The next day, when Gu Siyi woke up, she found that the bedroom was empty, so she climbed out of the bed to realize that it was seven o’clock! She had clearly set an alarm for 6:30 last night and the phone was still on the table. Was she really that tired?

She quickly shot out of bed and into the bathroom to take one of the quickest showers of her life, she got out, put her hair into a ponytail, and flew outside towards the teaching building.

She was panting by the time she had gotten into the room that read Class 16. The sound of the teacher repeatedly calling her name could be heard from outside the class, so she faintly got in and shouted out. “Report!”

The headteacher Li Shaohong, a woman in her forties, had hale hair meticulously curled, she wore rimless glasses, and a business suit, showing the seriousness and simplicity of being a teacher.

She turned her head to look at the door and asked. “What’s your name?”

Gu Siyi’s voice was lowered a few degrees. “Gu Siyi.”

The headteacher looked at the roster, found her name, and quickly scanned her senior high school entrance examination scores and school, frowning slightly. It was necessary to give education to these kinds of students with poor grades and bad attitudes.

Class teacher: “Go and stand at the back of the classroom.”

Gu Siyi bowed her head and slowly walked to the end of the classroom trying not to catch the glare of every student she passed by.

By the time she got there, the headteacher decided to give them all a small lesson in manners. “No matter which school you were in before or what style of work you were in, you must abide by the school rules and regulations. Here when you enter Longxing Middle School, if you arrive late and leave early, you will be punished immediately.”

The students in the class whispered and looked back at the unlucky late female classmate from time to time.

Longxing Middle School implements elite education in small classes with 36 students in each class. The classrooms are large with modern facilities readily available. Tables and chairs are arranged side by side in three groups, making a total of six rows. Xia Zhijun and his friends were sitting in the last row.

Xia Zhijun watched Gu Siyi walk in with her head lowered, holding the strap of her bag with both hands, her ears red, her head buried like an ostrich. Compared with the momentum of fighting with people on the rooftop last night, it was weak. For some reason, Xia Zhijun wanted to laugh a little.

Lu Jiaye sighed quietly. “This class is too overwhelming. It made my sister so embarrassed on the first day of school. Why not be a few minutes late? She came to school from another place and stayed at school for the first time. Maybe she didn’t sleep well at night. I only overslept in the morning. Seeing my sister’s pitiful appearance makes me feel so distressed.”

Su Han echoed her words on the other side of the corridor. “Poor sister, it is typical to get caught.”

The headteacher was still speaking on the podium, and Xia Zhijun took out a small palm-sized robot from his bag and placed it on the ground. The robot silently walked to Gu Siyi’s feet and climbed onto her legs.

Gu Siyi glanced at it, not knowing what the frightening thing was. She nearly shrieked out in horror but remembered where she was at the last second and refrained herself. Xia Zhijun felt unstable at the unknown thing climbing her legs and her legs started giving out. Just then Xia Zhijun raised his long legs, hooked up a stool, and pushed Gu Siyi up to sit down.

Gu Siyi was at a loss of what had just occurred and looked at him anxiously. The teacher asked her to stand, what was he doing?

Xia Zhijun put one hand on Gu Siyi’s shoulder and said to the headteacher on the podium. “Mrs. Li, Gu Siyi has low blood sugar and almost fell due to dizziness. It is not suitable for her to stand for a long time.”

The headteacher was stunned for a few seconds then finally said, “Fine, find a place to sit down.”

All the teachers in the school knew Xia Zhijun, and he had been ranked first in the city three years in a row in junior high. The key was that the scores of each subject were very balanced, the science subjects were excellent and the liberal arts were average. Not to mention his family background, rooted in Zheng Miaohong’s official second generation and third generation.

Teachers always preferred students with such backgrounds and strengths; it was just the natural way of life. Gu Siyi got the teacher’s pardon, and then looked up at the classroom.

There were still two empty places in the last row, so she anxiously walked over and sat down. She let out a sigh of relief when she sat down, she was finally free from the distressing situation.

