Jean slowly walked into the restaurant and felt a strange mood in the room.

“Jean, are you here?”

Nina waved her hand and next to her as always, sat the Duke.

“I’m starving to death.”

Jean said so and sat down next to Nina. It seems that her all-you-can-eat meal was already over, and Nina was eating a fruit tart.

“I’ll have them bring you a new meal.”

When Adrian raised his hand, the servant quickly retreated.

The kitchen staff may be dissatisfied and grumbling about them eating together or eating separately, but there is nothing they can do about it.

Somehow, Nina was giggling by herself, so when Jean saw what was happening, the two were playing a joke of tapping their legs under the table.

‘Hmm.’

If you find such lame pranks fun, there was only one answer.

Whether it was because the kitchen fire was still on, or whether it had been prepared in advance, the soup dish came out first.

Jean lifted the silverware and asked casually.

“So, are you two dating?”

Adrian flinched as a bird struck by a crossbow and Nina clasped her chin and grinned.

“Yes, thanks to Jean.”

She didn’t forget to give the owned credits. Jean said with a smirk.

“Oh really. Finally.”

He kept grumbling.

“I was wondering when you two were going to get together. My insides were rotting. Ugh.”

He lifted his head and looked at his lord, and Adrian had such an ambiguous face he had never seen before.

Jean burst into laughter because it was very funny.

Really, at times like this, I feel like an older brother.

“Congratulations, your Grace.”

Jean said with the utmost courteous manners, it was so unusual it was hard to know whether he was teasing or not, but judging by the squishy corners of his lips, he must be teasing.

But he couldn’t say anything, so Adrian just sighed.

“Thank you, Jean.”

After drinking the soup to the last drop, Jean didn’t tease the two of them anymore. He knew he wouldn’t get his money’s worth by doing that, so Jean changed the subject.

“Did you hear our report?”

“No, I told my side first.”

At Nina’s words, Jean made a face to talk more. Nina briefly described what had happened to herself, Fiona, and the Temple.

Even though she kept everything simple, it took long enough for the main dish to come out.

Jean groaned upon hearing the story of the last wave of light.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes, it took a little bit of my strength too, but not that much.”

Rather, should I say that it was resonating?

Nina didn’t know how to explain the situation and it would be the same for Fiona. The only thing Nina was sure of was that in any case, a spectacular scene unfolded in the capital

Jean savored a steak as he heard the story. It was the first proper meal he had in a long time.

The perfectly baked tenderloin was so soft that it melted in his mouth.

Seeing his happy face, Nina shifted her gaze from Jean to Adrian.

“Now then, young master, talk.”

Adrian was thinking about where to start, and he got straight to the point.

“We met a Lawmaker.”

“Lawmaker? The ones who are second in command inside the Cult? The one who Alka told us to be careful about?”

“Yes.”

Adrian looked at Nina.

Standing in the dark, wearing a white robe, the man looked at Adrian with a surprised look on his face.

“I thought Dame Nina was coming.”

He said so.

Nina’s face changed strangely as she heard it.

“Was he waiting for me?”

“I told you! It was a good thing we went there.”

Jean, who took a break from the talk, spoke as if complaining, and went back to eating.

Adrian cleared his thoughts for a moment and continued explaining.

────── •❆• ──────

Adrian and Jean headed towards the top of a rugged mountain range.

Both were groping around with spirits, wondering if they should find a cave going underground around the area, given what happened when Nina went after one of the fragments.

The sheer cliff was inclined almost at a straight angle and required mountain climbing, but it was covered with pure white ice.

There was no proper place to step.

“Tt, in this place, tt, of all places to, tt, hide a piece of shit. Eww-.”

Jean vomited out his anger at the teeth clattering cold.

If he hadn’t signed a contract with the spirit, Jean wouldn’t have been able to endure for even 10 minutes.

During the day, they couldn’t find it.

But Adrian’s best time was at night.

Everywhere the darkness touches was his territory.

He thought it would be easy to find at that time, but what he found when the sun went down was something else.

“Huh?”

Jean pointed a finger and saw the light of a bonfire not far away.

“Should we avoid it?”

He asked but Adrian narrowed his eyes.

“Someone came this far, lit a bonfire, and stoop up all night?”

The two eyes met each other.

“Let’s go.”

Jean said so, pulling out a halberd.

Had it not been for the fact that he was wearing boots with ice picks on the sole, he would have already slipped and rolled.

When they got closer to the bonfire, they saw a man seating around it. The long white robe looked like clothes from the temple, but the details were different.

His hair was also pure white.

