Having the Same Name as the Demon Lord of the Abyss
Peeping ghost eyes

Ye Zun remained motionless on the bed, thinking about where he could get a breakthrough.

In the darkness, apart from the sound of the door opening, there was only dead silence.

In a split second, he couldn’t tell whether someone had opened the door and left, or left it like that after they opened the door and were now just standing there looking at him inside, or perhaps, they had already walked in without a sound.

After all, Ye Zun was not successful in pretending to be asleep this time as he was last night. He didn’t deliberately adjust his breathing, and experienced people would know that he was just pretending to sleep.

Going on like this was not an option. Ye Zun was no longer the same ‘Him’ he was from the first instance. He passively waited for the plot to start and followed the rhythm of the ghosts. He already understood that the correct way is to act one step ahead of the ghosts, before the danger arrives, and control the rhythm in his own hands.

Taking a deep breath, Ye Zun turned over, and under the covers of the blanket and his fingers, he slowly opened his eyes ever so slightly.

The door was ajar; this was not an illusion. But, there was no one at the door.

Ye Zun immediately looked to his left and right, observing the room.

The bedroom was not very big and had an unobstructed view.

But the bed that was also made into a slide was a small two-floor structure, and Ye Zun slept on the second floor, which meant that there was an unavoidable blind spot on the floor.

He sat up, leaning forward slightly. His pupils dilated by a fraction.

On the ground level with the edge of the bed the black top of a head appeared bit by bit, like a person hiding there was slowly straightening up.

Ye Zun had no time to be afraid. He opened his eyes wide, unblinking, and looked at the person, or ghost, that appeared.

However, before the person completely stood up straight and revealed their face, in less than the blink of an eye, that figure disappeared from Ye Zun’s sight.

Disappeared? No, they should still be in the room, they are just out of sight.

Thinking about how the other person might be getting closer to him…

——Will I be killed again?

After a moment of panic, Ye Zun tried his best to calm down.

——There are still three chances to load the file. Before I die, there must be at least a clear breakthrough.

In an urgent situation, Ye Zun remembered something.

Evil Spirit’s Eye… Pupil of Sin… Being regarded as the same kind by ghosts.

He didn’t quite understand the usefulness of this title before. He only used this to deter the demon guards at the Nightmare Border, but last night the game suddenly reminded him that because of this title, ghosts regarded him as the same kind.

Ye Zun pursed his lips, raised his right hand, and covered his right eye. Half of his vision went dark, but everything else was normal.

He dropped his right hand, the rate of his breathing growing incrementally faster, and raised his left hand steadily, pausing for a moment before covering his left eye.

An expanse of darkness.

It wasn’t just the left eye that was covered, but his right eye as well, as if something was blocking it.

He felt like his heart was frozen, beating very slowly.

Ye Zun vaguely understood what was going on. He didn’t blink, and very, very slowly leaned his body back, distancing himself.

Light came in from around his right eye, but the view directly ahead was still dark.

He saw a black and white pupil, fastened close to his own eyes.

What Ye Zun saw with his right eye was the other person’s eyes.

And, as the distance increased, he finally saw the other person’s true face.

Wearing white pyjamas, the face and skin were as pale as the wall. Long black hair covered the face, and through a slit in the curtain of hair, a ghost with black and white eyes peeked out.

The moment Ye Zun saw it, the ghost also saw Ye Zun, and instantly opened its black void-like mouth.

But this was not a dream, and Ye Zun was not the little girl from the dream last night. After passing through these instance worlds, he was no longer afraid after only seeing a ghost.

Especially in this world. When he realised that humans may be more terrifying than ghosts, he treated the appearance of ghosts even more normally.

Not only that, but he even breathed a sigh of relief when he found out that the thing checking rooms in the night was a ghost and not a human.

Ye Zun already knew that, in theory, as long as he fears nothing, ghosts can not harm him.

It’s just that no matter how firmly one believes in the theory, as long as you are a human putting this theory in practice, you can’t completely control your fear.