The class teacher expanded on the topic, talking endlessly about how to spend the three years in high school. Gu Siyi turned her head to look at Xia Zhijun on the other side. They were both separated by a corridor.

Xia Zhijun who was looking at his book felt the feeling of someone watching so he quickly turned his head to meet her eyes.

Gu Siyi blinked and mouthed: ‘Thank you.’

The girl’s eyes were watery, hidden under her long eyelashes, her eyes were full of gratitude.

Her two small dimples were ever-present from her wide smile. Xia Zhijun curled his lips at the scene.

After the class teacher finished speaking, she let the classmates introduce themselves one by one from front to back.

Gu Siyi saw Xu Lin and Lan Xiaoqiu at the same table with another girl. Most of her classmates came from junior high school, and a few came from other schools. There were more than 20 boys and a dozen girls.

After the self-introduction session, the headteacher called a few students in the front row to go with her to get uniforms and teaching material. The atmosphere in the classroom suddenly became more relaxed, and people from the front to back were left to communicate with each other.

Lu Jiaye hurriedly said to Gu Siyi, “Sister, don’t be upset, brother Lu will buy you sweets later.”

“I’m not sad.” Gu Siyi sighed. “Isn’t it just embarrassing to receive such humiliation? I wanted to find a place to bury myself.”

“Also fun, it seems that my sister has already gotten over it. Very good.”

“Don’t call me sister, I’m in the class now, call me by name.” Gu Siyi emphasized.

“I think saying my younger sister sounds better. Who ruled that I can’t call you younger sister in the class?” Lu Jiaye deliberately told her, “Why shouldn’t I call you sister? Yeah, Sister Yi is fine.”

“Don’t!” Gu Siyi hurriedly stopped, sounding like a gangster sister, unable to bear it.

“Sister, tell me your phone number.” Lu Jiaye said, holding up his phone.

The classroom was noisy. Gu Siyi didn’t want to speak loudly, so she took out a piece of paper and pen, wrote the number “1XXXXXXXXX”, and handed it to Lu Jiaye.

With the paper spread on the table, Lu Jiaye was busy entering the number to save in his address book.

Xia Zhijun glanced, then retracted his gaze. Gu Siyi remembered the hot sauce her mother had asked her to bring, and said to Xia Zhijun, “I have something for you. I will bring it to you when I go to bed later.”

Xia Zhijun asked, “What?”

“You’ll know then.” Gu Siyi blinked and smiled.

She was reminded about how wise her mother was, as she asked her to bring a gift for Xia Zhijun as a reward for watching over her. The children of Jianghu heard of the good news. From now on, this study god will be her friend.

After the military training uniforms and textbooks were distributed, it was forty minutes for breakfast. After forty minutes, they gathered in the playground wearing military uniforms.

When Gu Siyi returned to the bedroom, Xu Lin and Lan Xiaoqiu were both there.

She couldn’t help asking, “Why didn’t you call me when you left in the morning?”

Lan Xiaoqiu didn’t say a word, changed clothes quickly, and left the bedroom after changing. Xu Lin, who hadn’t spoken, waited for her to leave and closed the bedroom door. Then she looked at Gu Siyi and said, “Siyi, I’m sorry.”

Her expression was torn and complicated, and she slowly said, “Xu Na’s friend found our room last night… and asked us to ignore you, or we’d be in trouble with those seniors.”

“You came from another school. You don’t know how powerful Xu Na is … I don’t have any background in my family … so I don’t want to cause trouble.” Xu Lin persuaded. “Or go and apologize to Xu Na and ask her to forgive you, otherwise in the future, she will always make some ways to target you.”

Gu Siyi chuckled lightly. “Thank you for your concern. However, my mother or school never taught me to apologize to the scum for this kind of thing.” Her normally obedient eyes had a flicker of rebellion in them, it was clear that she wasn’t going to give up that easily.
