you wanted to torture me?”

“I’m not sick in the head! You let go!”

Ye Zun felt as if he was being roasted on a fire. The back of his body was extremely cold, and the part pressed against that person was extremely hot.

Sweat turned into tears, wetting his eyelashes. A trembling voice, a trembling body, as if his own neck was being strangled.

He didn’t know what he was angry about, or if some other emotions were dominating him.

But the demon did not seize such a weakness to go further, seeming to be completely unaffected by the state of his body. Once he stopped smiling, he didn’t feel sick in the head anymore. He even felt extraordinarily empathetic, kind and abstinent, even the breath that was almost within reach was pure.

He said, softly and tenderly, “It’s okay…I like it very much…when your hand is on my neck…you can do anything to me…torturing me like this…is also okay…although it’s difficult to bear…I will endure it…I won’t be angry with you…are you angry? …or are you shy?”

Ye Zun felt that his sanity was on the verge of collapsing. He didn’t know if it was sweat or tears that made his eye sockets painfully sting. His heartbeat, his pulse, his brain, they were all in a mess.

He began to murmur some words that might not be understood, or words that might be considered weak.

“I don’t want to torture you. I don’t like violence, and I don’t like killing people. If I can, I don’t even want to kill ghosts.

“But I have no other choice. Do you think being disfigured does not count as being killed? Even if you become a ghost, it still hurts when you are harmed. Even when you’re dead, you will always be afraid of that moment when you died. Although you may not feel pain, Kaoru Nogawa was hurting so much. There is no way I can forget her.

“Even if you say it’s hypocritical justice, there is no way I can ignore them. If it was me, if I was in such a desperate situation, I hope that someone will come to save me. Because this is what I think, that is why I do this.

“I also, don’t want to kill you.”

The reason why he strangled his neck, is just, is just because he’s scared.

So, please, let go!

The wet eyelashes, the tears at the corners of the eyes, the quivering eyelids, the palms covering the eyes that isolated them from the light was enough to feel everything.

“Is that so?” The man smiled loosely, like a demon without empathy or sympathy.

But that hand, in the end, was still the first to slowly loosened its hold, away from Ye Zun’s eyes, no longer pressing his head, and not even pressing against his body anymore.

Ye Zun, who had gained freedom and light, suddenly shoved the other man’s body away, staggering and running out immediately, holding his breath, running far away in that one breath, not paying mind to where he was running to, not even daring to look at that person.

The man who remained where he stood leaned on the testing bench, coughing deeply and feeling his neck as he let out delighted and sluggish laughter, and then a long, long sigh. As if he was very interested. As if he was satiated after eating.

“You don’t want to kill me? Then, it is my turn to kill you. My dear.”

……

Mo Fei was walking in the peach blossom forest.

Before, the strange lake suddenly surged up like a wave in the sea, and the rope he threw to Ye Zun snapped. He was helpless.

Soon, the lake, the ghost, and Ye Zun all disappeared.

This was the first time Mo Fei had encountered such a situation in an instance. Of course, if it was himself, he would not care about the resentful spirit in the lake. Even if he was accidentally tricked into it by a trap, the first thing to do was to find a way to escape the ghost.

Things have gone off plan, and Mo Fei wasn’t too entangled. He felt that Ye Zun probably hasn’t died and should still be somewhere in the instance.

Mo Fei glanced at his watch. “The top priority is to get out of here. If there is no mistake, everyone should have entered by now. When those resentful spirits’ obsessions reappear to the people who entered, it’ll probably be the right time to exit.”

Of course, if those people are unlucky and die inside, there will be fewer people going out.

But it doesn’t matter, those who can share the rewards equally with him will not exceed three people, and he only left one vacant spot for his chosen companion.

——I am such a generous friend. Aren’t I!

Because he knew how things could play out, Mo Fei was easy-going and calm from beginning to end.

When he met Yin Xiaoyu in the peach blossom forest, he was not surprised in the slightest.

But when he walked to the front of Yin Xiaoyu, he deliberately let anxiety, worry and surprise appear on his face.

