Using the most tremendous force I have applied until now, I pulled my sword right from between his legs as I finally felt my blade slashing through his muscles.

Using every ounce of my energy, I forced my arm to slash whatever came inside of the creature before I finally reached the point where I desired most to cross my blade.

Like the blade been stuck by another sword, my reach didn't cross the center of the creature's chest, as I felt a resistance nearly impossible to breach.
"Not so fast, boy~."
Looking stiffly toward the point where my blade was stuck, I felt the blood draining out of my shell.
The thing which abruptly halted my blade was a finger. The vampire's mere finger!!
The energy I had collected from my ring soon evaporated as this was the last thing I was able to muster in my capability.

Dropping to the ground, I let go of my sword since I knew it would be futile to fight further than this point.
I was done for.
"I take this attack as your rejection. Well~Its a shame I have to kill such a potential boy at such a young age. But...nevermind"
The monster was plainly amused by my pitiful condition as he threw my sword at an unknown corner like trash before I heard the movement of muscles, which probably would be the creature's self-healing ability.
It was funny how even my final blow was shooed off such casually, when I was here on the verge of vanishing from existence.
For my current situation, I don't really blame anyone but myself. The powerlessness which made me cornered to think like this, I blame for such impotence.
Looking at my partner, who would be dying just some moments after me, I felt how hopelessly I had led them until now that one unexpected situation pushed us off the edge.
Feeling the ominous energy gathering near my crown of the head, I knew the creature was planning to blast my head off.
The fear of death reverberated in my senses, but I was too paralyzed to even close my eyes as with my gaze filled with my precious memories, I wished for the last time.

My sense of reasoning collapsed when I thought of the person who could make such a high-ranking vampire almost piss his pant.
Moving my head stiffly while feeling numb sensation across my every muscle, I looked over my shoulder before my eyes also went wide, just like the vampire.
Suddenly, the reason for the creature's fear seemed justifiable as I identified the entity that just has entered the scene.