Even now, Ye Zun couldn’t say with confidence that he did not feel the slightest bit of fear.

However, he knew very well that this negligible fear was not enough to give the ghost power to kill him.

Ye Zun maintained his pose of covering his left eye and looked at the ghost.

——Who are you? Tell me, what happened here in the past?

The ghost opened its mouth and screamed, with no human emotions but death and resentment, an existence almost devoured all living beings.

A black dead air enveloped Ye Zun’s world, as if in the centre of a hurricane. He did all he could to keep his heartbeat regular and unaffected.

There was silence, and the darkness slowly receded into normality.

As if watching from one perspective inside a dream, Ye Zun couldn’t see himself. He was like a disembodied mass floating in the air.

The house was still this house. The furnishings looked a little newer than the current ones, but the items and decoration were full of an antique feeling.

The cries from children, and the reproach from a woman.

He floated over, as if going through the walls and ceilings of the house, a straight path right through.

He saw the big sister of the twin ghosts. She was still a normal little girl at the moment, holding her mouth and crying, tears rolling in her eyes.

The woman with long hair and wearing a white skirt had a dreary and depressed face, like she was sick. Her skin was sallow and her spirit was unhealthy.

She picked up something on the bed smoothly, like a slender self-scratching bamboo handle, and beat the little girl with a backhand slap.

The little girl didn’t dare to hide, and stood there waiting for her to hit herself.

“Why did you break the vase and dirty your clothes? Why are you disobedient?”

“Mama, Mama.” The little girl, who was holding back her sobs, stretched out her palms to let her hit them. “Mama, I was wrong, I will never do it again.”

“Do you two want to piss me off to death? Do you two want me to die early, so you can call that bitch of a vixen ‘Mama’?”

“Mama, Mama…”

“Don’t call for me, if it wasn’t for you two, I would have divorced a long time ago. Why would I want to stay in this family like I’m stuck in a prison!” The woman put down the thing in her hands and sat on the edge of the bed in a daze.

“Mama…wu wu…” The little girl bit her lip. “Mama, hit me ba, you will feel better when you’re done.”

“Shut up, shut up, it’s all because of you disappointments…” The woman beat the little girl while gnashing her teeth, and couldn’t help crying out, “What sins have I committed, for God to make me meet you.”

Another woman’s voice came from downstairs. “Beating her children again? Don’t blame me if my words are hard to hear,  but if it’s insanity, it’s better to be sent to a mental hospital. I heard that someone got sick and picked up a knife to kill their entire family, including the elderly and the children, tsk tsk tsk tsk.”

The woman upstairs who had calmed down was stimulated again because of the woman’s words, with her breathing growing rapidly once again. Her eyes widened and stared straight, her mood becoming unstable again, and her chest was filled with anger and resentment.

The little girl was so frightened that she kept silent, also listening to the words coming from downstairs with her eyes wide open.

“Just when will she leave?” the woman downstairs complained in a pretentious voice.

“It’s already been signed, but she is like this. It’s not easy to ignore the status of wife and husband, after all, she is the mother of my child.” The man’s voice was perfunctory, holding back his impatience.

The woman upstairs suddenly stood up, clutching her hair. “Signed? It’s already been signed? When the hell did I sign?”

Her talking made the voice of the woman downstairs indistinct. The vague pestering of the man could be heard, complaining about her grievances, wanting him to marry her earlier.

The woman upstairs grew more and more furious as she listened. She wandered around the room and found a pair of scissors on the dressing table.

The semi-circular mirror reflected her countless hideous faces.

The woman held the scissors and rushed downstairs.

Ye Zun also floated downstairs with her.

Downstairs was dead silent. No one was there; there was no talking woman, and no man.

As if everything just now was part of the woman’s auditory hallucination. However, Ye Zun also heard those words just then.

“You bitch, come out ah? Come out!”

He floated after the woman out of the house and looked at the house he had just walked out of. He realised that the house in front of him was not exactly the same as Gu-laolao’s villa. Gu-laolao’s villa had five floors, while this one only had two and a half floors, with the half being a small attic.

