Chapter 38: Little treasure for you~

“Mister, do you need help with your suitcase?”
Cheng Su dragged his luggage into the parking lot and the staff quickly came forward to ask if he needed any assistance.
“No.”
Seeing someone coming over, Cheng Su instinctively took a step forward to block the suitcase behind him from view. The employee nodded politely and left as soon as he realized the man didn’t like strangers to approach him.
As soon as he disappeared from his sight, Cheng Su turned around and pulled the car door open before placing the luggage in the back seat. He then took place behind the wheel and started the vehicle.

The car sped along the road steadily and the scenery outside the window quickly receded. A rustling sound came from the back seat and a little sea otter discreetly opened the zipper of the suitcase. She was not in a hurry to get out but hid in the suitcase and secretly observed the man who was driving.
Cheng Su seemed to feel Qiao Dai’s gaze; he glanced at the rearview mirror and met a pair of round eyes peeking from the bag.
Qiao Dai: “!!!”
When their eyes met, Qiao Dai instinctively lowered her head and pulled the opened lid down, hiding once more in the suitcase, and stretched out a small paw to close the zipper again.
Cheng Su: “…”
Qiao Dai hid in her bag for a long time and stayed silent. After confirming there was no movement outside, she poked out her head again. The man was concentrating on driving the car and didn’t look like he was planning on eating her.
Even so, Qiao Dai couldn’t relax. She hid in her suitcase in fear and didn’t intend to go out at all; if the killer whale changed his mind and suddenly attacked her, she could just close the zipper directly.

Qiao Dai’s thoughts were easy to understand, and Cheng Su glanced at her lying in the suitcase and refusing to come out. He couldn’t help but snort in his heart but didn’t bother with her and let her do as she wanted.
Qiao Dai kept peeking through the gap of the zipper, without saying a word. After staring at the man for a while, she suddenly realized she didn’t know his name yet had stupidly followed him to his car!
For a moment, the little sea otter felt like she had been overturned by a big wave in the sea! Her body was soaked in the cold water and chills spread all over. The orca hadn’t eaten her yet but it didn’t mean he wouldn’t in the future! Qiao Dai glanced at the inside of her suitcase and felt she had just been packed in a box lunch; when the man would get hungry, he would just have to come over and snack on a little sea otter!

Thinking about this, Qiao Dai became more and more nervous. Taking advantage of the man’s attention on the road, she tried to lean on the handle of the car door but realized it was locked.
“What are you doing?”
Just as she was trying to escape, the man’s low voice sounded in the small space of the car. They were currently stopped at a red light and he turned around to look at Qiao Dai. His eyes had some doubt in them and one of his eyebrows was slightly raised; he was very handsome yet gave people an invisible sense of oppression.
Cheng Su rarely lost his temper but his voice had been very low since childhood and he used it to give people a strong offensive feeling when he spoke. At this moment, he was simply asking casually but Qiao Dai was shivering all over and hiding into the suitcase in fright once more, not daring to move.
Qiao Dai lowered her little furry head and asked in a low voice: “I want to ask who you are… Why are you helping me?”
Although they were both from the marine clan, she was just a weak little sea otter and the man was a killer whale that dominated the ocean. They didn’t know each other and Qiao Dai really didn’t understand why he would help her, no matter how much she thought about it.
She hoped he wasn’t hungry!
Cheng Su glanced at the terrified Qiao Dai and his eyes moved slightly. At the same time, the light turned green and he took a deep sigh of relief before starting the car again and continuing to drive along the road.

After a few minutes, the man’s voice sounded again.
“Cheng Su.”
He paused for a second and added somewhat coldly: “Who said I am helping you?”
Qiao Dai blinked, not quite understanding what he meant, but the man didn’t seem to want to bother explaining. He pulled open the glove box and took out the door handle he had put inside last night, before throwing it to Qiao Dai.
The doorknob fell in front of her in a muffled noise. When Qiao Dai’s gaze fell on it, her expression changed slightly, as if she was remembering something, and hid in embarrassment in the suitcase.
She did remember! Last night, she had been drunk and had run into several closed doors. She had found the swimming pool but it had been locked and after she had fiddled with the doorknob a few times, the door had finally opened but couldn’t be closed anymore. It looked like she hadn’t controlled her strength and had broken it directly…
Was she going to be arrested?
Because they were both marine animals, Qiao Dai tried to negotiate. From her hiding place in the suitcase, she asked in a low voice: “I will pay you the money. Can you not send me to the police station?”