He was not dressed to be in such a place like this. When he saw the two, he slowly got up from his seat.

A bizarre confrontation with a bonfire in between took place.

It was the man side who made the first move. The man put his hands in his sleeves and looked up.

“My name is Lelemiah, the Second Guardian of Destruction.”

He was a Blecca.

They could tell just by hearing his name. No, before even that, they couldn’t help but know while looking at his skin and eyes.

He said slowly pulling his hand from his sleeve.

“Are you here to find this?”

He pulled out a black marble from his sleeve and Jean groaned at the discomfort he felt.

“It is the compressed essence of a fragment that has fallen in this area. I thought you were coming to find it.”

“I didn’t know that a Lawmaker would wait on purpose.”

When Adrian said with a smile, Lelemiah showed his teeth with a bright smile.

“What are you talking about? You knew I would be here, right? Wasn’t that why you came?”

At those words, Jean was barely able to suppress the fact that he almost threw his gaze at Adrian without realizing it.

He tried his best to remain calm as if he too knew about that.

“That’s too bad. I thought I would be able to meet Dame Nina. I really wanted to see her.”

He placed a black marble in the palm of his hand.

“There was something I wanted to say to the Great Spirit.”

Lelemiah looked at Jean and Adrian and smiled.

“Dame Nina is busy with other things.”

At Adrian’s words, Lelemiah nodded his head.

“Of course, she must be busy.”

“Why are you looking for Dame Nina?”

Adrian went direct to the point, and Lelemiah looked at him in surprise.

“Don’t you know? Dame Nina is-.”

As he tried to speak, he shut his mouth.

“Coming to think of it, I see no reason to tell you, but I would like to ask you one thing.”

Lelemiah made an amused face.

“Does Dame Nina look like a human being in the eyes of you two?”

“Is there a problem if she’s not human?”

Jean asked back in a sarcastic tone.

“And even if she’s not human, what of it?”

It doesn’t matter.

Although he was speaking gibberish, Lelemiah still had a smile on his face and turned his gaze to Adrian.

“What do you think?”

“Nina is Nina. In this world, she’s one of a kind and second to none.”

In response to Adrian’s soft smile, Lelemiah’s expression turned strange.

He sighed heavily.

“I see. Then my answer will be meaningless to you two. Shall we end this pointless conversation here?”

Adrian asked.

“Why do you want the world to end?”

Lelemiah smiled brightly.

“Because that’s the same for everyone. The pain of death is brief.”

“Who’s going to died?”

Jean branded his halberd and lifted it. He turned the spear round and round, water formed in the air and followed the arc drawn in the air.

“If you struggle, the pain will only prolong. It’s better to part early to the peaceful sea of glass.”

Lelemiah said so and swallowed the black marble.

“Huh?”

Jean let out a sound without realizing it while Lelemiah put a hand on his chest and smiled again.

At the same time, black energy exploded and Jean reflexively built a wall of water, but it wasn’t perfect.

Black darkness descended upon him.

I’m dead.

‘Oh, she’s going to cry.’

At that moment, something caught the back of his neck, strangling him and pulling his whole body.

“Khog!”

He made a strange noise, but he escaped the darkness that fell above him.

“Get a hold of yourself.”

At the cold voice, Jean looked at Adrian who was holding the nape of his neck.

“Sorry.”

The two of them were standing on a hill of ice a little far from the black sphere of energy, perhaps because they moved away in a second.

‘I’m glad it’s night.’

Adrian thought so.

Four gigantic wings ripped through the dark energy. The black sphere shrank and a dragon covered in solid blue scales appeared in front of them.

Its toenails were as long as an arm, and their width was thicker than Jean’s thighs. The ice mountain was scratched like ice cream under its claws.

The dragon opened his mouth.

Kyeeeaaaaaaaaaa!!

A blue lightning bolt exploded.

Darkness rose from the floor, blocking it as if swallowing the lightning bolt.

“Tsk.”

Adrian clicked his tongue, his energy was already dwindling because of the light, but if the attack is lightning…

“Jean, be careful when using your spirit. Do not let the water and your body come into contact with the lightning.”

“Yes.”

Jean didn’t know why, but there was no reason not to follow it.

The dragon spreads its four wings and soared in the sky.

Jean genuinely admired this situation saying, ‘It’s not a Lawmaker for nothing’. It was surprising that such a giant body can float in the air. It looks like a sailing boat was flying in the sky.

Clutching his halberd, Jean said.

“You have to be at that level to at least give us a fight.”

Adrian laughed lightly at Jean’s exciting words. As he drew out his black obsidian sword, he said.

“Take it down at once.”