The two-and-a-half-storey house is also very small, with not many rooms, completely inferior to the villa in the future. It seemed that the five-floor villa came on this land after this house was demolished and rebuilt.

The woman searched in the rooms downstairs, like a headless chicken.

A petrified little girl stood at the doorway of a room. The little girl looked very similar to the little girl who was getting beaten upstairs. It was the other twin.

She cried and sobbed, looking at the woman. “Mama, don’t look for it anymore. Baba and that auntie left.”

“Left? Where did they go?” The woman was suspicious and gritted her teeth.

“Say it…say it’s to buy a ring…a ring that is as beautiful and sparkling as Mama’s.”

The little girl’s words drove the woman, whose sanity was already reaching dangerous levels, mad. She yelled like a madman, spitting curses, grabbing at her hair. The scissors in her hand destroyed the walls around her.

Of course, the little girl crying “wu wu” annoyed her even further. She waved the scissors around. “Shut up! It’s noisy as hell, you’re not allowed to cry!”

The little girl immediately covered her mouth to keep herself from making a sound. With big tears rolling in her eyes, those eyes were pitiful and well-behaved.

But when the woman wasn’t paying attention, her eyes moved nimbly again, and she didn’t seem to be as afraid of women as she looked.

What Ye Zun didn’t understand and was confused by was that going by the time when the woman went downstairs, the man and woman downstairs could not have left the house in such a short time, and he did not hear the sounds of the woman demanding to buy a diamond ring at all.

Could it be that this little girl was lying?

Moreover, Ye Zun saw an old-fashioned tape recorder in the room where the little girl came out from, and the cloth covering it seemed to not have been thrown on properly, done in a hasty manner.

Voices of a man and woman, an enraged woman, an empty downstairs, a tape recorder.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the lone little girl who appeared downstairs was only five or six years old, it looked like someone deliberately set this up to drive the woman crazy.

Ye Zun didn’t want to doubt such a young child, but the little girl rolled her eyes, and instead of moving away in fear, she said a few more words that added fuel to the fire.

“Wu wu wu,” she cried, with tears that didn’t drop in her eyes, looking pitiful. “Baba also said that auntie gave him a baby brother, saying that it was because Mama couldn’t give birth to a boy, and also, and also…”

The woman screamed in anger and slapped her across her face. Because the little girl was still holding her face, she was only hit on the back of her hand. “Spit it out, what else did he say?”

“He said he has hated Mama for a long time…he only lives with Mama for the sake of the children…but Mama always beats people…abuses the children…Baba doesn’t want to live with Mama anymore, he wants to marry the gentle auntie…even though I always say that Mama is very good and didn’t hit me…but Jiejie called auntie Mama…and said she already wants to change to a new Mama…Mama, I only have you as my Mama, even if you hit me, it is for my own good…”

The little girl’s words were so poisonous it sent chills all over Ye Zun’s body.

The woman was not moved at all when she heard this, only annoyance and anger. She kicked away the little girl who was hugging her leg, and walked upstairs with the scissors, shouting, “Damn girl, get the hell out here. Your wings have hardened, you want to change to a new mother, you want that bitch to be your mother? I gave birth to you for nothing, I knew I should’ve just strangled you right after you came out…”

The little girl who was kicked away was unharmed, as if she knew to dodge first from the beginning.

She dropped her hands. Except for the two tears she squeezed out of her flushed face, there was no sadness at all. She rolled her eyes, and even couldn’t help laughing, as if she was waiting to see a good show.

Ye Zun immediately wanted to follow in the direction where the woman went, but he couldn’t move.

The sound of the twin big sister crying and begging for mercy, of her denying, of her miserably sobbing came from a room in the villa, with no end.

The girl downstairs who sowed discord also seemed to be frightened. She swallowed her saliva, cautiously following them up the stairs, and poked out her head to observe.

