When we got back to the orphanage, Grandpa took the cloth fabric and ran into the house where Sakuya would be.

We went to the back of the house and separated the queens from the wolf car and put our stuff in the item box.

After this, Cruz wanted to sharpen his sword, but it didn't have a scabbard, so we decided to go ahead and make one.

Cheap weapons don't have sheaths, so I had to either buy a new one or use my old one, but I heard from the old man how to make a simple scabbard, so I decided to make one myself.

By the way, the shortsword I've been using until now is a cheap, used scabbard.

Before making the scabbard, I made a stone sword of the same weight and length as the one I bought with earth magic and gave it to Cruz.

I've made this sword the same weight and length as this one, so you can practice with it for now.

Oh, okay, I get it. But isn't it bad to practice with a sword?

It's not good, but it's hard to make a scabbard without a real one.

Oh, I see. Then leave the scabbard to me!

Saying this, Mr. Cruz ran into the yard.

And I got the sword and the wood, and also the sword and the knife I took.

Now let's get to work on the scabbard! I was just about to start making the scabbard when some kids from the orphanage came up to me.

"Hey Shu, are you going to do some woodwork now?

'Yeah, I think I'm going to make a scabbard for the sword I bought, and then I'm going to work on sharpening it.

Can we watch that one, too?

I don't mind. What's going on?

'No, we're probably going to have to become adventurers, so we've got a master to train us, but we thought we could work as carpenters or blacksmiths if we learned our trade. Besides, you might need to be an adventurer, right? So I figured I'd learn it while I could.

It's true that the kids who come here are the ones who can't get a job in the town's shops, doing day labor manual labor or helping out at the orphanage. They're all older than Cruz and Ilya, so they'll be adventurers first.

'Then it's better to try than to see, isn't it? We have a good amount of materials, and if we fail, we can make firewood. Oh, but we don't have the tools, so we'll have to do it in order or we'll all have to work together!

Okay. We'll all try to work together for now.

I then handed them the woodworking tools and instructed them to make it out of an orphanage chair.

I have a sample and if we get a good one, we can trade it, so we can kill two birds with one stone.

I handed him the tools, so I began the process of making the scabbard with magic. Since there are no tools, the detailed work must be done with magic, and it's going to be quite an exercise in magic.

As I was working, the old man came out of the house with a disappointed look on his face.

Well, it was predictable, but when I spoke to the old man, he was pleased when I gave him the cloth, as I expected, but

I heard they kicked him out right away. He's still an unsympathetic old man.

I told him about the other kids wanting to learn woodworking and asked him to give me a simple explanation.

He made a chair once at the kids' place and explained it to me.

Incidentally, he had made a chair once and failed, and it had already been turned into firewood.

When the grandfather finished his explanation, he took the wooden sword from me and went to where Cruz was.

I managed to make a scabbard and sharpened the swords, and then finished the day's work.
