Chapter 3: Set off to record the show

Luan Zhen had not expected Qiao Dai would be so candid. In order to prove her strength to participate in the show, she had directly lifted the barbell to show them. Such a childish but direct approach had Luan Zhen find Qiao Dai even more interesting.
“Lin Lang, can you lift a 20kg barbell?”
Luan Zhen couldn’t help asking with sarcasm and Lin Lang immediately smiled with some shame: “I didn’t know Qiao Dai was so good, look at me, I just worry too much.”

Luan Zhen did not want to talk to Lin Lang anymore and their agent Ling Na held Qiao Dai’s hand with delight before saying with some surprise: “Qiao Dai works very hard. I like serious and determined children. Remember, the five of you are trainees from the same agency. When you participate in the show, you will have to face competitors from other major companies. They are your biggest opponent, do you understand? Alright, let’s move on and head to the venue.”

Ling Na was in her early thirties and had been in the entertainment industry for many years. How could she not see through those young girls’ thoughts?
Although Jiang Ruowei looked outstanding, her personality was lacking and she easily offended people; Lin Lang was more agreeable but her appearance was slightly inferior; as for Shi Qing, it was a pity she had been exposed to scandals before, otherwise she would have been much better than the other two.
After much deliberation, Ling Na felt that the most promising among this batch of trainees was by far Luan Zhen. But as she glanced at Qiao Dai, she did not know if she had been enlightened or something else, but she gave people a bright feeling.

Now that everyone was there, Ling Na took Qiao Dai and the four other trainees to the van parked outside, ready to set off to the show.

Jiang Ruowei was very dissatisfied with how Qiao Dai had such big limelight early in the morning, but she did not dare to find trouble with her or Luan Zhen anymore and viciously slammed into Shi Qing’s shoulder on the way to the car.
Shi Qing did not say anything and silently started to follow when she felt a warm hand on her shoulder, before turning her head to meet Qiao Dai’s bright eyes.
“Thank you just now.”
As an animal, Qiao Dai was keenly aware of the likes and dislikes of others towards her. Although Shi Qing had not finished her sentence earlier, Qiao Dai knew she had wanted to help, and watching her get hit by Jiang Ruowei, she stretched out her hand to rub Shi Qing’s shoulder.
Qiao Dai’s palm was soft and warm. When her fingers touched Shi Qing’s shoulder, she had felt warmhearted all over.
“No, it was nothing.”
No wonder Luan Zhen had become friends with Qiao Dai. Who wouldn’t like such a kind and cute girl? Thinking about this, Shi Qing could only reply in a low and somewhat timid voice.

Jiang Ruowei, who had been walking ahead, noticed the movement behind her. She stopped to take a look at Qiao Dai and Shi Qing before sneering: “Qiao Dai, let me remind you that Shi Qing is not as innocent as she looks. You better be careful before you become friends, she will bring you trouble.”
When she heard Jiang Ruowei’s words, Shi Qing who was about to speak, froze instantly and started to shake. Luan Zhen raised her eyebrows and said coldly: “Jiang Ruowei!”
Lin Lang also opened her mouth: “Well, Ruowei, say less. We are on the same team right now, we should help each other.”
Because Lin Lang and her had a good relationship, Jiang Ruowei stopped talking. But before getting in the car, she did not forget to shout at Shi Qing in a cold voice: “You stay away from me, I don’t want to sit with you!”
Lin Lang shook her head helplessly and said she would go persuade Jiang Ruowei before sitting next to her. Obviously, in their five trainees group, the two of them were a pair.

“Shi Qing, let’s sit together.”
Qiao Dai retracted her gaze and looked at the nervous girl beside her. Hearing her, Shi Qing looked flattered, she had not expected Qiao Dai would still sit next to her after Jiang Ruowei’s words. Although everyone was from the same agency, they were still competitors and Shi Qing could not help but ask her: “You… Don’t you have any doubt about me?”
Didn’t she believe she was the kind of person Jiang Ruowei said and that she would bring her bad luck?
“I am worried.”
Before Shi Qing could even finish formulating her thoughts, Qiao Dai had already nodded her head and answered. Shi Qing was slightly startled and a bitter feeling spread in her heart. Sure enough, people like her with so many dark spots couldn’t make friends here. She could not blame others, she understood why they would feel this way.
But the next second, she noticed Qiao Dai’s expression which gave her a completely different feeling. Shi Qing watched Qiao Dai look at her up and down with a concerned expression and say: “Shi Qing, you are too thin. I am worried people will bully you.”
In the world of sea otters, being too thin and small made otters easy targets for the bad guys of the ocean. Although everyone would protect the little guys, it was necessary to eat well and grow strong and healthy for safety.
Roundness was the beauty standard for sea otters. From a human perspective, the limbs needed to be well proportioned, and Shi Qing looked too thin; a gust of wind could blow her away, this was not good!
Shi Qing: ??
Was that what Qiao Dai meant by worrying?
Shi Qing felt a little lost. She had not expected Qiao Dai would understand her words this way, just like a child. But… it felt very warm.
“Yes, thank you. I will try my best to eat more.”
Shi Qing felt a little embarrassed as soon as she spoke. What on earth was she talking about? This kind of coaxing tone… would Qiao Dai be angry and think she was treating her like a fool?
But Qiao Dai was not unhappy at all. On the contrary, she nodded seriously and said: “Yes, we must eat well!” before pulling Shi Qing and Luan Zhen into the car.
It couldn’t be helped, sea otters were the best at eating, drinking, and sleeping.

