Jayden and Syrus were long gone to the roof. Jayden decided to run all the way there in his excitement to see the rooftops while Syrus didn’t want to let Jayden get lost, running along for the ride. The halls were still fairly empty, most students hanging around their dorms since there was no class today. However the few students that did cross Blair, Alexis’, and my path didn’t stop Blair from clinging to my jacket. Blair clung onto my sleeve, her content smile showing as she walked along with me. Alexis walked on the other side of me, I noticed her gaze wandering towards Blair before punching my shoulder.
“Ow…” I said, my voice monotone as I looked at her. Her face reddened up as she frowned at me. “Is Blair a girl?” Alexis asked after the hallway was clear. She still spoke quietly, making sure that nobody else could hear her. Besides the squeaking Blair, grabbing my jacket tighter in fear. Alexis pointed at Blair, her scowl deepening. “See!? That! That right there! I know you’re not gay, so is Blair a girl!? Is she another spirit!?” “She’s not a spirit!” I reflexibly yelled back, almost scoffing at the idea, only freezing as soon as my mind caught up to my mouth. “Damn…”
Alexis punched my head downward, whisper yelling at me. “So she is a girl! You’ve been living with a girl! I was hoping a roommate- Agh!” She let out an anger filled yell while pushing me aside, getting a closer look at Blair. Blair was silent while staring back at Alexis. I decided to stay quiet, not wanting to bury myself further in Alexis’ wrath. “What did this thing do to you?” Alexis asked while pointing at me, not even giving me a human pronoun. I sighed inwardly while Blair blushed and averted her expression. ‘You’re making it worse!!’ Alexis whipped her head back to look at me, the fire in her eyes clearly evident.
I held my hands up in surrender. “I didn’t do anything.” I was technically being honest. Blair snuck into my bed, not the other way around. However Alexis doubted me to say the least. She grabbed my ear, yanking it down to move my head closer to her and Blair’s height. I winced in pain, but accepted my fate. Blair moved her gaze between Alexis and I, panicking about what to do. “Ok! I sneak into his bed to sleep next to him!” Blair yelled to Alexis while trying to release her grasp on my ear.
Alexis kept her grip firm, making sure to not lose me while her attention was on Blair. “Is that all?” Alexis asked, her voice a little calmer for some reason. Blair nodded her steaming head, her eyes avoiding Alexis’ judgmental gaze. Alexis then snapped her head to me, our faces only inches from each other while she still had a hold of my ear. She instinctively moved away from me, her face matching Blair’s. “You didn’t touch her did you?” She asked with a blushing frown adorning her face.
I sighed a little exasperatedly. “No, I haven't done anything to her… Or the other girls for that matter.” I frowned while continuing on. “Trying to keep things PG in front of Blair, she’s still a little young.” I said sarcastically. Alexis frowned with a sigh, massaging her temples with her eyes closed, trying to process what I was saying. However some of that sighing almost seemed to be from her relief. She silently pondered while Blair and I just stared at her, waiting for her conclusion. She let out another sigh, opening her eyes to scowl at me. She shook her head slowly as her scowl turned into a defeated smile. “You are just… What am I gonna do about you?”
I shrugged my shoulders with a scoff, not really knowing what to say to that. Alexis punched my shoulder, letting out a huff before dragging me somewhere. Blair was following behind me, her face full of anxiety about what Alexis was doing. “Umm… What’s happening here?” I asked, not fighting against Alexis’ pull. “I’m going to hear all about this.” She said while pulling me outside one of the less used exits of the school. After a bit more walking, we stopped at the entrance to the forest. ‘There goes the rooftop nap…’
Alexis paused, looking around for anybody else around. After she nodded, she let me go before sitting down on a bench in front of us. She crossed her legs along with her arms. “Tell me from the beginning, or I take this to the principal.” I clicked my tongue, Alexis wasn’t stupid, much the opposite. She knew that she had both of us over a barrel. I glanced over at Blair, doing her best to hold back her tears while clutching to my jacket. I sighed, and ruffled her hat before taking a seat on another bench opposite from Alexis, Blair right beside me.
I thought back, wondering exactly where to start. “I got here for something stupid!” To my surprise Blair started talking first, removing her hat to showcase her long black hair. “But when I did get here…” Blair glanced at me, her blushing smile driving my gaze away from her. I couldn’t look at that gaze of endearing innocence directly. I scowled when Blair wrapped her arm around mine, giggling at my slightly reddening face. “I wanted to stay.” I sighed from the clear meaning behind those words.
Alexis sighed as she stared at Blair. She took a closer look at her, and saw all of Blair’s feminine charms. She was cute, almost adorable. A trait that made Rakki clearly embarrassed to look at her. Blair was almost like a small, lovable animal. Alexis was glad that Rakki seemed to be true to his word. She saw Rakki trying to keep Blair at some distance, while still showcasing she was special, and thinking back. Alexis could remember how Rakki cared for Blair in his own way. It was clear to Alexis in hindsight that Rakki did care for Blair. The way he ruffled her hat to comfort her while also keeping her from seeing his embarrassed expression for showcasing his warmer side.
Alexis remembered back to when Rakki also showcased his caring side to her as well. She looked at Rakki’s frown, and how his gaze lingered away from both her and Blair, unable to look both of them in the eye. ‘That’s just how he is… Caring but too embarrassed to show it… Kinda like…’ Alexis thought with a warmer smile as she saw someone she cared for more than herself in this frowning gambler. Sure he was much different in some aspects. He was darker, content to ruin others that he felt wronged his friends, but that only showcased his caring side he kept hidden under his harsh words. That was the part that she saw in him the brightest. He had just as much warmth as her brother, even if he liked to keep it hidden. Just as Alexis opened her mouth, feeling much better about Blair and Rakki being roommates, she saw Rakki snap his head off into the woods.
I stared off into the open woods. A feeling of something approaching took over my thoughts. I stared silently at the direction of where it was coming from. “Something’s coming.” I said to both the girls as I kept my gaze at the tree line. Soon enough the sound of branches and leaves fluttering filled the air as it came ever closer. Blair and Alexis both grabbed me while the noises grew louder. “So it’s her…” I heard Zorc say with a slightly somber tone. I was confused about what he was talking about until someone burst from the trees, her eyes glaring at me with distrust.
Astounded, my mouth went slightly agape. I just gawked at her along with Alexis and Blair. “Is that… Who I think it is?” Alexis asked, her voice filled with disbelief. I gulped as I nodded in silence, confused why she was here. She pointed her wand at us, glowing in its power. “You have already returned Zorc! Possessing this young boy to carry out your next schemes!?” She asked while ready to attack us at any moment.
Both Alexis and Blair looked at me with worry and astonishment, waiting for me to respond. I held a finger up, trying to think of something to say with my mouth open. However the amount of new information dumped on me, had me stunned. I sighed while lowering my finger to my mouth as I thought in silence. ‘That's… Dark Magician Girl… From the original show… I know Zorc from the original Yugioh, but I thought he was destroyed completely. I thought that this Zorc was just a card that was a spirit in his likeness. Not the fucking Original!! I thought my luck was finally fucking changing!! Give me a fucking BREAK!!’
