The wards and the Intensive Care Units of Family Mu’s Hospital were forbidden to intruders. The hospital was known for the privacy and security which it provided to its patients. He was inspired to become a doctor, by his grandfather, who was a doctor too. He cared for this hospital as much as he cared about his own life. He could not let anyone harm the hospital’s goodwill.
Here was Ji Lili though, making a fuss by throwing her weight around, just because she was the mayor’s daughter. This was simply not acceptable to him. It was against his principles.
“Please leave, Ji Lili!” Mu Qing said, in all seriousness. “This is Family Mu’s ward, not a common area, where you can walk in as and when you please. If you do not follow the rules and regulations of this hospital, I will be forced to take extreme measures. Our hospital will never treat anyone from Family Ji ever again.”
Ji Lili looked like a replica of her mother. She had inherited her mother’s beauty and personality. She was petite and extremely pretty. She had a dominating personality, because she had been spoilt by both her parents, who brought her up like a princess. No one dared to order her around or speak harshly with her.
When Mu Qing chided her and asked her to leave, she was irritated beyond measure.
“Well, It’s your loss. This is a stupid hospital anyway! I will never bother coming here again, after the way you have spoken with me today. I shall ask my mother to have this hospital shut down. Let’s see you give me attitude then. You should be taught a lesson, for leaving in the midst of my treatment, to go and treat another patient.”
Though it was true that Mu Qing left Ji Lili’s treatment halfway, after he was told of Shangguan Ning’s arrival, he had ensured that he had left Ji Lili under the care of one his most trusted doctors. Ji Lili was so upset by this that she had stormed out of there and had gone looking for Mu Qing in every ward on the floor, much to the chagrin of the security personnel.
Her own security entourage were already asked to leave the premises, but no one dared to say anything to her. They knew that they would have to bear the wrath of Family Ji. They would have to either leave A city for their own good or Mayor Ji would see to it that they mysteriously disappeared from the face of this earth.
Ji Lili was used to being treated like royalty. She could not believe that Mu Qing had ignored her and chosen to see someone else. She wanted to see who this person was. Who could be more important than her?
“So, you abandoned me, the princess, to check up this little bitch, Shangguan Ning?” screamed Ji Lili as she stormed into the ward. She was about to use some more profanities when she happened to glance at Shangguan Ning’s face. She saw that Ning’s face was full of blisters and had swollen up. She burst into laughter.
“Aha, Shangguan Ning, what happened to your face? Looks like the backside of a monkey, if you ask me. Haha. You look so ugly. You look worse than a pig and I’m being polite here! You will stay unmarried because of the way you look.”
Shangguan Ning’s face still hurt. Coffee stains on her hair and clothes made her feel very uncomfortable. She really wasn’t in a mood to argue with this maniac, right now. What was more, everyone was well aware of how Ji Lili had been spoiled since childhood. She may have been bossy and dominating, but she had a few redeeming qualities. She had kept close company with Shangguan Rouxue, who brainwashed her completely. Every time she ran into Shangguan Ning, she would use speak to her very rudely and side with Shangguan Rouxue and her doings.
Shangguan Ning didn’t want to argue with this kind of woman. Talking with Ji Lili would mean having to stoop down to her level, which Shanguan Ning did not wish to do. Ji Lili was extremely annoyed, having gotten no reaction out of Shangguan Ning!
“Didn’t you hear what I just said to you?! Shanggaun Ning, this is Karma! You are always luring men with your pretty face. You have lured Shangguan Rouxue’s fiancé and also my cousin, who is taken in by your charms. Let’s see how you lure men with your face now. Hahaha.”
Mu Qing had thought that Shangguan Ning would get annoyed on hearing Ji Lili say such outrageous things, but to his surprise, Shangguan Ning was indifferent and remained calm and composed.
Although she painted a sorry picture, with her face and clothes covered with coffee stains and medical ointments, she was still more elegant than Ji Lili, who was wearing branded clothes and expensive make-up. Ji Lili was no match for her personality and charisma.
He seemed to understand why Jing Yichen, who was not one to be impressed easily had fallen in love with Shangguan Ning at first sight and cherished her like a treasure.
Shangguan Ning looked at Ji Lili calmly and said what she never intended to.
“Ms. Ji, do you want to know why your cousin never liked you?”
Ji Lili’s cousin, Ji Bo, was one of the heirs of Family Ji. He was tall, handsome and well mannered. He behaved like a thorough gentleman with everyone except for Ji Lili, with whom, he was totally cold.
Ji Lili, who was used to being the centre of attention, couldn’t accept her cousin’s cold behaviour. Initially, she harassed her cousin repeatedly in order to make him change his mind, but eventually things took a turn for the worse, when Ji Lili fell in love with the very same cousin, who refused to even acknowledge her existence.
This was not a secret anymore and the entire Family Ji knew about this.
Ji Lili was shocked. She grabbed her Hermes handbag and threw it at Shangguan Ning.
Mu Qing cried out –”watch out” but Shangguan Ning was prepared and successfully dodged the bag.
“Because Shangguan Rouxue sent your cousin, pictures of you, in compromising positions, with various men. You think that she is your best friend? You are wrong. She is your biggest enemy. If you don’t trust me, you can ask your cousin why he behaves the way he does, with you. Please stop shouting and creating a scene. It just shows you in bad light.”
Ji Lili argued back, “Nonsense! You are the stupid one! You are saying all this because you are jealous of Xue and I. We are much prettier than you, by the way.”
Shangguan Ning didn’t wish to speak with her anymore.
If Ji Lili had any sense, she would clarify her stance with her cousin. Otherwise, she could continue to live in a fool’s paradise, thanks to her friend Shangguan Rouxue.
Shangguan Ning turned around and walked out of the ward. Mu Qing ignored Ji Lili and chose to walk out with Shangguan Ning.
He had requested the barista, Hu, to leave and he did not think it was right for him to let Shangguan Ning go home alone. Jing Yichen would give him grief, if he ever got to know of this.
He caught up with Shangguan Ning instantly and said, “Sister, let me drop you home.”
Shangguan Ning didn’t refuse his offer. She knew that she looked like a mess. She thanked him and allowed him to drive her home.