It was quiet outside the luggage and Qiao Dai waited patiently for the man’s answer when she felt she was suddenly being picked up and put back on the ground, before starting to move.
Qiao Dai’s heart was full of ups and downs and as she was about to speak again, Cheng Su’s voice sounded above her head: “Come out.”
The closed zipper was slowly opened and the bright light blinded her for a second. She instinctively covered her eyes with her furry paws until she adjusted, and tentatively opened one.
Then her eyes widened.
Where was this? Why was there such a big pool?!
Qiao Dai completely forgot her panic and anxiety in an instance. At this moment, her mind was full of the clear water in front of her, and the undulating waves that sent a salty scent each move, making her nose feel a little itchy.
This was the fragrance of the ocean.

Qiao Dai took a deep breath and jumped into the water in a splash. She rolled in joy for a few minutes and lay happily on the surface. But before she could really enjoy it, she noticed Cheng Su standing on the shore expressionless as soon as she raised her head.
Qiao Dai was a bit conflicted but quickly turned over and swam back to the edge honestly. Cheng Su squatted down and looked at her, who was already all wet in transparent water and instinctively recalled her promotional poster for the Deep Blue Star Sea.
The official website of <Pick Eleven> had only uploaded one portrait but there were many more and one of them was of Qiao Dai as a mermaid lying on the shore as if she had just jumped out of the water. In the photo, fine drops of water fell from the top of her hair and her head was slightly tilted towards the camera. A thin layer of mist covered her skin and she looked dazzling under the sunlight.
The image of the girl in his mind overlapped with the chubby little sea otter in front of him and Cheng Su suddenly became speechless. Qiao Dai looked at his expression with some suspicion, wondering why the man wouldn’t talk.

After a while, Cheng Su moved his gaze and said: “I have asked someone to contact your agent. You will stay here for a few days.”
He paused as if waiting for her to say anything. Qiao Dai’s face had an uneasy expression but as she stayed silent, Cheng Su couldn’t help but ask: “Don’t you have any questions?”
The eyes of the little sea otter were dull and he felt like an old father worrying about his stupid daughter for a moment. This silly sea otter agreed with anything, wasn’t she afraid of encountering bad people?
Only then Qiao Dai reacted, “Why can’t I change back? Will I stay like this forever?”
It had been too sudden and she hadn’t really thought about this issue carefully. Until now, she hadn’t had time to ask Cheng Su and had tried to figure out why she couldn’t change back to a human on her own.
Qiao Dai looked at the man on the edge with eyes full of expectation. Cheng Su’s profile was a little casual and he glanced at her, before answering in a not surprised and very calm voice: “Have you been feeling tired recently?”
Qiao Dai nodded.
“For us, the sea is the only place we can truly rest. We are usually okay but if we get too tired, it will reduce our ability to control the change and this may happen.”
Moreover, Qiao Dai had just met him last night. Her animal instinct might have made her unable to temporarily control her form. But as he thought about it, a ray of light flashed across his dark eyes and he swallowed the words back.
“But—” Cheng Su looked at Qiao Dai who had started lying on the water at some point, “How old are you this year?”
Why was he asking?
Qiao Dai came back in a splash of water but before she could answer, Cheng Su continued: “This only happened to me when I was a child. I don’t believe adults would encounter this situation anymore.”
He looked at Qiao Dai and suddenly chuckled: “You’re not a sea otter pup, are you?”
Qiao Dai’s fur exploded and she expressed her strong denial patting on the water with her paws. She raised her little head and defiantly shouted: “Who is the pup! I’m an adult! An adult!”
“Oh.” Cheng Su said as if to tease her. He then looked at her and slowly stood up: “You may indeed simply be a weak little sea otter.”
Although she could break a doorknob with her bare hands, if she was unable to control her change even after adulthood, weakness may be the reason.

Cheng Su was only joking but Qiao Dai rubbed her head in embarrassment and apologized: “I am sorry, I am giving you trouble.”
Her soft voice fell in Cheng Su’s ears as if someone had secretly stroked his palm, making his heart a little inexplicably agitated.
“I will give you my treasure, don’t be angry, okay.”
Qiao Dai stretched out her little paw from the water in a very mysterious manner. With her wet paw, she put something in Cheng Su’s hand and the soft and warm touch made him hold his breath. He lowered his head and looked—
At the small and plain stone lying in his palm, that still carried Qiao Dai’s heat. As he noticed her reluctant gaze, Cheng Su didn’t know what to say for a while. He looked at the stone again but it really looked ordinary.
Cheng Su: …?