“Xiaoyu, you’re here, are you alright?”

Yin Xiaoyu really didn’t look to be alright. Her hair was dishevelled, her whole body a mess, squatting on the ground, covering her ears and shivering, as if she had encountered something terrifying and was frightened .

Mo Fei didn’t approach her rashly. He stood a few steps away from her, and first called out to her to remind her of his presence.

He has more experience in games, and he knows that such a person traumatised by their fear may attack people who suddenly appear indiscriminately.

Yin Xiaoyu trembled for a while. As if she finally returned to reality, she slowly put down the hands covering her ears, and gradually turned her head to look at Mo Fei.

Seeing her face, Mo Fei instantly took several steps back.

The person in front of him had a pair of white eyes, and a pale face full of permeating horror. It was very clearly a female ghost.

Mo Fei held vigilance, surprise and apprehension in his eyes, but no obvious fear or panic.

With his hands behind his back, he pulled off the exorcism beads on his wrists.

But the female ghost didn’t attack him. She just smiled at him, a very ghostly smile.

For a moment, in the surroundings of the dark peach blossom forest, it seemed as if something rushed towards him from every direction.

Mo Fei only had time to turn his head and catch a glimpse before he was submerged in the pink mist in an instant.

……

Yin Xiaoyu has been delirious for a long time. Ever since she saw Jiang Yucheng’s body hanging in the peach forest, ever since hallucinations appeared around her, she has been delirious.

Not just simple hallucinations, but visual hallucinations and auditory hallucinations.

Horrifying and strange thoughts will suddenly appear in her mind and appear on her phone.

Moreover, whenever someone died, a short ghost video would be sent to her phone.

Even if she doesn’t charge her phone, even if she forcibly powers it down, or even if she smashes the phone until it breaks, as long as the time comes, an intact phone will appear in front of her, and the short video will be played automatically.

All kinds of topics, pervading every opening possible, almost driving her crazy.

【 Be careful, that man is going to kill you. 】

Not only that, a sudden voice kept appearing in her mind.

At first, Yin Xiaoyu still remembered that she was a player of Demon God’s Amusement Park, and this world was one of the instances, and she was the female protagonist in the instance, and everything she encountered was part of the plot written in the script, and she was just playing the heroine.

But slowly, she began to become unable to distinguish between the two.

Of course, Mo Fei, the first person she asked for help from, knew about her seeing the ghosts and hallucinations.

Mo Fei has been helping her all this time, and even found a grandmaster to find a solution for her.

“This is because your eight characters and those evil spirits have clashed. The ghost is looking for a scapegoat, and it is useless to just sit and wait around.”

Since the ‘idling around’ method was useless, of course, there were other extreme methods that can be used.

This method was, to let other people block the evil spirit for her.

That was why there was a master who allowed everyone to reply to the ghost’s messages and strengthen the bond and connection between these ordinary people and the evil spirit.

When Mo Fei was tied up, it was Yin Xiaoyu who knocked out the two female influencers, and it was her who loosely tied him up.

It was she and Mo Fei who dragged the two girls into the array.

When they were doing these things, Yin Xiaoyu’s state was unclear.

It wasn’t until she also entered this array that she slowly woke up and realised what she had done.

In other words, she was completely in sync with the evil spirit.

【 Do you like this man very much? 】

“Like ah.”

【 He wants to kill you. Everything you encounter has his fingerprints on it. 】

“En, I didn’t know at first, I didn’t want to believe it, but now it’s clear, and I understand.”

【 He wants to kill you, don’t you hate him? 】

“On the contrary, I began to love him.”

【 Why? 】

“Because, only I know what kind of person he is. He is completely mine.”

【 Do you want to save him? Do you think you can change him? 】

“No, I can’t save anyone, and I can’t save myself.”

【 He will kill you, and he will leave this place. Because he kills you, he will live well, and he will live better. 】

“I know, so I won’t let him leave me. He has to stay here forever, stay with me forever.”

