607 Retching
The next morning, Bai Qi woke up in the morning to find his little fairy nestled in his arms. A faint smile curled on his lips as he watched her sleeping visage.
Bai Qi stayed to watch his wife’s face for a while before he finally leaned over to kiss her on the lips.
Zhang Li Xue frowned at his kiss. Then, she turned around and continued to sleep.
Seeing this made Bai Qi laugh. He hugged his wife for a while before deciding to wake up. Although he might be on his day off, Zhang Li Xue still needed to head to work in a while.
Bai Qi planned to prepare breakfast for his wife and perhaps packed some snacks for her to eat when she was hungry. Then, he planned to visit her at the office and accompany her for lunch.
After washing his face, Bai Qi went into the kitchen and started to look into the refrigerator. There were not many ingredients, but Bai Qi thought that it should be enough for him to prepare some porridge for his wife.
It did not take him too long to prepare some breakfast. Just as Bai Qi was setting up the table, he finally heard some movement from their bedroom.
A gentle smile appeared on his lips.
Usually, Zhang Li Xue would hurriedly look for him in the kitchen when she noticed that he was not in bed. Therefore, Bai Qi continued to arrange the food on the table as he waited for his wife to come out.

However, after waiting for a while, the person he was waiting for did not appear by his side.
Instead, his ears picked up the sound of her footstep in the bedroom. It sounded as if he was running over to the bathroom. His brow furrowed when he heard the sound of her retching.
Bai Qi dropped whatever he was doing and went to look for his wife.
He found her in the bathroom. Zhang Li Xue stood in front of the toilet bowl as she continued to throw up.
Seeing this, Bai Qi began to panic. He went over to her side and gathered her long hair in his hand. Then, with his free hand, Bai Qi stroked his wife’s back, hoping that it would soothe her.
A look of distress appeared on his face as he watched her continue vomiting.
After a few minutes, Zhang Li Xue finally stopped retching.
Bai Qi’s heart was hurting when he saw his wife’s paled face. He grabbed a clean towel and started to wipe her face. Then, he led her to the sink and let her rinse her mouth and wash her face.
He watched his wife while he continued to stroke her long hair. “How are you feeling now?”
Zhang Li Xue flashed a weak smile. “I’m fine.”
Of course, Bai Qi did not believe in her words. His wife’s eyes were a little misty and her face paled. How can she say that she’s fine?
However, seeing that she had not thrown up again Bai Qi was finally at ease.
“Could it be something that you eat yesterday?” Bai Qi asked.
“Perhaps. I did eat too much for dinner and my stomach is uncomfortable.”
Seeing the color returning to her face, Bai Qi then carried his wife into the bedroom. He took out the blood pressure machine that he kept in the house to check on his wife.
A breath of relief escaped him upon seeing that everything was normal.
“Let’s go and have breakfast first,” Bai Qi said. “If you started to feel unwell again, we will go to the hospital.” At this time Bai Qi was glad that he was on his day off. He thought that at least, he could look after his wife and care for her.
Zhang Li Xue wanted to argue and tell her husband that she was fine. But when she saw the worried look on Bai Qi’s face, Zhang Li Xue decided to play along. “Alright.”
Under Bai Qi’s eyes, Zhang Li Xue went into the dining area with him and started to eat.
She took a few sips of her warm water and thought that her stomach finally felt a little comfortable.
The food that Bai Qi made tasted quite good. Her stomach was empty after throwing up. Because of this Zhang Li Xue could not help but eat another bowl of porridge.
Looking at her appetite made Bai Qi worry again.
It was good if his wife had a good appetite. However, he did not want her to feel unwell again from overeating.
In the end, Zhang Li Xue could only put down her cutleries silently.
“Why don’t you take a day off today?” Bai Qi suggested. “You should rest well. If Dad sees you like this, he would worry too.”
Zhang Li Xue wanted to tell her husband about the documents piling on her desk. However, when she thought of her father, Zhang Li Xue began to change her mind.
She did not want to make her father worry about her.
If her father saw her pale face, he would definitely start to worry. Zhang Li Xue could almost imagine her father summoning her uncles because he was too worried.
After finishing her meal, Bai Qi went into the kitchen and poured his wife a cup of milk.
Zhang Li Xue lifted the cup of warm milk to drink. However, the moment the scent of milk entered her nose, that nauseating feeling from earlier returned.
Zhang Li Xue put down the cup in a hurry before she started to run into the bathroom again.
Bai Qi went to follow his wife and stayed by her side as she continued to throw up. His heart was aching upon seeing that the food in her stomach was forced to come out.
He sat by her side and waited for her to stop throwing up. Then, he took the towel to wipe her face again. “Li Xue.” His brow furrowed as he looked at her with worry. “Why don’t we go to the hospital? If this is food poisoning, then it’s better to get proper treatment.”
“Why don’t we stay at home and rest? Perhaps it will stop after a while.” Zhang Li Xue thought that it should not be a big deal for her to throw up after eating a little too much. Moreover, wouldn’t it be embarrassing for her to appear at the hospital because of that reason?
“You have to go and do a check-up.” Bai Qi was strict on this matter. “Otherwise, I will talk to your Dad. We’ll see how he convinces you to go and have a proper check-up.”
Zhang Li Xue smiled upon hearing that Bai Qi was threatening her using her father’s name. But this tactic works well. In the end, Zhang Li Xue had to go to the hospital for a check-up.
