Chapter 519 A Battle of Archers

Swish!

Boom!

Ka-Boom!

Arrows filled the air as they were constantly exchanged between two parties. They were both cultivators that had displayed their frightening battle strength, having butted heads multiple times in recent times.

It had been two months since the war began, leading to a stalemate on both sides. Neither side was able to gain in on the opponents.

Tura City was still the battlezone as after all, Compass Carburettor has erected thick walls of Dust Wave along the mountain range that covered both sides, leading from the portal to Tura City. this resulted in the entirety of the battle to be confined to just one area.

Multiple attempts had been performed to breach from the sides, but the Dust Wave wall stood tall. After all, there were dozens of Apocalypse World Compass Carburettors maintaining the Dust Wave wall.

As to where they actually were?

Tiny insects fluttered throughout the battlefield, only the size of a nail, constantly keeping away from the Systems Hosts.

They were Spydragons. And situated within each Spydragon’s stomach was a Reality Marble. When needed, they would open their mouth, causing the Apocalypse World Compass Carburettor to open an entrance and replenish the Dust Wave wall.

This was also the way in which the System Hosts were brought into the Reality Marble world. The reason these Spydragons weren’t noticed that easily was thanks to it being covered by the Mental energy Body Layer, not to mention the Origin Art of Gloss Over that was coated upon it.

This coating of Gloss Over wasn’t as powerful as the Origin Art unleashed through a shared mental connection. But it was sufficient to stay undetected in the battlefield.

Currently, a Spydragon flew close to the ground, swerving beside broken swords, severed limbs, scattered entrails, craters, etc. slowly approaching close to a certain figure.

This was a System Host that went by the name of Falls, Host to the Critical Luck System and bearing the Heaven Martial Spirit of Light Crossbow. His fusion material granted him a corrosive attribute, causing his arrows to possess deadly might.

And his opponent was of course Ranze, shielding himself with a body armour that allowed him to run at tremendous speeds, not to mention granting staunch defence.

He constantly condensed lightning arrows before shooting them towards his opponent, evading the retaliatory arrows.

Ranze was capable of fighting in any terrain and against any opponent. After all, his Martial Spirit had three versions. And each version was capable of transforming into any and all Trash Martial Spirits that he had come across.

This meant that he was someone that could use all weapon forms. Currently, he was engaged in a long-ranged battle with Falls.

At the start, Ranze sniped his opponents, taking out the Martial Providence Stage powerhouses one after another. But soon after, he noticed there was someone similar among the enemies, frowning as he probed the other party.

And upon detecting that he was a System Host, Ranze slowly exited the fort, focusing all his attacks onto Falls.

From then on, whenever either party made an appearance on the battlefield, the other party would follow suit immediately after to challenge them. They had clashed at least once every two to three days, unable to determine a victor.

Surprisingly, they were evenly matched.

‘But, he’s a far cry as compared to that man.’ Ranze thought, recalling Warktor’s figure, tightening the hold on his bow as he nocked another arrow, aiming at his opponent based on his moments before launching it.

Falls was doing everything in his power to kill Ranze but just failed all the time. After all, it wasn’t easy to breach Ranze’s armour, especially since it was created using the Unbreakable Etherite as the attribute.

Not only was it weightless, its defence was also the highest. So, even when an attack landed on Ranze, the damage was spread throughout the armour. Moreover, any damage was healed immediately after, resulting in him being uninjured until now.

The first time they fought, Ranze felt a strange sense of disorientation between his mental image and reality. After all, even though Compass Carburettor and Grisha had told him otherwise, he had subconsciously registered that all System Hosts would be as terrifying as Warktor.

But, reality was different. Slowly, over the past two months, he became used to facing a System Hosts, taking a page from Compass Carburettor as he noticed how any instant-death attacks he unleashed missed their targets.

And now, having accumulated enough data, Ranze suddenly stopped strutting about the battlefield, watching a corrosive arrow of light slam ten centimetres near his foot. There was a subtle smile on his face as Ranze bolted towards his opponent, rapidly covering the over two kilometres of distance between the two.

Boom!

Two corrosive light arrows slammed into him, raising a lot of smoke as the ground was corroded. But, Ranze’s figure vanished as immediately after, flying out of the smoke was an arrow, at speeds vastly superior as compared to before.

‘Is this his trump card?’ Falls thought, immediately aiming his crossbow at the arrow to unleash an attack while constantly being on the run.

But, when the corrosive light arrow was about to slam into Ranze’s arrow, something shocking happened as Ranze’s arrow subtly shifted its position, missing each other.

It then actually curved in the air, homing towards Falls, surprising him as he kicked up his speed, running away by transforming into a crossbow.

But suddenly, the arrow chasing after him split into two arrows, chasing him from multiple directions, each with a mind of its own, shocking him.

Bang!

The crossbow that Falls had transformed into continued to evade when suddenly, as it swerved past an arrow, it slammed into a giant shield that was akin to a wall, impossible to move across due to its sheer size.

While the two arrows were chasing Falls, the third one transformed into a shield and expanded in size rapidly, causing him to slam into it, arriving to a stop.

Immediately after, an arrow slammed into the crossbow, morphing into a chakram that began to cut into it, causing Falls to scream in pain. After all, the cut was only a surface injury, not even threatening. So, his luck didn’t passively react to it.
