Chapter 253: Me and Sophie’s Plans

“Hey, Sophie.”

“Yes?”

“Do you think we need to train together?”

After the team mock battle was over, I went home and talked to Sophie in my room. I had been trying to make it look like I was training along with the others today, but I didn’t mean what I was actually doing.

But I don’t think there was any point in what we were actually doing. The way we work together is that I move freely enough not to get in Sophie’s way, and she moves accordingly. That kind of coordination is already in place. Sophie is so perfectly in tune with me that I suspect she has the same thought process as I do.

“If I had to say, I would say that I would act in a way that would make it easier for you to move…”

“Nii-sama, you move exactly how I want, so it’s okay.”

Maybe that’s just the result of Sophie anticipating my movements and moving accordingly… Besides, the way she put it, it sounds like she’s manipulating my thoughts.

“But then what are we supposed to do?”

“I’ve already thought of that.”

“Oh, I see…”

What the hell…did Sophie have an idea of what I was worried about?

“Me and…no, Nii-sama would like you to hunt monsters and raise your level in order to become as strong as possible while the others are training.”

“Level up?”

“Yes.”

It’s true that the power of the heroes is unknown. I can’t win because they were stronger than I thought they would be. I am sorry for the spirits. What a thing to say.

“If possible, I would like to train to separate devils and other spirits away from the heroes…”

“I don’t think that’s possible, is it?”

“I don’t think I can do it after all.”

Originally, I wanted to have a special training to pull off the separation. But it seems that such a thing is impossible.

First of all, it’s very rare for the three kings to make a contract with someone. Bros told me that it’s normal for kings not to make a contract in their lifetime.

Furthermore, they’re being forced to sign a contract by a hero. I’d never heard of anything like this before. There was no way I could train to deal with such an irregularity! That was the consensus of the three of us.

So the only way to pull it off was to do it on the spot. The key method was for the three of them to come out of me and directly send the spirits, devils, and beasts back to the world where they lived. In the meantime, I have to keep sending a large amount of magical power to force the three of them to send them back. During that time, I probably won’t even have time to use the magic power I brought from the spirit world with the help of Zeal. In other words, I have to fight with the heroes without magic power, albeit temporarily.

“Of course, I’ll support you, so there will be no problem.”

“I suppose so.”

However, according to the schedule, Sophie will use various magic to hold down the three heroes while they are being pulled off. So my burden shouldn’t be that big.

“But there aren’t any monsters I can level up with, you know?”

I had defeated monsters outside the royal capital a few times with Elira, but there was no sign of any level up at all.

“Yes. So we’re going to stay overnight.”

“What? We’re going to leave the other members alone?”

If we go on an overnight trip, we won’t be able to come back so easily, which means I will not be able to help them if they have any problems.

“Don’t worry about that. Shana has a magic tool that can send a signal, although it’s long distance and one-way. If anything happens, they’ll let us know and we’ll return.”.

“No, so the problem is that if we hurry back, it will take longer, right?”

“Don’t worry about that either. I can now transfer two people at the same time. But I’ll not be able to do so for three days.”

“I see. Then I can rest assured.”

“Yes.”

Sophie seemed to have eliminated the element of uneasiness. Now I can go to the next level with peace of mind.

What’s wrong? Isn’t there something a little too much to ask for?

“Did you have such a magic tool…Sophie?”

“I asked Shana to bring it for me from the third treasury.”

“Eh? Hey!? Are you sure?”

In case you are wondering, the king has given permission to do this because it is for the inter-school competition. I got impatient thinking that Sophie had Shana steal it. I have a feeling that Shana’s skills could do it if she wanted to….

“And…just to make sure. Who’s going to level up?”

“Me and you, Nii-sama.”

“Just the two of us?”

“Yes.”

“And you’ll be staying with me for a few days?”

“Yes.”

“When do we start?”

“Tomorrow.”

“Why didn’t you tell me before you started?”

“Because I was afraid you’d say no.”

“I wouldn’t have turned you down if you just wanted to level up. Do you have something else you plan to do?”

“Are you going to make me, a woman, tell you that?”

“Hey! What are you doing? Hah …… so what are your real intentions?”

When I let out a sigh and finally said that, Sophie’s face changed from a joking look to a serious one. I knew that what Sophie had just said was a joke.

“I didn’t want anyone to know too much about your most recent behavior.”

“What was the reason?”

“I can’t tell you.”

“I understand.”

The only reason why I obediently listen to what she says without asking why is because she’s Sophie. No one else would make such a sudden change of action without a reason being given. I need to have enough trust in Sophie to know that she’d never betray me.

“Sophie, you seem to have your own reasons for not telling me, so I won’t ask.”

“Thank you.”

After that, we had a meeting for tomorrow. We’d only be hunting monsters for a week or so. Sophie seemed to have prepared everything we needed. It seems that we’ll be training individually.

“Good night, Nii-sama.”

“Good night.”

And when the meeting was over, Sophie got up from her bed to leave my room.

“Oh, Nii-sama.”

“What?”

But Sophie grabbed the doorknob and turned around.

“I wasn’t kidding about the reason I didn’t let you know in advance earlier.”

“Eh?”

“See you tomorrow, Nii-sama.”

“Huh? Eh? Huh?”

What is it? What part of this isn’t a joke?

Isn’t it a joke that she didn’t want me to know what she’s doing? Or is it not a joke that she wanted to spend the night alone with me?

Which part of this is not a joke? Why is she being so vague about that!
