“You’re late!”

“Sorry!”

Even though I was preparing for the demon, most of what I did hadn’t changed. The only thing that had changed was that Elira and I were now in a team of two and we were going to have a mock battle against either Judy or Tiya. 2 days of monster defeat, 2 days of spirit descent training and 2 days of mock battles with Elira as my teammate. Incidentally, I’m often the one who drags the team down in mock battles. I’ve never been able to fight with anyone in a coordinated manner. With Sophie and Shana, I did whatever I wanted to do and they did whatever they wanted to do. So, for the first time, I’m trying to match someone, but it’s not easy.

“Let’s take a break.”

And every hour, there is a 20-minute break in the mock battle. Of course, a break does not mean a literal rest.

“When Judy-san attacks, you should dodge quicker!”

“No! That’s still a lot of leeway!”

“It’s the last minute for me! I wonder if I should use my defensive magic!”

In this way, during the break time, we continue to argue about the details of the mock battle. At first, Judy and Tiya tried to stop Elira from complaining, but she was forgiven on the grounds that exchanging opinions is important. But when the argument gets too heated, their eyes start to get sharp.

“You don’t have to defend me!”

“Considering the purpose of the demons coming this time, I do!”

And every time we disagree, we always end up arguing. By the way, she said that the purpose of the demons coming is to kidnap me, who has a contract with the Spirit King. This is because there will be a lot of people who won’t be satisfied with the idea of evolving into a demon. And also because the elves will not be able to ignore me if the Spirit King becomes their goal.

“And your lightning almost strikes me through my water!”

“Then why don’t you make water that doesn’t conduct electricity?”

“Then the electricity won’t flow!”

What I want to do now is to combine Elira’s spirit magic with mine. However, the problem is that my spirit magic is almost hitting Elira through the water. But if I succeed, it will be a good weapon.

“Break time’s almost over! Let’s do the next one!”

“Got it.”

“Yes!”

After almost 20 minutes of arguing, the mock battle began again.

“Haa… haa… did you really clear this? What kind of reflexes do you have…?”

Another thing that had changed was that Elira had joined me in my monster defeat and spirit descent training. The reason for this was simply to increase Elira’s power and also so that she and I can work well together in defeating the demons. By the way, Elira’s level was 82. It seems that she’s doing pretty well. Basically, it’s hard for long-lived elves to raise their level. Since she came back from her study abroad, Elira had been killing monsters in her spare time. She continued to do so even after I arrived. By the way, her level was 65 when she just came back from studying abroad and although I had always called her by her first name, Elira’s age was much older than mine. When I asked her in detail how old she was, she hit me. Since then, I’ve been curious about her age, but I try not to ask. But I’m pretty sure she’s above fifty, since elves aren’t allowed to study abroad until they’re fifty.

“By the way, I released one fifth the number of shadows as I did with Zeros-sama.”

“Are you really human?”

“I’m still human!”

And what Elira is doing is the training to avoid being caught by the shadows that has been so helpful to me in the past two months. Elira’s spirit descent itself is lean and flawless. That’s why she’s practicing her magic sensing. I don’t think she’s being harassed by Tiya.

“You are definitely not human!”

“I am human! For now, at least!”

And now we’re defeating monsters. By the way, today’s menu is to slash the first joints of two front legs and two back legs before defeating them. This is troublesome because now there are two of us, so I have to check every time I slash something that I didn’t slash before. Thanks to my fast reflexes, I’m able to check and then either cut or kill depending on the part that’s still there. However, Elira wasn’t able to attack because the monsters were attacking her by the time I finished checking. That’s why she’s wondering if I’m human again. I don’t know if I’m still human because I’m being doubted so much. But I guess I’ll quit being human when I evolve, so I don’t have to worry about whether I’m human or not.

“Well, we’re done for the day!”

“Thank you very much.”

“Yes.”

The level of fatigue was quite different between Elira and me. Whenever I had time, I would tell her about the progress of the menu for the monsters she was facing, but even then, she would have a hard time checking things that she normally never did. I’ve been doing this for a long time, so I’m pretty used to it. By the way, there’s a proper purpose for this menu, which is to develop the habit of observing the other person carefully.

“Come on, let’s go home.”

“……”

I reached out my hand to help Elira stand up, she sat down tiredly the moment we finished. It’s time to stand up or Judy is going to get mad. Without saying a word, Elira turned away, took my hand and stood up.

“….. Thanks for following for me today… you’ve been very helpful.”

“You’re welcome.”

Elira whispered to me as she walked past me. I’m not deaf, so I could hear her clearly. Then Elira and I started running after Judy. The last time I was running after her, I ran into a demon and since then, Judy and I have been getting closer. These days were still a little new to me.
