Finally, he had given up. It seemed Ella was much more strong-willed than Vylun had heard from Eric. He almost shook his head from left to right after experiencing his friend’s famous sister. Fortunately, his amazing reflexes stopped him from doing that, and he made a sigh of relief. Then he was surprised by his reaction and froze.

‘You thought you would be an exception?’ It seemed he could hear Eric laughing at him teasingly. But when he saw Ella’s smile, Eric’s laughter faded away, and instead, he began to hear his heart pounding. It had been so long since his heart pounded for someone.

‘No. There hadn’t been anyone,’ he thought. Vylun couldn’t understand himself and looked at Ella with a surprised expression.

Ella, who couldn’t guess what he was thinking, made an irresistible smile and told him, “I want two things.”

“What is it?”

“Lend me 10 knights whenever I want without telling my brother or my father.”

Even in that moment, Lion’s head made him work as a responsible knight without being affected by his pounding heart. Vylun’s sharp eyes scanned at Ella’s suspicious request.

“And what do you want them for?” asked Vylun.

“Don’t ask why. Just lend them to me,” Ella replied.

Vylun’s eyes narrowed because of the additional condition to her request. Ella could sense his suspicion as well, but she couldn’t tell him anything. However, there was one thing she could tell him.

“I won’t get them hurt.”

In response to Ella’s answer, Vylun sighed in denial and replied, “I’m not asking for that kind of answer. I asked what do you need them for, milady.”

“And I also said not to ask why. I can only tell you that the knights won’t get hurt, nor will I ask them to do something that’ll damage my family. I won’t be asking them to get rid of someone or anything of that sort, so don’t worry.”

Vylun frowned at her answer that became even stranger. Why would a 17-year-old noble girl need 10 knights when it is not about bullying a rival? He became puzzled.

Ella ignored his frustration and continued on her next request. “And my other request is don’t be too hard on the three who followed my orders to lay down their swords while also making sure that the other five who didn’t heed to my order never walk out to the training grounds tomorrow.”

“What do you mean?”

“I don’t care if you make them crawl or put them in a hospital bed. I want them to know that they’re lucky to see another day, so they won’t dare to meddle with affairs they have no business with.”

Vylun grinned at Ella’s request. Ella remembered what Eric had told her when she saw Vylun’s smile. Her brother once said that there were times when Vylun’s smile held a certain viciousness. She understood what he meant by that. Seeing it with her own eyes brought chills to her back.

After smiling at Ella, Vylun maintained that grin and turned to the knights who were shivering from behind. Then he said, “That was my plan before you asked me for it anyway. It seems that they will only learn what’ll happen to them if they act without my knowledge by engraving it to their bones.”

“It seems our thoughts are aligned. That is fortunate.”

Vylun turned to where the energetic voice came from and saw Ella with a just as bubbly smile on her face. He almost stopped breathing for a moment, then coughed to hide his actions. Then, he said, “But as for lending out 10 knights, I’ll need more time to think about it.”

“Knight Lieutenant!”

“I can always lend them to you if you tell me why. Ask me for them when you can explain it to me.”

“If you insist, then I’ll have no choice but to tell my father.”

“Then, I’ll report to him about your request.”

“YOU!” Ella almost screamed in anger but stopped before she burst. She thought she had gotten him in her grasp, but he wasn’t an easy target. She thought hard about how to persuade him.
