The leader shakily stood up, placing a supporting hand on his aching chest. He grunted in pain as his movement aggravated the aftermath of Lillie's strike. Spitting the blood he coughed up, he watches his men fall one by one.

Lillie Bai and Wei Fang are defeating his men without breaking a sweat. At first glance, anyone would've thought that they were outnumbered and outgunned, and are more likely to lose.

None would've guessed that this armed group would be overwhelmed by two people.

Pathetic.

Both of them are ruthless.

If only the little white face wasn't here, they would at least stood a chance against Lillie Bai.

Cursing under his breath, the leader gnashed his teeth furiously. He can't say that he's quite lucky that she didn't kill him with that jab. His ribs are broken and he's bleeding internally—if the dark blueish skin is any indication. She must've ruptured a vein in his lung, making it difficult for him to breathe.

"Aaarghh!" One of his men screamed as a large beast leaped towards him and bit his neck.

Reassessing his thoughts, he'll say with confidence that yeah, luck is not with him. He's still alive, but he feels dead.

The gun on his belt holster felt heavy.

He'll die anyway, so what if he decided to pull one of them with him to hell?

"Lillie, watch out!" Wei Fang exclaimed from ahead. But it didn't look like she heard him over the goons' war cries.

His eyes widened in apprehension as the man behind her stood up and was preparing to shoot her.

He thought she was too busy fending off her opponents that she didn't notice that the leader managed to pick himself up and c.o.c.ked his gun with a shaky hand.

However, it looks like he was having a hard time focusing on his target. Lillie moving around constantly made it difficult. With this, Wei Fang will have time to make it to him and knock him out for good.

He's planning to kill her. Good, this makes everything appear real.

Huh?

Wei Fang staggered.

Striking one of her opponents on the sternum, Lillie stepped back to avoid another incoming hit that was targeting her abdomen. She retaliated by snapping the man's neck with a kick. The attack was coated with rage.

No one attacks her baby and gets to live the next second.

Suddenly, the air around them thickened. It crawled through her skin, if the goosebumps were any indication.

From the corner of her eyes, she saw Wei Fang standing there, dazed, and as if frozen in time.

Shadow cast over his eyes. When he slowly lifted his head, it allowed her to take a good look at his face. The glint in his eyes changed.

Crazy Fang woke up.

Despite being preoccupied with her thoughts and opponents, she didn't miss the movement behind her. The first victim of her ruthlessness, the leader of this group, stood up and attempted to aim his gun at her.

The trigger was pulled, and the bullet zoomed through the air with an ear-piercing ring. Lillie was ready to evade it by either using her opponent's body as a shield again or sidestepping it.

In the end, it was none of the choices. Her feet were off the ground, and she found herself wrapped in a protective, yet possessively tight, embrace.

Wei Fang sprinted towards her with shocking speed and propelled himself against her. Both of them toppled over. He made sure to secure Lillie on his chest as he let his back absorb the impact of their harsh fall.

Lillie couldn't contain the gasp from escaping her lips. This idiot and his needless act of heroism had risked her baby's safety! The landing wasn't soft in the slightest. Fortunately, he made himself her cushion.

"What were you thinking!" She roared, glaring at him fiercely. Giving no show of concern as she watches him groan in pain beneath her.

"A thank you would've been nice." He muttered, eyes shut.

"Your action is needless. Therefore, thankless." She snapped, trying to peel herself off from his offending limbs. He wouldn't budge.

"Let go!" She demands angrily. He's starting to piss her off. "We're in the middle of being attacked. If you want to die, die by yourself. Don't involve me in your twisted goal."

"You're hurting my feelings, Thea." He chuckled. Covering the back of her head, he rolled their bodies away from the rain of bullets.

Picking the discarded gun near him, he killed the remaining four with a precise shot in the head.

Clicking her tongue in annoyance, Lillie unlatched herself from him and dusted her clothes. She scanned her eyes on the carnage they created and fixed her attention on the leader.

She was planning on sparing him to question his true purpose. This attack wasn't random, that's all she could say.

The list of people who would want her maimed or dead is endless.

Preferably, she would've wanted him alive—it makes things easier to extract information. His death was unfortunate. Regardless, it wouldn't affect her search.

There were few eye-witnesses from the convenience store and everything was caught on the CCTVs. However, Lillie and Wei Fang's actions weren't compromised in the eyes of law; justified as self-defense.

In this case, blood was spilled by Lillie and Wei Fang for a good reason. Both are heirs to their respective families and are revered public figures. The people they've injured and killed threatened and attempted to take their lives.

Furthermore, they were unarmed. So that strengthens their defense.

Well, slightly unarmed if you count the large wolf as an armed force with his killer maw.

Most of the gangsters were critically injured, seven of them were dead.

The incident wasn't aired in public, and the eye-witnesses were sworn secrecy—not that it would stop them from shooting their mouths off.

It's an open secret that most, if not all, high-standing families have at least dirtied their hands once or twice in their lives. Hid some skeletons in their closet.

From the media's perspective, it was a shame that their actions were justified. It would've been a juicy piece in their report.

Thankfully, there were no paparazzi or reporters who caught a whiff of it. There was one person who was secretly filming everything after he saw Lillie and Wei Fang together—assuming something was going on between them.

The phone was confiscated, undoubtedly. It was to use the footage as evidence before permanently deleting it.

Being two of the most influential figures in society, Lillie and Wei Fang naturally have backings from the authorities. The government was willing to cover for them.

"You're both good to go, Miss Bai, Mr. Wei. We'll handle everything from here." The chief of police bowed his head. "I apologize for wasting too much of your time."

"No worries. Thank you for your service, chief." Wei Fang smiled as he sat inside the ambulance while a nurse applies first-aid to his wound.

Oh, did Lillie forgot to mention he was shot from the bullet that was meant for her? Well, now you know. She's still not thanking him for it though. He was being an idiot.

"I'll explain everything to my father. You go ahead and have your wound tended."

"You should go to the hospital with me, Thea." He worriedly said.

"My knuckles are only grazed and bruised, Mr. Wei," From punching so many people, "it's nothing serious."

Besides, the nurse already cleaned and dressed it.

Although, she would need to secretly see Doctor Song Zhihao after this to check her baby's condition. That impact on the ground with Wei Fang worries her. She doesn't feel any discomfort in her abdomen, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

"I hope you get well soon," She said out of politeness. Turning around, she caught him frowning from her peripheral view but she ignores it.

Maybe if she upsets him enough with her attitude, he would leave her alone.

"You need a bath and a thorough brush on your teeth, Storm," Lillie said to the wolf. It may be unnoticeable due to his dark coat, but his fur is tainted with blood, especially in the snout area.

Storm whimpered. He hates bathing.

"It's for your own good." She coaxed as she drove home. She'll just ask Elliot to deliver the paperworks.
