Chapter 365: I’m Not Worthy

“There you go.” Compass Carburettor said, leaving Ranze at a secluded corner in Gaoan City, “Whatever you want to do beyond this point is entirely up to you.”

“If everything you say is the truth…” Ranze muttered, “Then, if I wanted, would I be able to return to Earth with your help?”

“It is possible, but unless all my enemies are dead, it’ll be impossible since all System-based abilities would be sealed.” Compass Carburettor said, “Are you missing your family there?”

“I was an orphan,” Ranze shook his head, “Even though I didn’t amount to much on Earth, it’s still the world I grew up in. I just wish to see how different things there are after living here. Maybe my changed perspective would give me a new outlook on life.”

“If we survive, I’ll take you there.” Compass Carburettor smiled, “Along with the family you make here. Though, there’s a big ‘If’ here, since all the Systems aiming for my life now are luck based.”

“Where are you planning to go now?” Compass Carburettor asked.

“I’ll return to my Clan.” Ranze replied, “It’s a few hours of travel from here anyway. I’ll cultivate there and find opportunities to strengthen myself.”

“I’ll accompany you after a couple of hours. I need somewhere peaceful to cultivate anyway.” Compass Carburettor said, waving his hands as he vanished, “I’ll come to find you shortly after.”

Upon seeing his figure vanish, Ranze sighed, gazing at the orbs in his hand. They were all given to him by Compass Carburettor, including an energy blade shield that he could fuse with after reaching the Martial Origin Stage.

Since he would have two bricks at that time, he could use one to fuse with the energy blade. Not only was it lightweight, but it was also tremendously tough.

He placed everything in his spatial bag, sighing as he approached the closest stable and rented a horse to travel to his Clan. “I really hate this development.”

He sighed, feeling bouts of anger for some reason before calming down, “If these enemies are real, it’ll make my life harder. I only wanted a purpose in my life here. But no matter what, I’ll protect my family from danger.”

He then rode a horse, first approaching the Giant Whale Sect’s entrance, finding the guard captain there as he gave him a parcel, “Please give this to Elder Galda. Tell him it’s a package from his disciple.”

“Alright,” The guard captain nodded, not asking why Ranze didn’t give it to the Elder by himself since he had already reached the Sect entrance.

Since he was someone that directly reported to Elder Galda anyway, he didn’t cause any trouble for Ranze, approaching Elder Galda’s house as he knocked on the door, “Elder…”

“What happened?” Elder Galda opened the door after a good couple of minutes had spanned past, looking a bit tired as he gazed at the package in the hands of the guard captain.

“Your disciple told me to give this to you?” The guard captain said.

‘What? My disciple?’ Elder Galda was shocked but hurriedly controlled his facial expression. He took the package and motioned for the guard captain to leave, closing the door shut as he placed the package in the centre of the living room.

He frowned, gazing at it for a good minute before using a stick to open it slowly. He stood before the door, ready to transform into his Divine Spirit and rush out immediately at the sign of any danger.

He thought this was Ranze’s revenge after he had survived.

“Eh? There’s my spatial pouch here.” He was surprised to see the spatial pouch in the package, accompanied by a letter. Of course, the spatial pouch was mostly empty, containing the few Essence Stones that had been in it at the start. “This is what I had given him.”

Ranze had returned what he had obtained from Elder Galda, surprising the other party. He then noticed a letter at the bottom, opening it to see a short paragraph written there.

“Elder, please forgive me for failing to live up to your expectations. I tried to search for the Ancient Adhesive but met some bandits at the entrance of the Misty Gorge Ruins. It took my everything just to survive. But, what I had seen there changed my outlook. The head of the bandits only had a Trash Martial Spirit, but had already reached the Martial Origin Stage.”

Elder Galda frowned as he read further, “But, an Origin Beast that was only in the seventh layer of the Origin Refinement Stage killed him in three hits. It wasn’t even anything special. There were dozens of such beasts all around. It made me realise how weak Trash Martial Spirits truly are.”

“My only goal for wishing to become a powerhouse was to protect Xuer. But now, I can understand it loud and clear that even if I were to reach the Martial Providence Realm, I wouldn’t even be able to defeat someone in the Martial Origin Realm that has a Human Martial Spirit, not to mention a higher Tiered one.” Elder Galda’s eyes slowly widened as he read further.

“This disciple begs for forgiveness for failing to live up to master’s expectations. Due to my incompetence, you’ve been disappointed, master. This disciple would return to his Clan and live a sheltered life. I’m not suited for cultivation. Please ask Xuer to forget about me. I’m unworthy of her.”

“Sincerely, Ranze.”

“Ke…keke…kekeke!” Elder Galda laughed, cackling soon after as he rushed out of his house, arriving at the Sect Master’s house before showing him the letter.

“Hahaha! It seems encountering danger made him realise his future prospects were dull. After all, Trash Martial Spirits can at most be our servants.” The Giant Whale Sect Master laughed.

“Sect Leader, it seems those bandits have failed. Shall we silence Ranze?” Elder Galda asked.

“Nah, leave him be.” The Sect Leader waved his hand, “He’s not worth the effort. I’ll safeguard this letter and show it to Xuer after I’ve obtained enough of her trust. With that, we’ll change her mind and make her marry into our Clan.”

“Who do you think is worthy of her, Sect Leader?” Elder Galda asked.

“Hmm…” The Sect Leader frowned in thought, sweating immediately as he gazed at Elder Galda nervously, “None…shit. She wouldn’t even bat an eye to my useless grandsons.”

“I only have granddaughters.” Elder Galda wiped his sweat, “And my only talented grandson has already married. We can’t marry Xuer to someone inferior.”

“Right, that’ll just give the perfect excuse for other Sects to invade us and snatch her away.” The Sect Leader began to worry before gritting his teeth, “I’ll beat the shit out of my grandsons daily until at least one of them becomes worthy enough to inherit the seat next to her.”
