Title: My Son Might be a Villain

Chapter 243 - "It's time for bed." (3)

When they arrived at her room, Su Ran was baffled when neither the father nor the son showed any signs of leaving.

“Do you want to have spicy and numbing crawl fish?”

That was Su Han who asked.

Hearing that, Su Ran busted out laughing at her son’s there-is-nothing-that-an-order-of-crawl-fish-can’t-solvelook.

“Psst. There’s no need. The production team had provided us with free dinner.”

“Then do you want to go for a walk?”

“Why would anyone go for a walk in the middle of the night?” This was Lu Shao.

He turned over to Su Ran after saying that and asked, “Do you have your own room?”

“No, I share a room with Teacher Li Yan. She was the one whom I mentioned before. She is the music teacher whom I travelled with,” explained Su Ran.

Li Yan sent her a WeChat message this afternoon that she would be visiting an old schoolmate tonight as there was no work and she would not be coming back tonight.

Su Ran seemed to have picked up a shred of disappointment on Lu Shao with her explanation.

Before Su Ran could give that too much thought, Lu Shao said again, “Then don’t stay up too late. My room is right next to yours. Let me know if you need anything.”

Having said that, he gave Su Han, who had no intention of leaving, a look and frowned. Then he said in the most solemn tone, “Pick up your suitcase. Let’s go.”

What Su Han really wanted to say to him was:  You be on your way. I am staying with my Mom!

But, considering that Su Ran didn’t have the room to herself, he had no choice but to give up on that idea. He followed Lu Shao to their room next door with a long face.

“It’s so late already. Don’t go bother your mother. Everything can wait till tomorrow. I will take care of any of her problems,” said Lu Shao patiently for a change when he saw Su Han starting straight at the room door.

Su Ran, upon hearing that, pursed his lips and also, for a change, did not rebut the man’s words.

The very next second, however, Lu Shao added, “Besides, it’s bedtime for you already.”

Adolescent boys between the age of 12 to 15 should have 8 hours of sleep a day and best to go to bed before 9 PM.

That’s what Lu Shao had read on the web.

They were already an hour late.

Hearing Lu Shao’s words, Su Han was displeased all of a sudden.

“What does my bedtime have to do with you?” said Su Han unhappily and with a frown. After a short pause, he said, “Besides, school is out right now!”

“Oh? Why do I recall that school’s not out for another two days?” rebutted Lu Shao while raising his brows.

He seemed to have looked over in the direction of the room next to them and there was a sense of threat in his look.

“Hrm! So what? Why aren’t you going to bed then?” Su Ran retorted as he stared at Lu Shao as though he was a thief of sort.

Once their eyes met, the two already knew what each other had in mind.

The atmosphere, for a while there, was suffocating.

“So you don’t want to sleep, right?” After the two had been staring at each other for a while, Lu Shao suddenly put down the cup in his hand and got up from the couch.

“What does that have to do with….”

SMACK!

A book was tossed in front of him before he was done talking.

Advanced microeconomics?

The heck?!

Su Han’s eyes widened as he looked at the book in front of him.

Then he heard Lu Shao said in a very moderate pace, “Since you don’t want to go to bed, you should make good use of your time on something meaningful.”

“And this is your idea of meaningful?” Su Han picked up the book and asked rudely. “Pray tell, what is the value of this to a high school freshman?”

“Freshman? Yeah, that is a bit early. But you should know some of it anyway.”

“Besides,” said Lu Shao as he gave Su Han a weightless look. “This is your mother’s idea.”

Like heck I’d believe you!

Su Han wanted to retort but, when he saw the look on Lu Shao, his instinct told him that Lu Shao was telling the truth.

“Finish reading pages 1 through 20 before you go to bed. You can ask me if you have any questions,” said Lu Shao as he looked at Su Han.

Truth was, he brought with him other books on entry level economics, common economics terminologies, basic economics knowledge, etc. Nevertheless, the stuck-up look on the boy made him not want to pull the others out just yet.
