I was stunned as I watched the spell card showcase the image of a hero quickly changing his mask while dashing forwards. “Isn’t that…?” I heard Alexis whisper under her breath before glancing at me. Our eyes met, showcasing each of our amazements at the scene. “Isn’t that the card you thought Jayden should use?” Blair spoke up as she leaned over to look at me too. I nodded slowly while looking back at the field. “Yea… I didn’t think he would get one that fast though.” I said in a trance, my hand over my mouth as I wondered what Masked Hero Jayden would use for his first time.
Both Alexis and Blair looked at their scowling friend. They then looked at each other, and chuckled under their breaths. They both knew that Rakki didn’t like showcasing his happier emotions. However they both knew that when he did care for someone he would be quiet, not wanting to spoil the mood with his somewhat pessimistic attitude. Or when he had to talk, he sometimes said nice things mixed with his harsh tones, keeping people at a distance. They had both seen it, and recognized Rakki mumbling under his breath. Barely making out “About time. Took you to 200 life points before you decided to play huh?” amongst the loud cheering in the crowd. He was doing both things without even realizing it, and both girls enjoyed that part of Rakki. That part of his Tsundere nature.
I mumbled under my breath, at the edge of my seat. I had planned for Jayden to win this match so I could steer the conversation my way against Chazz’s brothers, and was a little perturbed by how much Jayden flew by the seat of his pants without a care in the world. “Ugh, take things a bit more seriously.” I murmured while watching Jayden explain his new spell card.
“Now, I’ll have my Elemental Hero Avian, switch his mask to showcase his other Hero Persona!!” “What!?” Chazz yelled back in shock, he had never heard of that card, and was stunned from what Jayden was doing. The spell card produced a mask, and it flew over to Avian. Avian placed the mask on his face, causing his body to erupt into a whirlwind. His wings, his claws, and even his feathers drew themselves back in, showcasing another Hero under his mask. “So! Everyone give a warm welcome to Masked Hero Blast!!”

When the winds died down, a new Hero was left in Avian’s wake. A green costumed ranger that had a red scarf that constantly fluttered in the wind. Chazz chuckled a bit while continuing his attack. “As strange as that summoning is Jayden, your monster still has less attack points than my Armed Dragon Lv 7!” Jayden smiled and nodded. “That’s true, but Blast has a special ability!” He chuckled a bit before continuing on . “You see Chazz, when he’s summoned, he causes so much wind that one of your monster’s loses half of his attack points!” Everyone, including me, gasped in astonishment as Chazz’s Armed Dragon Lv 7’s attack points sharply dropped.

“And since your monster has less attack than mine, my Masked Hero Blast will destroy your Dragon!” Jayden cheered as Blast dodged the weakened Dragon’s arm, and ran up on top of it, to punch the dragon flat on the ground, destroying Chazz’s prize monster. “That’s impossible! What kind of card can do that during my turn!?” I had to acknowledge that it was a very strong ability to change your monster to a much stronger one during an attack, and felt the pain of having nothing go your way during a Duel.

That’s how all matches ended for me. Even if by some miracle, I would still lose because someone pulled something like that from their ass. ‘You have my condolences Chazz…’ I thought as Chazz continued his turn, his confidence reeling. He looked at his cards left in his hand, and his Kamikiri left on the field. I watched his eyes twitch in aggravation, I assumed not helped by Ojama Yellow. Then he looked up to his brothers. As he stared I heard his brothers badmouthing him, I could hear them sneering, clearly showcasing their disapproving faces to Chazz below.
However Chazz then moved his gaze up to me. I could see his eyes shake a bit, and I had to give him at least a hand. Lord knows that I was in close situations like that in my past, when nobody was there to help ease my loathing for my luck. I raised my finger in the air with a sigh, I didn’t really like standing out without something to gain, but I had a feeling of kindredness with Chazz at the moment. “Just this once, so you better remember it.” I grumbled under my breath grabbing both Alexis’ and Blair’s attention.
“Chazz it up!!” I yelled gathering everyone’s attention, especially Chazz’s brothers right in front of me. I then slowly moved my hand down, and pointed at Ojama Yellow while still staring at Chazz. I gave a slow nod, my scowl deepening from the glances my way. Only Alexis, Blair, Jayden, and Chazz knew what I was really pointing at. Chazz glanced at the hovering Yellow monster excitedly talking his ear off, however it was sooned drowned out by North Academy. “Chazz it up!!” “Chazz it up!!” They all cheered for Chazz to pull out a win.

They didn’t have that belief. He saw their looks of inevitability. He then glanced up, just behind them at Rakki, Jayden’s friend at Slifer. They had never been close. In fact the last time Rakki annoyingly laughed at his excuse, but for some reason he felt those eyes were the eyes of someone much like himself. Someone that has been kicked, and dragged through the mud from so called ‘friends’. Those were eyes that wanted Chazz’s victory against his friend. Chazz was shocked at what he saw in those eyes, and confused, until he figured out what it actually was. Rakki wanted Jayden, and Chazz to win. He didn’t fully understand why, but he could tell that Rakki at this point, held both Jayden and Chazz in the same regard.

Plenty of Duel Academy students saw it was me cheering for Chazz, the opposition in their eyes, and clearly thought of me as some kind of traitor. I rolled my eyes as I felt the spirit girl’s happiness. I frowned from their feelings, and ignored both Blair’s and Alexis’ gazes as well. I could tell from the corner of my eyes that they were smirking, and I refused to deal with them misreading something again. “Shut up, and just watch.” I said before either of them could say something. They both giggled, Blair stealthily wrapped her arm in between mine, while Alexis gave me a light punch on my shoulder.

I activate the spell card, O Oversoul!! Allowing me to special summon a normal Hero Monster from my grave! So Burstinatrix? Why don’t you turn up the heat!?” And with that, Jayden had three monsters on his field again.

Hardly anyone even noticed what it was, since it was destroyed so fast, but I saw, and wondered what Chazz’s plan was. “Sparkman, Take care of Kamikiri!!” Sparkman’s hands crackled with electricity, and then directed his hand towards Kamikiri, sending over a bolt of lightning, destroying Kamikiri, and leaving Chazz’s field open. “Take it away Blast! Attack Chazz directly!!” Blast conjured wind around his legs, and quick as the wind, he kicked Chazz directly, sending him reeling.