After the little girl started moving, Ye Zun could finally float to follow them.

Hearing her older sister’s tragic crying, she didn’t have any sympathy on her face, only the expression of being thankful that it wasn’t her, and the interest of watching a play.

“See if I don’t punish you to death! Who told you to call someone else Mama, who made you disobedient! Go to hell, all of you go to hell ba! Ahhhhhh!“

Finally, the sound of a child crying stopped abruptly with the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground.

The little girl stared wide-eyed and immediately ran to the side of the building to look down.

Ye Zun also floated outside.

A child’s body was lying crookedly on the ground, head tilted on the concrete steps. Her eyes were full of innocence and terror. She completely lost the light of a soul.

Ye Zun slowly looked at the two faces looking down from upstairs.

The woman looked down from the attic window. Her face that was pale as a piece of paper was expressionless and devastated, as if she didn’t know what happened.

The little girl’s face poked out from the window on the second floor. Her eyes widened with curiosity. She didn’t have much fear, nor was she sad or regretful. She just looked like she was scared of being found after having gotten herself into trouble. She rolled her dark eyes, with an expression that was far more calm than that of many adults.

“Mama.” She suddenly pouted her mouth pitifully, looking at the woman upstairs at the window while on the brink of tears, although her voice was calm and clear. “You killed Jiejie, what will Baba do if he finds out? He definitely won’t want Mama anymore, auntie will get the police to arrest you.”

She spoke tentatively, not pretending to cry anymore, nor did she pretend to be fond of her mother. As if she was waiting for something, her eyes were excited.

The woman didn’t have time to pay any mind to her at this moment. She stared blankly at her dead daughter downstairs, as if she finally understood what had just happened.

“I killed someone, I killed my daughter, what have I done?”

All the anger and resentment on her face disappeared, and all thoughts were lost. The scissors in her hand sliced down on her own wrist, and then, she jumped all the way to the first floor.

Two bodies, one big and one small, lying on the ground, one behind the other.

Ye Zun looked at the little girl who had directed everything, watching her without blinking, certain that she did not appear to be a ghost in the slightest, that she was a real person. He was also certain that her behaviour was that of a real child, not an adult pretending to be a child, nor was she a soul living in a child’s body like himself.

But it was this five or six year old girl who killed her own sister and mother.

The little girl had a relieved expression on her face, instead of fear and dread. She turned around and ran downstairs.

Ye Zun followed her.

He saw her running to the room with the tape-recorder on the first floor, operating carelessly, erasing the words of the father and aunt that angered the woman.

Then she ran back to the kitchen.

She got an onion in the kitchen and squeezed it against herself, but it was hard to peel the onion, so she hurriedly put it down and took out a ginger. But, with the happy smile on the corner of her mouth, as if a beautiful new life was coming soon, she couldn’t find a way to make herself cry.

At this moment, people outside the yard had begun to notice that something had happened.

She splashed some cold water on her face and rubbed her eyes, but they bore no resemblance to real tears in the mirror.

Someone in the yard shouted, “There’s been an accident, look for the other child.”

Suddenly, she saw a fruit knife and immediately picked it up and swiped it twice on her arm.

But it hurt too much, just a little bit of white and red made her tears burst out, and she immediately threw the knife away.

The adults found her in a kitchen cupboard.

She seemed to be scared out of her wits, staying still like a fool. Whatever she was asked, she looked like she had no idea what they were talking about.

From Ye Zun’s point of view, her acting skills were very poor, but the adults around her didn’t seem to think that there was anything wrong with such a young child, and they subconsciously believed her to be an innocent and pitiful little girl, who was frightened after her mother beat her big sister to death, before commiting suicide herself. That was why she is like this.

The next scenes were very far away, jumping from one to another.

Ye Zun’s consciousness floated in the air, seeing the man who had undergone a great change holding her hand, hugging her and saying that Baba wronged them.

Seeing them holding a funeral.

