“What do you want to eat?”
There were two sets of menus and ladies had the first priority.
Ji Qingqing glanced at the menu and ordered two dishes and Zhang Lala ordered two dishes too. The lady boss wrote it down. Then she faced the kitchen and hollered out the order. Smiling, she said, “Please sit here and wait for a bit. Your items will arrive shortly.”
Saying that, she went to pour tea and shift the stools for the staff.
A man carrying a huge sack of rice entered the restaurant. The lady boss saw him and quickly hurried over to take the bag of rice from his shoulders and carry it.
Ji Qingqing then noticed that the man’s two sleeves were empty and he didn’t have any arms.
“I already told you so many times. Don’t do this kind of work. If we are short on rice or oil, Da Zhou will go buy it.” The lady boss nagged at him as she patted the dust off his body.
The man’s eyes were all on the lady boss. He straightforwardly smiled. “I’m free and have nothing to do either.”
The lady boss glared at him and pulled him to sit down. She gave him the plate of melon seed which she had peeled. A couple of melon seeds were roughly stuffed into his mouth. “Here. They’re peeled and I’m too lazy to eat them. Since you’re free, go ahead and finish them.”
The man laughed. The lady boss stuffed one in and he ate one. It was like the person before his eyes was his whole world and Ji Qingqing and the other people in the shop totally could not be seen.
“Previously when I asked around if there was anything to eat in the vicinity, I heard about the two of them.” Zhang Lala lowered her voice and succeeded in getting their attention. “I think there was a fire and he rushed in to save the lady boss. In the end, there was a gas explosion, but luckily he survived.”
Ji Qingqing thoughtfully gazed at the two of them. Although the lady boss was complaining, she couldn’t hide her gaze and the smile on her mouth. The man’s eyes were focused on gazing intently at the lady boss. He didn’t know how to express himself and only laughed foolishly. The plate of melon seeds had that few bits remaining. Then, someone from the kitchen hollered out that the dishes were ready and the lady boss got up to serve the dishes.
“We’ve kept you waiting. Please enjoy your meal.”
After serving the dishes, she returned to the man’s side and continued to feed him melon seeds.
Zhang Lala looked at the two of them and remarked, “I hope in the future I can marry a person who goes against the world and is willing to give up their life for me.”
Ji Qingqing poked the rice in her bowl. “I would rather hope to marry a man who would make me go against the world and be willing to give up my life for him.”
“Eh?”
Ji Qingqing laughed. “If I’m already willing to give up my life for him, then I must love him very much. I’m only willing to marry someone I love and not someone who only loves me.”
Lu Lixing’s hand which was holding the chopsticks paused. His gaze shifted, looked at the smile on Ji Qingqing’s face, and remained silent for a while.
Zhang Lala gaze drifted between the two of them. Eventually, she pursed her lips and smiled. “Noted.”
After the meal, Ji Qingqing and Lu Lixing returned back to the hotel. That restaurant’s food wasn’t just for show. Although the interior looked plain, the food’s color, smell, and taste were all superb; no wonder it was so popular. Ji Qingqing had eaten a little too much so her stomach didn’t feel too good. During the journey back, she massaged her stomach and didn’t talk much.
“Feeling uncomfortable?”
Ji Qingqing nodded her head. “I overate.”
They passed by a pharmacy at the roadside and Lu Lixing stopped the car. After five minutes, he came out with a bag and passed it to Ji Qingqing.

Ji Qingqing popped out two pieces and chewed it. A while passed and only then did she feel better.
“I told you to eat less, but you didn’t listen.”
“That’s because the food was too delicious. Those were the best dishes I’ve eaten ever since trying Aunt Pei’s food.”
“Later at night when Chen Shuyi invites us for dinner, don’t push yourself.”
“Ok.”
