Astonished by what Ella had asked him. Xyle irritably brushed his hair back. From the beginning, he knew that she was bold. It was probably why she refused to be the Empress of the great Duffspe empire. “You do know who you’re talking to, right?”

“Xylos the Master of the Magical Tower of the Long Moonlight. The man who knows more than anyone in this world,” Ella answered proudly. She couldn’t let him run away because, right now, she needed him most.

“He’s also the man who knows most of this world’s secrets. Do you even know what that means?” Xyle asked threateningly.

Ella, however, looked intriguingly back at him. Although she had possibly misinterpreted Xyle’s words, what he just said was meaningful to Ella. She walked up close to him and grabbed his arm. Xyle tried to take a step back, but she pulled him towards her and said, “Then you must know why I was brought here. Don’t you?”

He looked away as he tried to push her back. “The reason you were brought here is a secret. No one should know about it. I thought you gave up on returning to your world?”

“Yes, but I can’t just sit by when I see a chance. If there’s a man who knows why I’m here, then I might as well try. But… I see that you won’t tell me.”

Letting go of Xyle, Ella took a large step back. This man became the master of this tower, perhaps because he knew all those secrets. Whatever the case was, there was no way the man would reveal everything because of some girl he met for the first time today. If he wasn’t going to tell her, then it was time to back off now. Besides, she had other problems that required his assistance.

Giving up, Ella said, “It’s alright. I never believed I would find out easily.”

“So, you will keep searching?” asked Xyle.

“Probably?”

“Then I will give you some advice.”

“What is it?”

“Don’t search for it. It will come to you when it’s time. So, don’t bother searching for it because you won’t find it.”

Ella took a moment to think about Xyle’s advice. If one person knew a secret, it was highly likely another would too. He was telling her that there was someone who knew about it. Eventually, they would come to find her, so she should wait for them. Waiting, however, wasn’t something she did. She couldn’t hold back the urge to find out.

Interpreting her frown as a sign of rejection, Xyle reached out, grabbed her face, and directed her face towards him. Then he said, “You will never find it at this rate. I’m telling you not to waste time.”

“Never?”

“Never,” Xyle confirmed. “It will come to you unexpectedly. And I’m sure you’ve got a lot more things to worry about than that, like the drought?”

Ella then remembered why she needed his help. “Right! The drought!” Her frown disappeared, and she glanced at him. “I need you to come with me in three days.”

“Why?” Xyle asked.

“I need to meet someone who can stop the drought.”

“And you know where this person will be in three days? Right, it was in your book,” said Xyle grumpily.

“Yes,” Ella responded.

Xyle thought about what could happen if he accompanied her. Those beings often had complicated relationships with the Master of the tower. Even he wasn’t sure if it was possible to have meaningful conversations with them. Besides, that person was sensitive. If this person hated nobility, then it was a bad choice to accompany Ella to meet with him.

But the possibility of a problem occuring if he didn’t accompany her was also great. It was doubtful that this bold woman would be able to handle the sensitive creature. It was a being that Xyle himself would find hard to handle if things went wrong, and it was also unlikely that the Constance knights could handle it. Maybe she had an exit strategy in mind?

“What will you do if I don’t go?” asked Xyle.

“Then I will go alone. You never know what he’ll say.” Ella answered casually.

“So, you will ask something that others should not know.”

“Yes. Maybe I’ll hear the answer that you refused to tell me too.”

Xyle scoffed at her words. It seemed Ella didn’t care about his advice just now. He wanted to brush her off and let her be, but he couldn’t do that. His feelings for this woman were beginning to grow.

“He’s young. Change of Generation. Do you not know what that means?” Xyle sighed as he spoke. “If you still want to meet him, then come here first. I will go with you.”

“Thank you.”

Once more, Ella bowed like an ordinary noble and looked teasingly at him. Xyle noticed a strong resemblance between Evan and her. Whenever he was asking a favor that was difficult to refuse, Evan often had the same expression. Before Ella could speak any further, Xyle waved his hand and disappeared from the lab.

Left alone in the lab, Ella grumpily mumbled, “Gosh, this man knows everything. I was going to ask if I can at least read about it if he won’t tell me. By the way, where are those books on the women who rejected the empress title? Ugh, that man! You should help me before you leave!”

Unfortunately, the books were unreadable because they were written in code. The only person who could read it was the owner. All the other books were filled with white empty pages. After looking through a few more books, Ella gave up and returned to her seat. Eventually, she dozed off as she contemplated a few things in her mind.
