Yernia was more nervous than before.

She was afraid she would kill Cassian.

Her husband merely laughed, sensing her tension.

“You’re pretty weak so I won’t die no matter how hard you draw. Just do it, Yernia. If I die, you’ll die, too. Got it?”

“You’re being ridiculous. Dead husbands would usually wish their living wives to be happy.”

“I can’t do that if I die alone. Don’t you think it’s unfair? A husband and wife should stay together through thick and thin.”

‘That would never happen.’

Yernia heard that from one ear before it passed unto the other.

She angled the blade on his sleek jawline and swept up from his chin.

It was awesome to see the shaving cream clustered on the blade, clearing his beard.

Yernia rinsed the blade in the water before shaving him again just like Cassian taught her to.

“Hmm. You’re better than I thought.”

“I tried my best not to kill you.”

“Haha. You want to kill me?”

“No. But, I want to hit you.”

Cassian groaned when Yernia flicked his forehead with a finger.

She lifted Cassian’s chin again when he decided to shut his mouth.

Yernia stayed up all day, embroidering her handkerchief.

She was certain she started embroidering in the afternoon, but when she came to her senses, the dawn was already bright.

She wanted to sleep but she went outside instead.

Breathing gulps of cool air awakened her even more.

She walked for a while and saw the guides being occupied with meal preparations for the troops early at dawn.

Yernia naturally joined their group.

“I came out too late.”

She was about to help but they were already done.

Others tried to give Yernia her meal portions, telling her it was alright, but she had no time to eat.

Her handkerchief was not completed yet.

“I’ll eat later.”

“You’re still embroidering it, aren’t you? Is it for the Major?”

Sinira looked at Yernia with interest.

“Yes. What do you think?”

Yernia had a knack for embroidery because that was all she did at the mansion, including flower arranging.

Of course, she still has to improve her skills.

“It’s pretty amazing! However, I don’t have any desire to make that for my Esper.” Sinira grumbled as if her disappointments had already accumulated.

Yernia didn’t want to know but it turned out Sinira’s Esper was a tough dude.

She still chose to finish Cassian’s handkerchief despite Sinira’s words remaining at the back of her mind.

When both of them started eating, Sinira didn’t talk to her after that as if she had already said what she wanted to say.

The march of a thousand military boots was heard nearby, making Yernia glance at the movement’s source.

Cassian and his troops were rushing in.

“Cassian!”

Yernia jumped out of her seat.

Cassian, who was marching at the forefront, halted.

Yernia, who suddenly popped out of nowhere while blocking his path, felt burdened by Cassian’s scrutiny.

“I have something for you.”

Yernia took out the handkerchief she made.

“I made this for you.”

Cassian frowned as he stared at her.

“You didn’t sleep last night because of this?”

She wanted it to be a secret.

Unfortunately, Cassian noticed.

“Have a safe trip, husband. Please don’t get hurt.”

She blushed in embarrassment.

Cassian took the handkerchief and examined the embroidered pink tulips in it.

His expression became strange.

She didn’t know if he was happy or furious.

“Oh, I can’t stand it.”

It appeared like he was trying to suppress his joy but he failed in the end.

He couldn’t help the corners of his mouth from going up.

“What are you going to do?”

As long as Cassian was happy, all her hard work was worth it.

She immediately felt better.

He grabbed Yernia’s cheek and kissed her forehead.

The warm and soft sensation on her forehead caused a smile to spread across her lips.

“This is my gift in return for the handkerchief.”

Yernia flinched.

She wasn’t guiding him right now and it was too short to call it as such.

He said so, didn’t he?

It was a reward for making the handkerchief.

Yes.

Reward.

Yernia nodded then.

“Tie it over here.”

He offered his wrist in front of Yernia.

She had no idea what she had done but the sight of his innocent face set her stomach on fire.

Yes.

Reward.

He only kissed her out of gratitude.

She shouldn’t attach any unnecessary meaning behind it.

It wasn’t like she was in love with her husband.

“I’ll be back.”

When Yernia began tying the handkerchief to his wrist, Cassian bent his neck and looked into her eyes.

His eyes were filled with laughter.

“Have a safe trip, Cassian. I’ll be waiting for you.”

Yernia hoped that he would return safely.