While Qiao Dai’s words had been very literal, to Jiang Ruowei it had sounded entirely different. What did she mean by being bullied by others? They were going to participate in a talent show, not a fighting competition. How was she going to get bullied? Was Qiao Dai pulling Shi Qing’s strings and saying that the rest of the contestants would come to suppress them?
Jiang Ruowei naturally put herself in the “bully” category Qiao Dai was talking about and could not help but look at her differently. She now felt that Qiao Dai was particularly irritating; this silly white lotus was actually a real green tea, she had really underestimated her. Thinking of this, Jiang Ruowei immediately became more wary of Qiao Dai. For the first time, she felt that this country bumpkin would possibly become a threat in the future.

When everyone got in the car, Ling Na once again took the time to go over the characteristics of the <Pick Eleven> program. For the trainees that had listened to it multiple times already, they did not really pay attention to it. But for Qiao Dai that had just transmigrated, she listened very carefully.
Although a lot of information had poured into her mind before, she had not been able to fully understand everything and Qiao Dai needed to collect more knowledge about <Pick Eleven> in order to grasp the purpose of the competition more clearly. After all, she did not want to become a sea otter hit on the head by a peach.

There were 101 trainees participating in <Pick Eleven>, from small to large entertainment agencies. They would be assigned to five classes according to their performance: A, B, C, D and F, 11 trainees in Class A, 15 in Class B, 20 in Class C, 25 in Class D, and 30 in class F. And in the end, only the contestants in class A would qualify for their debut.

The agency behind the show was the industry’s leader, Shengshi Entertainment, who had stronger investors than any other. The most eye-catching of them was the Cheng family that had started out with maritime trade. It was said that the heir of the Cheng Group intended to expand their territory to the entertainment industry and use <Pick Eleven> as a springboard to promote their Galaxy Media’s artists.

In the novel, Ruan Tao, who would ultimately make her C-debut and receive the winning crown, was an artist from Galaxy Media. Not only that but the agency would occupy more than half of the eleven debut spots. In other words, if the trainees were from Galaxy Media, it could almost be said that they had already succeeded halfway.

Qiao Dai thought for a while. Although their agency was small, it could also be regarded as a subsidiary of Galaxy Media. They could almost be considered as Galaxy Media’s trainees this way, couldn’t they? Putting it this way, she was not that far from success.

“What are you thinking about to make you laugh so happily?”
The closer the venue, the more anxious the group became. Only Qiao Dai was smiling brightly which made the originally nervous Luan Zhen calm down. It was strange but as long as Qiao Dai was around, stress and irritability would disappear and leave people with a relaxing feeling. Like being at home, sitting without care on the couch, holding their pet in their arms, and petting their little furry heads to their heart’s content.

So when Qiao Dai and the four other trainees arrived at the recording, many people saw such a bizarre scene. When everybody was nervous, unfamiliar, and looking at each other anxiously, they noticed a group of smiling girls get out of a van. They were laughing and joking with each other in a relaxed and natural manner, as if they were not on their way to participate in the draft but to an autumn excursion.
Particularly the girl walking in the front. She was like a kid going out for the first time, looking around with novelty, her round eyes full of curiosity, each and every move full of innocence and bashful naivete only a child could have, making all onlookers unable to keep their heart from stirring.

Even the cameraman who was in charge of shooting the reactions of the players brightened when he saw the group arrive and pointed his lens in Qiao Dai’s direction. Before the show had yet to officially start, Qiao Dai had already attracted countless shots unknowingly.
This girl was promising! The cameraman looked at the innocent Qiao Dai and couldn’t help but think so