【 …… 】

“Now you know, not only him, but I can also become more dangerous and more terrifying than him.”

Yin Xiaoyu laughed, her eyes black. The curve of her smile was the same as that of the evil spirit.

What’s wrong with being an evil spirit? At least there was no need to fear the Demon God’s Amusement Park anymore, as she has also become a part of them, and she also has power that ordinary people cannot contend with. She finally won’t be afraid anymore. She has finally become stronger.

What an amazing feeling.

“Mo Fei, don’t you think so? My dear.”

……

In the season when peach blossoms are in full bloom, there were lovers everywhere on campus.

But there were also people who chose to break up at this time.

Mo Fei felt a little strange. He recalled that he was here to persuade his girlfriend who had broken up, to beg her not to leave him.

However, when Mo Fei thought of Yin Xiaoyu, there was nothing in his heart that could be called ‘love’.

——Do I not love her anymore? Then why do I need to beg her?

——And it seems that there is no other plan that can find her useful for?

Perhaps there was, but he couldn’t think of it right now.

That being the case, he planned to leave this place immediately.

But his eyes were covered by a pair of small hands behind him, letting go just as quickly. Yin Xiaoyu’s sweet smile appeared in front of his eyes, holding his arm, saying with cute affectionate, “Have you waited long? I won’t be late again next time la.”

Mo Fei thought about what he wanted to do before, but the thoughts in his head were like a pile of sand, unable to clump together at all.

“Let’s go ba,” said Yin Xiaoyu.

Then, might as well go ba.

His mind was not with him. No matter what he did, he couldn’t muster the energy to care, and he had a persistent feeling that he had forgotten something important.

Moreover, he felt that there were some strange things around him.

As in, there were ghosts. Many ghosts.

“Dummy, how can there be ghosts in real life?” Yin Xiaoyu tilted her head in a cute way, smiling coquettishly. “It’s because you like supernatural stories too much. But it’s okay, I will protect you, my dearest.”

Mo Fei frowned slightly. Even if the other party said so, he didn’t feel relieved at all.

And, slowly, he began to feel that his girlfriend seemed to be the most terrifying existence here.

——So it turns out, I am haunted by a ghost? Let me think about how to resolve this.

Thoughtful, he smiled naturally at Yin Xiaoyu beside him.

Yin Xiaoyu also looked at him, smiling sweetly without blinking, with curved eyebrows and black pupils.

——You want to leave me ah. If so, how can I destroy you?

……

Ye Zun ran in the red mist, running, before stopping slowly.

A familiar figure stood on the stone by the roadside, with their back turned to him.

Long and beautiful hair, an androgynous young man who looked like he came out of a 2D world.

Ye Zun walked over. “Ye Zi?”

The person standing quietly on the stone was Ye Zi. He felt like he hadn’t seen him for a long time.

Ye Zi raised his eyes to look at him. “What are you doing?”

Ye Zun froze for a moment. He suddenly couldn’t remember what he was doing just now. “Run…running.”

Ye Zi watched the stream beside the road. “En.”

Standing at his side, Ye Zun also felt his heart gradually calm down. “It feels like I haven’t seen you for so long. I don’t know why, but seeing you here healthy and well, my heart feels a little happy, as if whatever scary thing happened before, I can now let go in my heart.”

The outline of Ye Zi’s eyes drooped in a fine curve, chilling yet docile. “I’m sorry.”

Ye Zun frowned, puzzled. “Why are you apologising?”

Ye Zi faced him. “Because you wanted to break up with me, I was so heartbroken that I said I was going to commit suicide.”

Ye Zun’s lips parted slightly: “……”

——Break up, commit suicide?

When did he do such an atrocious thing to Ye Zi?

Ye Zun was at a loss, his Adam’s apple rolling. “I don’t know, I seem to have forgotten something. I’m sorry.”

Ye Zi looked at him. “Did you also forget about the breakup?”

Ye Zun hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

Ye Zi’s eyes were bright and black. He pursed his lips quietly and smiled. “Are we reconciled?”