Seeing people around discussing incessantly, saying that the woman became like that because the man was always working outside, and her thoughts ran so wild she believed that the man was cheating on her, then wrongfully taking it out by hitting her child.

Throughout the funeral, until after it was over, the woman who was suspected of being a mistress on the tape recorder did not appear once, as if such a person did not exist at all.

After the death of her big sister and mother, the little girl indeed lived very well. The man felt that he owed her a lot and responded to every request. He recruited many nannies and hired hands into the house to take care of her.

Lying on the bed at night, she first acted like a baby and pitifully told her father that she missed her Jiejie and Mama, and then brought up wanting this and that. It was a clumsy method, but the man didn’t notice it, and agreed one by one. Only occasionally did he feel that it was too much, and frowned slightly.

“How about buying a new doll? Jewellery is for grown-ups. “

“No ma, no ma, I* want this, I want a crown with diamonds like a princess, I want to wear this to celebrate my birthday ma. My class leader celebrates her birthday just like this.”

[T/N: the girl is speaking in third person, literally “people want this”(god I hate her)]

“Alright ba, alright ba.”

After the man agreed, he went out and asked a few nannies some questions. He suspected that the people around them had taught her some weird things, and wanted to use her to cheat money out of the family.

“It seems that such a small child still needs to be taught by a mother.” He himself had no patience at all and had no time.

Not long after, the little girl, who had been living her life so well, began to feel that something was wrong.

Baba always left early and returned late, she was used to this, and she didn’t care, as long as the servants at home listened to her. But she keenly sensed that something was wrong with Baba who returned home several times recently.

The man seemed younger and he dressed very neatly, and sometimes his body carried a nice scent.

Her premonition was correct. Not long after, the man brought back a woman and told her to call her Auntie.

“Baba will find a new Mama for you, okay?”

She naturally objected, fiercely bringing up her dead Jiejie and Mama.

But the man had no patience with her this time, and said that he would be going on a business trip abroad in the next few days and would be sending her to live with relatives for the time being.

The relatives weren’t the hired helpers at their house, so they didn’t indulge her. They found out that she habitually lies, and gossip travelled through the adults. Even if it was such an insignificant matter like accidentally dropping something in her hand on the ground, she will also want to place the blame on one of the relative’s children. The adults who witnessed the truth couldn’t help being surprised, but they didn’t personally teach her that her behaviour was wrong. They would only be polite, and then alienate her with a cold attitude.

The feeling of being silently hated while living under someone else’s roof was uncomfortable to bear.

She gradually seemed to realise that she was far too conceited during that time, making trouble without reason, and Baba seemed a little unhappy.

When Baba brought the young woman over again, she was especially well-behaved and lovable.

She hugged her Baba’s neck, choking and sobbing. “When will Baba take me home?”

“What’s wrong? Little princess, were you wronged?”

The relatives also smiled politely. “That’s right ah, wronged by being placed here with us. You two should get married early and take her back ba, the proper way for children to be thoroughly taught is by their parents.”

No matter how dull the man was, he still noticed that none of the relatives seemed to want to see his daughter, and his daughter also seemed to have wronged greatly, but she looked like she didn’t want to talk about it.

“Okay, very soon.”

Sure enough, the man married the young woman very soon after.

It was not until after they got married that they brought the little girl back together.

The little girl was always very well-behaved, and the family lived smoothly.

That was until not long after, when the new mother became pregnant, and the little girl’s expression changed. Her black eyeballs began to roll around again.

“Mama, drink water.”

“Baobei is such a good girl, Mama will drink later. Don’t be late for your piano lesson.”

The little girl obediently listened, but her eyes kept floating over to the glass of water.

In the end, time ran out and she had to leave.

She wasn’t playing well in the piano room and the piano teacher had no choice but to follow her flow.

She ran out with an excuse, lying on the floor and peeking in through the crack of the door.

The woman had been reading all this time and was finally thirsty, and remembered to drink water.

The little girl instantly smiled and nervously stared at her drinking.

But the woman didn’t drink. She appeared to have suddenly seen something, frowning as she looked at the glass of water.

