Just as Gu Ren was about to go out, Ye Zhi suddenly grabbed the corner of his shirt and said: “Don’t worry. You can follow me. I will protect you.”
Gu Ren paused when he heard Ye Zhi and then chuckled to himself.
“Then I will have to trouble Mrs. Gu for protection.”
Ye Zhi and Gu Ren put on their coats and shoes before going out to the garden.
It was winter, so the flowers that bloomed in autumn had already withered, but the plum blossoms in the yard were still in bloom.
When Ye Zhi reached the garden, she was immediately surrounded by the fragrance of plum blossoms.
However, this didn’t calm Ye Zhi’s taut nerves at all. She looked around as if she was facing her enemy, while Gu Ren followed her with a calm expression from beginning to end.
It seemed almost like she was the one who could have an accident at any time instead of Gu Ren.
Seeing nothing unexpected happened even after waiting for some time, Ye Zhi gradually relaxed.
“You try to walk around a little. Maybe, you will fall.”
Gu Ren didn’t just take a few steps. He walked to the side of the swimming pool and then walked back to Ye Zhi safely.
Ye Zhi subconsciously tugged on the corner of Gu Ren’s shirt, but Gu Ren just stared at her silently.
She seems to care about me!

Gu Ren’s smile seemed to have deepened. His mood had become a lot better.

Ye Zhi and Gu Ren had been strolling around for a while. In order not to catch a cold, they decided to return inside.
Until nightfall, when the moonlight slanted into the window, Gu Ren had no accident.

Gu Ren clicked on the message from Ye Zhi.
——Gu Ren, are you safe?
Gu Ren chuckled softly. His dark eyes seemed to be shining like stars.
Gu Ren immediately replied back with a smirk.
——Don’t worry, I’m alive and kicking.
Ye Zhi finally fell asleep peacefully after receiving Gu Ren’s message.
Ye Zhi accompanied Gu Ren for a few more days. As she guessed, as long as she spent her own money to buy things for Gu Ren, nothing would happen.
After confirming her doubts, Ye Zhi planned to return the ten million to Gu Ren.
While eating breakfast, Ye Zhi finally mentioned it to Gu Ren: “I will be able to return the 10 million to you in a few days.”