“Reconciled,” Ye Zun immediately replied.

A second later, the young man stepped forward and hugged him tightly.

With the sudden, intimately close contact, his body automatically turned on the defensive.

Ye Zun froze slightly, the knot on his throat rolling several times, and diverted his attention. “Why, why did I break up with you?”

Ye Zi hugged him tightly. There was a slight, perverted and cold smile in his raised eyes, but his voice was still melancholy. “Because, you fell in love with someone else.”

“Some…someone else? Who?”

“A man named Lin.”

When that name came out of nowhere, Ye Zun’s heart suddenly jumped very fast, completely out of control.

Ye Zi hugged him very tightly and undoubtedly felt the change in his heartbeat. He asked softly, “So, you really do like that person ah?”

The sense of guilt made Ye Zun’s entire body tense up. “I…I’m very sorry, but it’s not what you think.”

“Compared to Ye Zi, you like Lin more ah. What do you like about him?” The betrayed lover spoke lightly, not blaming him.

Ye Zun’s eyebrows furrowed. “I, I don’t know.”

He didn’t dare to have any thoughts about the priest, it’s just that, when he heard that name out of nowhere, his heart began to jump by itself, out of his control.

But he didn’t know how to make Ye Zi believe him.

“My apology, I didn’t eavesdrop on purpose, but, were you talking about me just now?” The familiar deep and gentle voice suddenly appeared at this time.

Ye Zun’s eyes widened as he looked at the man passing by.

Lin was wearing a black uniform, holding a briefcase in his hand, as if passing by while on his way to class. He looked as polite as he remembered, having a humble and warm appearance, a restrained and reserved smile on his handsome face, and clear eyes with long eyelashes. The man’s head tilted slightly, watching him curiously with questions in his eyes.

“En, if I am not mistaken, you are saying, you have a special liking towards me?”

Those beautiful eyes, like black pure crystals soaked in a clear and cool mountain spring, possessed an intensity that misled people.

Ye Zun’s heart was beating wildly. His lips opened slightly, and he looked at the man helplessly. “Father, I…”

Ye Zi, who still held him, spoke lightly and quietly, “Now you know, what an atrocious thing you have done.”

Ye Zun frowned, like a deer falling into a trap, stepping back unconsciously, breaking away from his embrace. “I’m sorry, but I, I don’t know how…”

The tips of his ears turned red, perhaps from the panic of doing something wrong, or perhaps from being caught in the tension of groundless and wrong accusations. A heat started to burn hot in his heart, making eyes fill with water vapour.

The two people stood on one side each, looking at him together.

A cold and melancholy, androgynous and beautiful young man; a mature and elegant, dignified and gentle handsome man.

From a certain angle, there was a small resemblance.

Like a person’s past and future, looking at him at the same time.

“Choose one ba.” Ye Zi looked at him quietly. “No matter who you choose, I will respect your choice.”

The priest looked at him. In his clear eyes, his focus on him was restrained and reserved. He whispered softly, “I am so happy.”

“Choose one ba.”

“Won’t you come with me?”

“Who do you like more?”

“Just follow your heart.”

“You can be honest.”

“I, too, like you very much.”

The corners of lips hidden in the darkness rose unintentionally.

There was joyful anticipation hidden in those dark and clear eyes.

——My dear, what will you choose?

Ye Zun frowned, uncertain, his lowered eyes trembling. “I don’t know.”

He subconsciously felt that his relationship with these two should be like this, but why is it suddenly necessary to choose one? What exactly went wrong? Why is it like this?

“Then come back to me.” Ye Zi stretched out his hand.

Lin walked directly to him and took his hand. “Let’s go back ba.”

He had never been able to refuse the priest and began to walk forward with the man. But, he couldn’t help but look back at Ye Zi.

Ye Zi was also looking at him, with a beautiful and cold face, clear and frail eyes, as if they were covered with cool water, as if he was crying silently. “Have you never loved me? Even if only for a moment…”

Behind Ye Zun, a figure walked out of the darkness. An arm in a white shirt was wrapped in bandages and oozing blood. With a murderous face, and an expression influenced by evil, under Ye Zun’s wide-open eyes, they raised the knife in their hand and bolted toward Ye Zun without hesitation.