Ye Zun also saw that there was a layer of white substance at the bottom of the water, turning it a little cloudy.

The little girl immediately knew that she had exposed herself and hurriedly ran away.

Although she was scheming and vicious, her age put a limit to her intelligence, and so she was discovered.

The new mother didn’t spread the matter around, but secretly observed her in private.

The little girl pretended to be a good girl for a few days, but when she realised that no one had noticed, she began to think of other ideas.

“Mama, let me tell you a itty bitty secret, Baba hugged the helper Jiejie at home today, and even kissed on the lips.”

The new mother was instantly furious. When the man came home at night, she held onto him and refused to let go, insisting to know which little devil* it was.

[T/N: 妖精/yaojing: alluring woman]

The man thought she was overly suspicious and the two had a big argument.

“Mama, I found this on Baba’s body, a woman’s earring.”

But this time the new mother was not fooled, because it was too ridiculous. This earring was something she bought for this stepdaughter, of course she remembered it.

When the man came back in the evening, she brought up his daughter’s education with him in a calm manner.

The man resolutely refused to believe that his daughter would be such a person and was subconsciously disgusted, believing that this was a stepmother framing his own daughter.

When the woman presented the evidence, he still felt that it was not his daughter’s fault. It must be because the woman did not treat his daughter as her own dearest child, and that his daughter did not feel safe with her, which was why she did such a thing.

“The child is still young and doesn’t understand things, you can educate her. How can you think of her so viciously?”

The new mother was unable to give a convincing explanation to defend herself. She never thought that the matter would turn out to be her fault in the end.

The husband and wife were unable to come to an agreement, and they shared the same bed with different dreams*.

[T/N: 同床异梦: describes a couple with different agendas]

Of course, the man also found the little girl afterwards and told her, in a way that he thought was strict, to not do these things again.

However, he said with light and fluttering words, “How can you put bleach in Mama’s water?”

To the little girl, these kinds of words sounded like he was condoning it. Anyway, it was just such a harmless sentence, it couldn’t even be considered a reproach.

On the surface, she naturally looked very pitiful, as if she didn’t dare to do such things anymore.

The second time, she was caught trying to put herbicides from her garden into the woman’s cosmetics.

This time, the woman had already given birth. After grabbing her, she slapped her with the back of her hand.

She said with poison in her words, “Your Baba doesn’t watch you, but I do. Next time you dare to pull something like this, I will pour the whole bottle of makeup into your mouth.”

Although the new mother was angry, she also knew that the child was only six or seven years old, and no one would believe her even if she told people outside. They would only think that it was her fault, like the man. They would think she must have done something malicious to make such a young child behave like this.

Only the woman understood that this child was simply a natural born demon.

Even if she understood this, there was nothing she could do about it. An adult hits a child, they speak out, and they are called vicious.

But even if a five-or-six year old child poisoned an adult, let alone whether everyone would believe it, even if there is solid evidence, there will be no legal punishment. She could only be careful by herself.

During this period, the woman moved out, strongly expressing that she could not live under the same roof with her.

When things got out, it turned into the stepmother harshly treating the child of the first wife.

She may not care about her reputation, but she had to care about her child’s life.

With such a fierce attitude from the woman, although the man thought that she was hypocritical and had far too many ideas in her head, as well as his feelings for her that have grown cold, he was also very tired of his daughter who did not like to make things easy.

The couple’s marriage existed in name only and they formally split into two households.

Although the two were not divorced, it was basically the same as if they did.

She lost the restrictions of having a new Mama and now lived with her Baba. However, the little girl whose Baba often didn’t come home did not live as smoothly as she expected.

The hired workers at home and the people she had met came and went. With her careful thinking and tricks, adults with a little experience would know how to deal with it after suffering a few losses.

She openly messed with the helpers. In private, they agreed to her orders but never executed them, and at worst, they would change jobs and quit.

