Su Ran might have thought that it would be easy but her optimism was shattered the second the game has started.
That was the moment when Su Ran realized why the was a cart in the event and that it was part of the rule that the feet of the person with the marbles must never touched the ground.
Never mind the obstacles in increased difficulty, the field for the competition was not even to begin with. The cart, on the other hand, had very small wheels and was not shock-proof at all. The unsteadiness while standing on it had entirely exceeded Su Ran’s expectation.
She immediately lost two marbles as soon as they have taken their very first step.

As she watched another marble went flying out, Su Ran’s chest tightened and, crouching down, she guarded the remaining marbles with her life.
Even that wasn’t easy. Even though Su Ran was already trying as hard as she could in covering up the marbles in her tray, she still lost a few more during the next bump.
This was much more difficult than just carrying the tray and walking to the finish line.
“We are at the first obstacle. I will be snaking around six times. Think you can handle that?” asked Lu Shao as he stopped in front of the first obstacle.
“Mmhmm.” Su Ran nodded.
Looking at the way Su Ran was protecting the marbles, something indescribable flashed past Lu Shao’s eyes.
“Do you want to win this so badly?” He asked all of a sudden.
“Of course!”
Su Ran had always taken competitions very seriously, let it be her music competitions in the past or this quality development one.
If it’s a competition, then of course it’s best to win it, not to mention that the points that they earned here could potentially affect her son’s end-of-term final scoring.
“Alright, then.” Lu Shao nodded.

Having said that, before Su Ran could even react, she saw Lu Shao bent down and picked her up sideway.

That being said, this was, indeed, much more stable than riding on the cart and Lu Shao was also very steady when he passed through the obstacles. It was not bumpy at all.
It was certainly true that they were not losing any more marbles and that they were progressing much faster.

“No,” said Lu Shao very definitively. He then added, “The rules only mentioned that a cart is provided; it did not specific that you have to use it or that you cannot use any other means.”
If that was against the rules, he could consider going to have a cup of tea with the principal…

Even so, he was only doing that for the sake of winning the game. This was already a lot to ask.

Seeing that Lu Shao had picked Su Ran up directly half way through, his eyes widened so much that they could pop out of his sockets.

“Fellow student, you may only remain outside of the yellow line during the game and wait for your teammates to arrive.” A teacher on the side quickly stopped Su Han when she noticed that he was about to dash into the course.