From back to front, it pierced the young man’s slender neck in an instant.

The snow-white blade passed through the delicate Adam’s apple, laid bare in front of Ye Zun. Blood red as a ruby dripped down.

Ye Zi raised his head slightly. His melancholy eyes were still watching him, gradually turning darker and lifeless. Blood spilled from the corners of his lips, “……”

His lips moved, as if he wanted to speak, but the blade that killed him severed his vocal cords, cutting off the very last opportunity.

“Ye Zi!”

Mo Fei smiled, full of arrogance and evil, grabbing Ye Zi’s shoulder as if he was grabbing a doll, carelessly pulling out the knife. “I told you before ba, that I will kill you! Now is the time for me to deliver on that promise! “

He saw Ye Zun, frozen with a white face, and said with a smile, “Why do you look like that? You probably don’t know ba, but this guy is the scariest existence among us. Only you don’t know what kind of horrifying eyes he has when he stands behind you, looking at everyone. But you don’t need to be afraid anymore.”

The knife was extracted violently. Blood kept pouring out from that lovely and slender neck.

The murderer who killed him was still laughing, preparing to stab a second time.

Everything had happened unexpectedly, almost in the blink of an eye. Things could never be undone.

Ye Zun’s eyes were red. The tears never stopped flowing.

“Stop it, stop it! Shen Yuan, I’ll kill you, I’m really going to kill you!”

He rushed over with no regard, snatching Ye Zi’s body from Mo Fei’s hands, embracing him tightly.

Mo Fei frowned, looking at him in bewilderment. “Shen Yuan? Isn’t that your own name? Why are you calling me that?”

Ye Zun hugged Ye Zi, choking without an answer.

He already understood that the Mo Fei in front of him was the real one, not Shen Yuan’s imitation.

But, even if it is not the terrifying Shen Yuan, what can he do? Ye Zi died. Ye Zi was murdered.

Mo Fei nodded and murmured, “I get it now. You’ve gone insane. Is it because of this psycho? Did you really fall in love with him?”

He looked like he was in disbelief. It seemed like not only Ye Zun had gone insane, but he himself was also insane. “Although this guy is pretty good looking, he is a monster through and through. How can you love him? Why would anyone love him? Get out of the way, I’m not sure that one stab killed him completely, I need to do it a few more times. It’s best to cut off his head entirely.”

Ye Zun glared at him with cold hatred through his tears. “I won’t let you. Before that, I will kill you first.”

Mo Fei looked at him in astonishment, opening his mouth, showing an expression like he was about to laugh out of extreme anger, far more than the initial lone disbelief. “Did you actually not notice it? Just now you thought there were two people beside you ba, but look now, where is the other one? Ah?”

Even without looking, Ye Zun already understood. The priest from before was an illusion. It was impossible for the priest to appear in this instance world.

Looking at his expression, Mo Fei knew that he had also realised this, and felt like he was about to explode in furious laughter. “And you still don’t understand who pulled that trick? It was just you and him ba, you didn’t choose him, but chose the other illusion. If I hadn’t appeared, he would have killed you immediately! It was me who saved you! Me! And yet you’re glaring at me because of this monster?”

He could no longer control his rage and stepped on the peach tree beside him. His manic state was close to insanity, or to say, he had already gone crazy.

Nevertheless, Ye Zun didn’t understand why he did this at all.

“Ye Zi won’t harm me.”

“He won’t harm you?” Mo Fei was going crazy with anger. He took deep breaths without pause and smiled with a horrible appearance. “I liked you very much at first, and I really did want to play games with you forever. If I’m being honest, I still like you a lot even now. But, why are you as stubborn as those idiots? Why do you refuse to listen to me? You don’t know good from bad!”

Although he was clearly very disappointed, he still seemed to have expectations for Ye Zun, hoping that the other person would wake up.

