CHAPTER 218
And just when their lips came very close to each other, he closed his eyes and pulled away, leaving her empty and longing for more.
"I'm sorry," he apologized, turning around and away from her. "I should not have done that. I promised to wait and I will." Not waiting for her response, he stood up.
"You are beautiful, Jade and irresistible as well but a promise is a promise and what kind of a person would I be if I cannot honour that?"
"Even if it kills you?" She suddenly asked, cutting him short.
"I…" He did not know how to start or where to even begin. "I… it hurts, I would not deny it. The mate bond is kicking and knocking at the door of my heart but…"
"It is okay. I understand." She stood up, walking towards him and stopped when they were so close to each other.
They were close to the point that, if she wanted to hug him, she could do as easily as anything. The tension was there.
'Curse this mate bond!' Jade yelled within.
She did not want to tell him that she loved him but who was she deceiving. Her whole body reacted to him and was ready to give way to him because of it.
Even standing behind him, she wished she could just hug him close. Just that thought entering her mind, her mind had already gone bunkers, thinking so much about what had happened between them.
"You feel the attraction too, right?" She asked suddenly, out of the blue.
Xander could not believe his ears. How could she ask that? Couldn't she see that he was trying so hard here? Swiftly he turned around to look at her. "Are you kidding me?"
"I know."
"No, you do not know, Jade. I am literarily killing myself here. See." He pointed down at his crotch, a clever and foolish thing to have done because as he did, she looked.
Just seeing how rock hard he was and how his little dragon was straining against his pants Jade felt so bad that she wanted to help him so much.
From a single thought of help, she licked her lips, imagining how it would feel in her hands and mouth.
"Jade, snap out of it," Xander's voice suddenly echoed in her mind, pulling her back to reality.
She blinked thrice, her eyes on his face but his looking elsewhere.
'Where?' she thought and then followed the line of his gaze only for her eyes before to look down and see her own hands, close to his crotch.
"Yikes!" quickly she pulled them back and looked back at him apologetically. "I am sorry," she muttered under her breath but he heard her and nodded at her.
"He wants you to hold him, Jade. He wants you to want him and he wants you to. Not just to be held by you but to devour you from your inside out. He wants to unite with you in more ways than you can possibly think of but if I cannot put him under subjection then I am not worthy to echo the words, I LOVE YOU, to you again."
"I am sorry. I do not know what has come over me."
"It is totally understandable and that is why I am here and must control myself. Two of us cannot be hot at the same time. I know you love me. I see it in your eyes, Jade. You cannot deny it and you cannot deny me and so I must deny myself what I truly want just for the two of us. One must be stronger."
"Xander…" she called out his name softly, her eyes dropping close as she bit down on her lower lip, willing herself to be strong too.
"How I have missed hearing you call my name with such a soft and smooth melodious tone. Baby…" he cupped her face in his hands lovingly. "I love you and I would never get tired to ring these words into your eardrums."
"I need time, Xander. Things are happening too fast for me."
"I know, you do. That is why I am not in a hurry. I am here for you."
"Are you?"
"Yes and know that we would fight this fight together." He pecked her forehead before hugging her tight to his body and inhaling deeply.
"I am my own doom as you are mine as well, Jade. I need to go before I lose it with you in my arms." He broke from her, smiling shyly at her.
His lower dragon had just twitched in anticipation and poke the young girl on her stomach.
"It is okay. I would be heading back as well. Please take me to my car if you do not mind. I would love to fly once more."
"As you wish, my lady."
Without a second to wait, he bent down a bit and scooped her in his arms, taking her away till he got to her car and set her foot down on the ground.
"There you go."
"Thank you so much."
"For what?"
"For being here with me and giving me this gift of flying with me,' she explained walking towards her car and turning to look at him just after opening her car door.
"Ah, it is nothing. You just be good, okay." She nodded at him. They were still close by and the feeling was still there. "I must go, Jade. We would see again, I know so."
"Thanks."
Without waiting another minute, he bent his knees down a bit before jumping up and shooting into the sky. Jade watched in silence as he dove far into the sky and she could not see him again. That was when she got into her own car and left.
Unknown to her, he never left, he waited and watched over her from where he was in the sky until he was sure she had left the lonely road.
