"So you say that the Black Bounty came and saved you from that Nobel Vampire. And not only that, he even participated in your evacuation."

I didn't respond to the question as I knew just by looking at my superior's reaction that he didn't believe a single shit I reported.

Not only the person who was in charge of my team and me, but every other council member had the same kind of sneer or similar comments toward the facts I led in front.

But unlike those who were snorting and chatting about me from the sideline, my immediate superior voiced his thoughts without holding back.

"Do you think I am an idiot?! Black Bounty doesn't let anyone get out of his clutches once you get between his mission. And you are saying that the serial murderer suddenly became a Saint and saved your arses?"

I clenched my fist while trying to hold my anger, as I heard the shout of the person whom I couldn't punch right in the face even if I wanted to.

"Listen, Ryuuta. I don't know how you guys escaped from that demon's den but don't put on such false reports. It's not like we don't trust you, but the name you just mentioned exceeds your credibility. There are already mess going with the insiders; if you start spreading another rumor-"

Much relief to my patience, the man halted his blabbering just before I would have gone berserk. The reason for the sudden stoppage of his shits wasn't me but the sudden surge of magioles in the air.

The whitish beam of light which erupted in the center of the briefing room made me aware that someone would be appearing.

But after everyone inside the room, including my superior, knelt on the floor with their head bowed in utmost respect, then only I realized who it was.

"It's been long, Ryuuta."

My eyes went wide as even before the light subdued, the heavy voice of a very familiar person echoed in the room before I, too, knelt like others.

"Long live the patriarch."

I kept my head bowed as I greeted the patriarch of the clan I belonged. Not so long after, I felt a big hand over my head, as the previous heavy voice turned a little softer.

"You have grown formal with me in just so less time? Well, I can't blame you for that."

I stiffly lifted my head before my gaze fell upon the man whom I regard as my grandfather. His gaze, just like in the past, was still the same, just for the fact that I was seeing him through an illusion.

"Jii-chan, how have you been?"

The reason I went into casual self was that I noticed that my surrounding was frozen, which probably would have happened because of the barrier Jii-chan, has cast around us.

It was the Space and Time Sorcery, which makes my Jii-chan one of the prominent figures in the supernatural world.

"You can see I am doing well. But what about you? I heard someone duped the intel and sent you to be sacrificed in the hands of a Nobel vampire?"

Even though he said it in a neutral tone, the way his illusion fluctuated, I knew my Training camp would be shifting real soon.

"Well, yeah, it's true. But we somehow managed to escape, with some unexpected help."

Jii-chan visibly frowned upon my remark, and as I expected, he was concerned about the help I was provided out of nowhere.

"Ryuuta...was it really Black Bounty? Are you sure, your eyes weren't betrayed?"

There was a clear doubt in Jii-chan's voice even though he had always trusted me in the past. But his suspicion was justifiable, taking the person in question into account.

"I can vow on my life that the being who saved my team and me was Black Bounty. Even though I hadn't seen him before, I am sure that person was undoubtedly the hunter who is famous for his one-hit kill. Jii-chan, please believe me in this."

Jii-chan didn't speak for a while as he probably studied my expression as I just stood with my eyes unmoving.

It seemed there was another thing left for him to ask as he raised his neutral voice.

"Was there anything that hunter told you or gave you?"

A shiver ran down my spine, but I held myself together. For a second, I thought of telling Jii-chan about the short exchange I had and the thing which the Bounty Hunter gave me. But in the end, I completely did not believe anyone after what happened with the intel.

So resolving myself, I did what felt best in accordance with the situation.

"No, Jii-chan. The hunter just came to slay and didn't even bat an eye on us. If anything he gave me, then it would be a reality check about my current weak self and ignited my dedication to work harder than before."

Throughout my partial lie, I kept my gaze straight as I spoke in a slightly fake determined tone.

Jii-chan looked at me with his hollow eyes quite intently, probably trying to figure out whether my words were trustworthy, but in the end, he accepted my answer, or so I hoped.

"Okay, Ryuuta. If it's like that, I won't take your time anymore. But I recommend, you keep this news to yourself as Black Bounty's name flying in the air might bring consequences for the clan. For now, it's better you take some rest and enjoy your time with your girls, okay?"

....and he didn't believe a single shit.

'Oof...that was tiring..."

I cracked my completely fine neck as I pretended to be worn out like a salary man, as I walked back to my apartment.

Seriously, working in that uniform really feels like I have chunnibyou.

Not to mention that cringe-ass name I regarded myself as when I initially started playing this role just to quench my anger.

Even though Ryuuta helped me divert my mind from the shitty kids around me, my anger lingered for a very long time.

It was the reason why for the first time I took the black shroud and on the name of bounty, started killing people so I doesn't massacre the kids in the school .

Well, I wasn't a psychopath, so I only annihilated those who had some serious crimes over their head.

...most of them had.....

But after entering high school I completely retired from my hunting jobs since I gained some control over my emotions and left the thought of being called Black Bounty.

'..black bounty...I couldn't have named it better huh....'

Controlling my cringe from showing on my face again, I got out of my apartment's lift when suddenly a voice rang from my back.

"You are the black bounty right?!"

...here we go again.