Ye Zun hugged Ye Zi, clutching his bleeding neck with his fingers. Thinking how this person had died, his heart seemed to be in so much pain that it could no longer beat.

He faced the murderer who killed Ye Zi. “I don’t want you to save me. You killed Ye Zi, so I will kill you.”

“Kill me?” In Mo Fei’s eyes, compared to the rage and madness, there was more paranoia and resentment, as well as loneliness. But he smiled; he made himself smile on purpose.

The look in this person’s eyes was real. He really intended to kill him for that Ye Zi.

“Ah! Ahhhhh!” He gritted his teeth and kicked the peach tree next to him fiercely, causing peach blossoms to fall all over the ground. However, his eyes were on Ye Zun.

“It’s been like this ever since the past. Even though they were obviously wrong, even though I was clearly right, even though I clearly told them to the smallest detail, those idiots just don’t understand human speech, they just want to do whatever they want. It really is so infuriating. Sure enough, compared to bad guys, idiots are even more hateful.”

“Once the facts prove that I am right, they will not admit their mistakes, but will only come back to suppress me. It is because there are too many idiots like this that the real world is so painful, just endless oppression and hypocrisy. For people like us, except for when we pretend to be mediocre, we can hardly breathe and live well.”

“But, why? Why is it still the same in this world? Why even you? He is clearly not some good person, he is a monster a hundred times worse than me. You should see how he kills people. But you, why do you defend him so much? Why do you like him so much?”

The knot on Mo Fei’s throat rolled. There was a paranoid madness in his eyes, shining brightly. He still looked like a young man, but he seemed like he was broken a long time ago. Who knew if it was because of the amusement park, or because of the world.

“I thought we were the same. Why… That person, and you, and me, all of us, didn’t we all come to know each other at about the same time? Did I treat you poorly? Why did you choose to be with him? How can you kill me for him? How are you not willing to come to my side?”

Ye Zun looked at him with tears pooling his eyes. “I am not the same as you, and I don’t want to understand you. You can find someone else.”

“Are you laughing at my wishful thinking?” Mo Fei looked at him arrogantly and blankly, “Do you think I haven’t tried looking for someone else? But none of them were good. Just one look was enough for me to be certain that I didn’t like any of them. When I saw you, this strong idea came to me, that I wanted to have you as my companion.”

Ye Zun quietly looked at him. “I don’t feel that way about you.”

“I know.” Mo Fei laughed, a mocking sound for himself, and looked straight at him. “But, who cares. If I was rejected in the real world, maybe I would force myself not to care to preserve my self-esteem, or maybe I would be angry and decide to hate you instead. But in this world, I can do whatever I want, and I can satisfy myself.”

“Although you are stubborn and not smart enough, I still liked you the moment I saw you. Although I don’t know exactly what it is that I like, I just want a person like you to play with me. So what if you don’t feel the same about me? I just have to kill everyone else, until there is only the two of us left. Oh yeah, and that ticket, I have already bound you to me. As long as you live, you have to come with me. You don’t have any other choice but to play with me.”

He laughed.

Ye Zun looked into his eyes. Although he was egotistical, and even though his smile was angry and provocative, he had very lonely eyes.

A long time ago in the real world, Ye Zun had also met people with such eyes, and it was not just one.

For Ye Zun, those were strangers he didn’t know. Or maybe they had met a few times, but he just couldn’t remember their names.

But they seemed to be very familiar with him.

However, they didn’t really have the intention of being friends with him.

Suddenly blocking his way, appearing in front of him like a blackmailer.

Only making Ye Zun stop there for a few minutes, listening to what they have to say about themselves.

It was like being treated as a safe hole in a tree, a strange experience.

The current Mo Fei was like an enhanced version of those people.

If it was in the real world, Ye Zun would be willing to try to understand him, but now…

He looked at the young man who had stopped breathing and died peacefully in his arms, gently and carefully placing him on the fallen leaves in the grass, with tears overflowing.

