Am I Going to Die?

(Eutilia’s POV)

The four knights, Eutilia, Russell, Pan, and Lindel, were senior members and colleagues of the Imperial Guard.

They crossed many obstacles together and rose to their present position.

When there were sad things, they cried together. When there were happy things, they were happier than anyone else, so they were tied up in the name of friends.

Therefore, the three people except Lindel did not want to believe this situation.

The three knights that came into the emperor’s bedroom collapsed to the floor as soon as the heavy doors closed.

Instead of stopping them, the knights guarding the door tried to turn their heads.

Out of respect for them.

“…You laughed.”

Eutilia’s face, which had been playfully smiling in front of Lindel all the time, had hardened.

Her pink eyes were fixed on the floor, only thinking of her close friend’s face. Lindel’s usual gruff smile was unforgettable.

“How can you laugh?”

Russell couldn’t help but burst into tears as the gloomy voice uttered in vain. It was pitiful to see him biting his arm so as not to make a sound while lying on the floor.

Pan, who was next to Russell, could not stop such a friend, but instead hugged his trembling back.

Pan’s face was also wet with tears.

“I shouldn’t have believed that it was okay!”

Pan shouted in an angry tone, wiping away the uncontrollably flowing tears.

In the meantime, the three of them travelled around the world to meet Lindel. However, seeing her imprisoned in the Northern Palace, which is in the Emperor’s domain, was difficult.

Eutilia asked Shuline, the commander, and went back to ask all my acquaintances earnestly, but they couldn’t meet Lindel.

In such a situation, people’s inconsiderate voices tormented them.

Sacrifice. Love. All the achievements Lindel made were praised. People praised Lindel as great, but everyone ended up settling with her death.

That’s why the people said it was great. They dared to say that the sacrifice of one’s life was beautiful.

Each and every word left a deep scar on the hearts of the three people.

After she struggled in frustration every day, she was finally allowed to meet Lindel.

‘Lindel is in bad shape. So don’t make it obvious and be careful.’

But the situation was hopeless. The person who guided the three to Lindel said so in a subdued voice.

They didn’t want to believe it because it was like a death sentence to prepare for the end.

But when Eutilia opened the door and saw Lindel’s presence as part of a faded portrait.

They had to admit it.

‘It’s okay. I’m just tired.’

From a certain day on, Lindel often made mistakes that she wouldn’t usually make. When asked what was going on, Lindel shook her head in embarrassment. At the time, they just ignored it.

After that, she started to get injured. Her palm was torn because she missed the sword, and she was also stumbling from an attack that would normally have been easily dodged.

The weakened muscle on her arms and legs quickly developed bruised.

‘Is something wrong?’

‘I’m sorry. I’ll do it right next time.’

Eutilia thought she was just tired because her face looked completely exhausted.

But when Lindel’s sleeves were red with bloodstains. When Eutilia found a stain on her bed that she couldn’t wipe off.

They finally realized that something was wrong.

‘Tell me the truth, Lindel. Are you sure you’re really okay?’

‘It’s okay. I’m okay. There’s nothing to worry about.’

They were vaguely feeling it. That Lindel is not fine. But they deliberately turned a blind eye to the numerous signals.

It was because they were afraid that something terrible would happen if she admitted that it was not okay.

But now, there was no way to turn a blind eye to the cruel truth that was presented right in front of them.

“What if Lindel dies?”

“Don’t be silly, Russell!”

Eutilia reacted sharply to Russell’s weak voice.

Her clenched fist trembled with fear, but she didn’t seem to notice. The eyes that stared at Russell were already filled with tears.

“That can’t be true.”

My voice trembled with tears.

‘It’s okay.’

Even at this moment, Eutilia couldn’t blame her sweet friend for telling her it was okay, so she blamed herself.

The cries she had been holding back came out unbearably loud.