She complained to Baba, but in her eyes, there was nothing good in this house. No one was not a good person, and there was no specific person who committed the crime, which made the man unsure who to punish.

All the employees looked wronged, testifying against each other, and even made a racket saying that they couldn’t afford to serve such a noble emperor’s daughter, and wanted to resign collectively.

After the man went through a few rounds of changing people, he also felt annoyed by her fussing, saying that if she can’t go home, then she won’t come home.

Now, apart from the brightness of the surface, she was living more miserably than ever.

Everyone in the house did things according to the rules and regulations, but the rice is cold and the soup is hot. Who told her to move too slowly, did she even want to eat or not.

[T/N: not sure if I got it across bc i stared at the original passage for a while, it’s like narration turning into the girl speaking, then narration turning into the hired workers berating her]

Even if she fell ill and cried, everyone would call the doctor to prescribe medicine, then ignore her. Besides, even if they seriously took good care of her, afterwards she would just bite back and sow discord, spewing lies and accusations.

The child’s poisonous schemes finally hit a wall in the face of a bad adult who could pull off real schemes, and ate a lot of unspeakable bitterness.

She learned to be good and began to admit her mistakes to her father, wishing to go home.

The new mother also felt that her little daughter could not live without a father, so she accepted them.

The relationship between husband and wife was cut-off for several years.

Children are different from other children. Some children can think of using recordings from the shows on the television to drive their Mama crazy when they were just five or six years old. Of course, her original purpose was just her wanting not to be beaten, just her wanting Mama and Baba to divorce.

Even at the very start of the beginning, she chose to do things this way blindly, not quite understanding why. She just vaguely knew that Mama would be angry and find it unbearable if she did it. It was just revenge for the Mama who beat her.

The youngest daughter, who was four or five years old, was foolish and simple, not understanding a single thing. Sometimes she couldn’t even speak clearly.

She liked her big sister very much, following her Jiejie around all the time to play with her, not listening no matter what Mama said.

The new mother saw her little daughter behaving like a normal child. It’s already been a few years since the incident at the beginning. She wondered a little if she thought too much initially, whether she subconsciously didn’t like the child of her husband and his ex-wife, was that why she took things so severely? Maybe it’s just that children are ignorant and mischievous, and they simply had no idea of the consequences of doing so, but she went and used the mind of an adult to suspect the child.

With this way of thinking, she found that her stepdaughter was patient and friendly to her younger sister, and she couldn’t help but feel even more guilty, believing that it was her fault.

However, only Ye Zun, who was watching everything, knew that this was just a false front.

Lying in bed at night, the ten year old girl would make up stories to her little sister.

“I also used to have a Mama and a Jiejie, but because Baba met your Mama, because you were born, my Mama was too angry and couldn’t think clearly, so she took Jiejie with her to die. Your Mama is a mistress, the third person they talk about on the television, a bad woman.”

“Are you going to tattle? Then go on and tell her ba, she definitely won’t admit it, and she will hit you and me. My Mama beat me and Jiejie just like this, and Jiejie was beaten to death. Your Mama will even drive me away, like before, a small kid like me living in a scary house, surrounded by bad guys, being starved and bullied every day. I will die, just like Jiejie and Mama.”

“You’ve heard of the story of Cinderella, haven’t you? Your Mama is the bad stepmother, and I am Cinderella. Do you want to be the daughter of the poisonous bad stepmother?”

“If you want to be like your Mama, be a bad guy, if you want to drive me to my death, then go and tattle.”

The four-or-five year old daughter was petrified. She couldn’t quite understand her Jiejie’s words, but she knew that Jiejie had been living alone, she must be very pitiful.

Seeing her Jiejie, crying quietly with resentment on her face, she immediately said, “I won’t tell, I won’t let Jiejie be chased away.”

The relationship between the two sisters had always been very good, so good that sometimes when Mama, Baba and Jiejie come into conflict, even if Jiejie was punished by Baba for stealing something from the house, she would stand by her Jiejie to protect her.

