Han Taiyi and Chu Lizheng weren't surprised how their benefactor figured out that they were from Soaring Dragon Academy. They deduced it's probably the same reason as how the Demons who attacked them earlier did. They must've been seen in public while in their uniforms as they either patrol or stroll around the city.

It was a foolish mistake on their part for not thinking of a better disguise than just going out in their casual clothes.

After successfully entering the stadium and blending in among the audience to watch the tournament, they assumed they were safe from being recognized, especially since no one bothered them.

Who knew that those Demons who attacked them simply didn't bother because the tournament was more interesting than cornering the two Heaven students.

More importantly, they wouldn't have dared create a ruckus in an event operated by Vermillion Dragon. This particular Underworld Leader is notorious for being easily offended and then seeking retribution by a hundredfold for the insult.

But the sudden incursion of White Bird released them from this restriction.

"This humble one thanks kind benefactors for quelling the scrimmage." Chu Lizheng lightly bends his waist to bow. "Benefactor is correct, we are disciples of Soaring Dragon, and we are this young one's senior. I apologize for our previous outburst. We forget ourselves upon seeing our junior being held by a stranger whose intentions are unclear to us. Be as it may whether this stranger and his companions helped us."

Han Taiyi followed her partner's gesture and lightly bowed even if she's against the idea.

"For how we are here, I don't see how that's any of your business." Han Taiyi quipped, forgoing the niceties and geniality the Academy engraves in their students.

"A'Yi…" Chu Lizheng softly scolds her.

"We appreciate your help. But don't presume that I'll treat you as if you've hung the moon and stars. At most, I'll tolerate you."

"I don't expect you to. Being straightforward is much preferable than hiding behind a mask of ingenuine politeness.

"I'm pleased to hear that we see eye-to-eye. But let me get this straight first. My partner here isn't pretending to be polite. He's the embodiment of politeness, that's who he is." Han Taiyi nodded. She hears Chu Lizheng sighing helplessly beside her, but she ignores him. A'Zheng, ah, don't look at me like that. See, I was just clearing the doubt. I wouldn't want you to lose face.

"Of course. I can feel his sincerity." No one saw the corner of Lillie's lips twitch. She chuckled in her mind, amused by the spectacle in front of her. It was a relief to know that Han Taiyi could still be hilarious in any situation, even if she didn't realize it.

"I can make a guess why you two are here. Judging from what I witnessed during your fights, your level of strength could be that of a Sun rank." Lillie appraised. "Sun, and the ranks above it, are the ones usually involved in the matters of the Underworld. How come this young lady, who I undoubtedly assume is an Earth student, is here."

Yang Nina shrinks under their scrutinizing looks. Only for this particular moment that she forget what shame is and proceeded to sink her face into her benefactor's chest to hide.

"We…are also kept in the dark on how she ended up here." Chu Lizheng admitted. "In our case, however, let's simply say that we were…misguided."

He doesn't need to elaborate. It wasn't hard for Lillie to pick up the pieces and make an educated guess on who exactly 'misguided' her sibling disciples into this place.

Han Taiyi and Chu Lizheng are the newest direct disciples of Gentle Tempest Courtyard. To be frank, Grandmaster Yang didn't waste time in sabotaging anything that concerned her Grandmaster Wei.

All she has to do is to report this to her master while he can handle the rest and take whatever action he sees fit. It also wouldn't be hard to gather evidence that connects Grandmaster Yang as the orchestrator of this ill-fated incident.

"I…"

Everyone returned their attention to the young girl in Lillie's arms.

"I know…I'm not supposed to be here…" Yang Nina's voice was soft and meek, almost pitiful. As if she was bullied. "Now that I think of it, it's a bit funny how I still end up here despite the warnings I got." She laughs listlessly.

"Xiao Nina?" Han Taiyi frowned.

"I'm sorry for being a burden, Yi-jie, Zheng-ge. If it weren't for me, you two would've gotten out of this place easily and wouldn't have amassed those injuries that were meant for me—"

"Cease blaming everything to yourself." Lillie interrupts.

"But I—"

"So what if your seniors got hurt protecting you? That was their choice. I can tell that they treasure you very much and they make it their responsibility to protect you, not out of obligation but out of familiality. You blaming yourself is only dishonoring their sacrifices."

Yang Nina's eyes widened before turning to look at her seniors, as if asking for affirmation. Something that put weight on her benefactor's words.

Their grim but non-denying expressions confirms it.

Like a broken dam, the tears Yang Nina tried to hold bursted out.

"I…I'm sorry…" She chokes out.

"Oh, Xiao Nina," Han Taiyi's heart clenched painfully watching her junior sister cry herself out. She stepped forward and reached for her head to give it a comforting pat. Her other hand cupped her cheek to wipe some of her tears trailing down.

"None of this was your fault. You didn't ask for any of this to happen. So please, don't blame yourself. I'll cry."

"You're already crying."

"You lie."

Yang Nina chuckled at that and sniffled. Calmness came to her gradually. She wanted to wipe her tear-stained face. Sadly, there's nothing she could use to do the job. Her hands and sleeves are dirty.

"Xiao Nina, could you tell us what happened to you? Why were you here?" Chu Lizheng, thankfully, had a clean handkerchief tucked in safety of his jacket's inner pockets. He hands it to Han Taiyi, who then promptly wipes their junior sister's face.

Yang Nina's chest warms up.