“We can’t be friends, even in the real world, I can’t be friends with you. I probably know why you think you like me. Because we are different, people with different thoughts in different worlds, because we can never understand each other, because you will never become someone like me, so you want to tie me to yourself.”

He stood up and stared directly at Mo Fei.

“Your life is probably very unsatisfactory ba. You want to escape, you want to change your way of life, but you are used to it, and it is impossible to really change. So the more you don’t understand someone, the more someone appears to be made from an unimaginable idea, the more attracted you are. You don’t like me, you’re just curious about me. However, I don’t have the same curiosity about you, nor pity, nor understanding.”

He faced Mo Fei calmly. “Right now, you can kill me, just like you killed Ye Zi. Because if I’m not dead, I will do everything I can* to murder you.”

[T/N: 千方百计: a thousand ways, a hundred plans]

Mo Fei’s pupils were trembling unceasingly, angry and confused, isolated and paranoid, but he was smiling, a smile more angry than Anger.

“What is it about him? What I don’t have, what I can’t get, why can he easily have it? He’s also a monster, he’s even more of a monster than me, so why can he have it? Why do you like him? Why can he be loved by others but I can’t?”

He had already decided not to sympathise with the murderer who killed Ye Zi, but Ye Zun’s eyes still showed a slight ripple.

“No one taught you ba.”

“Huh?” Thinking he was being ridiculed, Mo Fei just kept smiling like this, looking at him in disbelief, furious but as if hurt.

Ye Zun flatly said, “You should have been taught this in kindergarten. But never mind that, since I have only recently learned it, slowly. If you like someone, you want to be friends with him. Starting from strangers, the correct way to become close friends is to walk up to him, greet him in a friendly manner, and say, can I play with you?”

Mo Fei didn’t understand, just looking directly at him. “Didn’t I also, tell you very frankly, I like you, and want to play with you? But you said no. You rejected me, but accepted him.”

Ye Zun watched him. “That’s not true. I was with Ye Zi, because we were both scared, but we wanted to protect each other. We really were playing together all this time. But you weren’t, you were playing all of us by yourself, and then you came up to me like a villain, saying you like me, saying you want to play with me. This isn’t us playing together. From the very beginning, you were only playing with yourself. You were rejected because everyone didn’t want to be played with.”

“How childish.” Mo Fei was stunned for a moment, then commented with a sneer.

Ye Zun: “Probably ba.”

He rolled up his sleeves calmly and looked at Mo Fei quietly with clear eyes. “If you survive, the next time you meet a playmate who you really want to play with as a team, try doing it like I told you. But, you may not have the chance. Because I will do my best to kill you. You will be the first living person I kill, or, the one who kills me.”

“Ha.” Mo Fei waved the knife in his hand. “You’re still wrapped in bandages, are you sure you want to die for nothing? After staying in the Demon God’s Amusement Park for a long time, will everyone go insane? It’s just someone you met in this instance, or maybe it’s just an NPC. You want to risk your life killing me, for him? You’ve gone mad, haven’t you?”

Ye Zun didn’t look back at Ye Zi’s body, but when he thought of him, his eyes began to wetten slightly, and his heart ached.

“I have not gone crazy yet, but if, because I am afraid that I will be hurt and die, no matter how sad and pained I am in my heart, I don’t dare to fight and take revenge for my important person, if this is the case, the most important thing will be lost sooner or later. When that time comes, I will definitely go crazy, and I will break. In order to keep myself from going crazy, I must kill you now.”

The author has something to say:

I have always wanted to explore the idea that the possible changes of human nature in extreme environments are not just out of selfishness in order to survive, by using whatever means. It should be more of a breakthrough beyond the body, beyond life and death, and on the spiritual level.

There are too many directions that can be written in a horror infinite flow, so I couldn’t resist opening this topic.

Yin Xiaoyu, Mo Fei, ordinary passers-by, Ye Zun, or, the one watching all the changes unconsciously being affected, the abyss itself.

What were you thinking when you watched Ye Zun risk his life because of Ye Zi’s death?