Sometimes Jiejie said she did things that she had never done before, causing her to be beaten by Mama. Although she was confused, seeing Jiejie crying in fear, she thought that Jiejie must be so scared that she must have said the wrong thing, and that she didn’t mean to get her beaten.

The new mother finally realised that her stepdaughter hadn’t changed at all, that she had fallen back into her habits or spouting lies and creating conflict. However, her methods had grown more advanced, and she couldn’t even grasp the handle.

At first, she just noticed that she seemed to have a bad reputation among the people around her, a bad mother who treated her stepdaughter harshly and abused her children.

Moreover, her husband had confronted her several times in a peculiar manner, as if she had done something shameful, but for some reason he couldn’t say it directly, and just thought that she should know it well and have a guilty conscience.

Finally, one day, a new friend she made told her the truth.

“There’s something I’ve been meaning to say for a long time. Before I knew you, I always thought that your personality was corrupt, but after getting to know you, I found that you were completely different from what I imagined. Take a guess at what happened. That stepdaughter in your family oh, she really is amazing, when she was younger, she came to our house by herself, looking wrong and aggrieved, hesitating to speak as if she had been abused at home. She asked in a small voice if she could stay at my house for a while. If you asked her what’s wrong, she would look like she’s about to burst into tears and wouldn’t talk, but as long as she is asked if you did something, her eyes would turn red and she would cry, and quietly say, ‘A-yi, don’t ask me anymore. Mama is very good to me. A-yi, you are a good person, I can’t cause trouble for you. I will go now.’ Think about it yourself, after this happens a few more times, what will people who don’t know you think of you?”

The woman was bewildered, but did not find this surprising. Thinking of her husband’s recent attitude, she couldn’t help but wonder if she was doing something behind her back.

So, a tapping device was quietly installed.

“…Mama dressed up very beautifully the day before yesterday, it looked like she went out to meet someone. I thought she went to see the auntie who came to the house last time, but that day I met that A-yi and her son outside.”

“…children should worry about the adults’ matters, it’s a misunderstanding, your Mama went and saw that no one was there so she left immediately.”

“…but I didn’t say anything ah. Mama is so young and beautiful, it’s normal if she likes to play. Baba, you actually went to check in person, you really love to drink vinegar*. But saying it out loud, it’s a bit strange, my classmate said that his Baba had someone on the outside, and his Baba even gifted the woman a hairpin. Mama also has that hairpin.”

[T/N: jealousy]

This time the woman directly put the evidence in front of the father and daughter.

“Are you two sick in the head ah? You suggest that I’m cheating when you’re with your dad, you can’t wait for the hair on your dad’s head to turn green*, is that right?”

[T/N: green is associated with cheating]

“What are you blowing up at a child for? She always spoke up for you, saying that I was thinking too much. It’s your own indiscretion that makes people misunderstand.”

After many altercations like this, the woman couldn’t bear it any longer.

The two divorced not long after.

The woman simply had a psychological shadow when it came to this family and its children, and even had lingering fears about her little daughter who was close to the stepdaughter, afraid that she was a copy of her.

The man’s two marriages both ended in failure, and he even felt that this family was cursed by the death of his first wife.

Until the end, he believed that his second wife gave him a green hat, it’s just that he didn’t get any evidence.

The old house was demolished, and he took his two daughters overseas to work on his business.

Ye Zun’s state finally ended when the house was demolished.

He regained the sensations of his body, still sitting on the bed.

The door of the room was closed, and the scary eyes of the female ghost was also no longer in the room.

But Ye Zun felt cold sweat all over his body.

What he saw was undoubtedly what had happened in this house in the past.

The little girl who told stories and killed her mother and big sister at a young age was undoubtedly the second aunt who looked polite and kind.

And the third aunt who always quarrelled with the second aunt, the San-gugu who always retaliated, was so close to Er-gugu when she was a child. Even when she was stuck between her blood-mother and her half-sister, she chose to trust and defend her sister.

Then, what happened later that made San-gugu and Er-gugu turn against each other?
