Eventually, Yernia stopped chewing altogether.

Torn whether she should spit it out or swallow it, a large hand suddenly cupped her chin.

“Spit it out.”

Yernia spat it out without hesitation.

Casian usually offered his hand to make her spit the food out if she ate something wrong and she did it without thinking of the consequences.

As soon as Yernia spat the meat in Cassian’s open palm, sharp gasps were heard everywhere.

Why did this tragedy have to happen during the couple’s meeting?

She knew it was rude to do this in front of the aristocrats, but she had no idea what to do next.

Warmth flushed her cheeks.

“Is your tooth alright?”

Cassian acted as if he couldn’t care less about what others thought of her.

“…Yes. It hurts a bit, but I’m fine.”

Cassian casually removed the chewed meat from his hand with a napkin and called the chef.

The chef’s face had paled upon seeing him, and repeatedly bowed multiple times.

He apologized, claiming it was a rookie mistake.

It wasn’t a stone but a broken shell.

Cassian glared at him coldly, saying that the chef had made the same mistake on the pasta so he had to send that back too.

“You should try it yourself. Just in case you don’t believe me.”

“I’m alright, Cassian. I had no broken tooth.”

From the way he glowered at her, it appeared like Cassian didn’t believe her declaration.

He urged Yernia to open her mouth by gently squeezing her chin.

Yernia communicated to him with eyes full of desperation. ‘Please look around us, Cassian.’

He glanced at the people surrounding them and said, “You shouldn’t care about them that much, Yernia.”

How can she not care when they just got married?

It was her first face-to-face meeting with the noblewoman whom she hadn’t even gotten the chance to get close with.

Since Cassian hadn’t released her chin immediately, Yernia had to open her mouth for a while so that he could look at her teeth to his heart’s content.

“I see that your teeth aren’t broken.”

When she cast a nervous glance around her, the aristocrats’ countenance didn’t look good.

“Here you go.”

“This doesn’t make sense.”

“I like it.” Cassian, who wouldn’t let go of her chin earlier, finally released his hold. “This feels like a battlefield.”

Then, he stabbed the meat with his fork before putting it inside her mouth.

Yernia shook her head in refusal. “I’ll eat it myself, Cassian.”

“What if you chew something weird again? Just eat the food I give you.”

Why did it matter to him?

The shells were from the food, alright?

It wasn’t like she chose it herself!

“Cassian, you’re making everyone feel uncomfortable.”

“You don’t have to worry about that. If what I’m doing makes them uncomfortable, then they should mind their own business.”

“What will these people think of me, then?”

The two continued to whisper at each other.

“You’re still going to eat it! I said that I would feed you, right? Here’s another forkful of steak. Ah!”

“Can we be calm and quiet for a moment?”

After quarreling, both of them pursed their lips in silence at the same time.

When Yernia decided to open her mouth again, Cassian pushed a small slice of steak into her mouth.

Since she couldn’t say all the things she wanted to say in front of the aristocrats,  Yernia closed her mouth and chewed the meat thoroughly without complaint.

Perhaps, she could talk to Cassian on their way home.

“You look good together. I envy both of you.”

“That’s because they’re still newlyweds. It’s nice to see, though.”

Some of the nobles had given them unflattering glances, but some women had given them satisfied smiles.

Yernia felt strange at every word she heard so far.

Wasn’t it obvious that Cassian was forced to feed her?

Yernia seriously wondered what had happened to these ladies’ eyesight.

Meanwhile, Cassian continued feeding Yernia steak.

People had frowned while giving them warnings from time to time but Cassian was too stubborn so Yernia simply gave up.

“You’re eating well, Yernia. Is it good?”

“Yes, you should try it too.”

Possessed by a competitive spirit, Yernia picked up a fork and stuffed huge slices of steak into Cassian’s mouth.

Cassian ate every single one of them and the corner of his eyes crinkled with joy.

No, it wasn’t a pleasure to do it.

She merely tried, but she suddenly had an unnecessary desire to win.

“I want to feed you, Cassian.”

Yernia said as calmly as possible, conscious of the eyes around them.

She wanted to feed Cassian more steak, and even if he had enough, she would keep putting the steak in his mouth without a break.

Her new husband might become more aware of the snobbish aristocrats surrounding them if he was in a position to receive.

“The food seemed more delicious if you’re the one feeding me.”

“…….”

“Give me more, Yernia.”

Unfortunately, the perverted bastard was enjoying himself.

Yernia, contemplating whether she should go as far as she could, decided to quit.

She didn’t think Cassian would ever realize that both of them were being a nuisance in this meeting.

After the meal, husbands started smoking cigars while discussing business and politics with their peers.

The wives naturally withdrew from them to meet with other women.

“You stay here, Yernia. You can’t follow me.”

“It’s boring. I want to be next to you.”

“Are you a child? No.”

Yernia stood up to follow Cassian and pressed herself against his arm.

“Husbands go here, only wives go there.”

Cassian just told her exactly what he knew, but he flinched when they made physical contact.

“I wanted to be with you, my husband.”

Then, he suddenly twirled her around as if he was in a good mood.

Yernia thought Cassian was burning with fever, but when she touched his forehead, he seemed fine.

How moody and cute~
