Sehun had believed that he could skillfully deal with any situation that he was met with despite never having seen it before. But back then, for some reason, he couldn’t push away the hand that reached out for him.

After a moment’s deliberation, Sehun leaned against the wall and stood next to Yoonshin briefly. Neither said a word. After Yoonshin shook away the last drops of his tears, he thanked him, bowed respectfully, and walked into the cafeteria next to the memorial altar. He greeted the other visitors with a smile on his white face and conversed with the elderly who came to the funeral house alone. Sehun turned around after watching the inner strength under the grief.

Sehun didn’t know Yoonshin’s name until after a few years had passed. He knew that Yoonshin was the son of Professor Do, so if he wanted to, he could have easily found out—yet Sehun didn’t do so. He felt like the memory of that day when he stood by a stranger, which was unlike himself, would repeatedly resurface.

People said that the first attachment was the scariest. Sehun wondered if that applied to cases like these.

Moreover, Sehun disliked caring for another person very, very much.

“He’s crying alone again.” He clicked his tongue but couldn’t take his eyes off Yoonshin. His eyes grew fierce and sharp like a bird of prey.

Act 07

His phone vibrated.

Sehun, who was tying his necktie in front of the mirror of his dressing room, turned to the origin of the sound. His phone, sitting atop a shelf, was vibrating.

Looking at the screen, it was Secretary Tak. He finished straightening out his clothes and picked up the call.

“It’s Secretary Tak,” the other man on the line said.

“Which one is it?” Even though Sehun went straight to the point without any form of greeting, Secretary Tak wasn’t shaken. There was a click of a device before the secretary continued, “It was a vehicle registered under Soohan Group. The true owner is the secretary of the second son’s wife—the one working under Director Ikyung Do. Apparently, the car is used when she moves around privately.”

It was as he expected. Yoonshin ended up pouring tears at the end of the conversation, so the other person had to be someone who could elicit such a reaction. Based on what Sehun had read from the report about his relationships, his sister seemed to be the most likely subject.

With women, unless they were extremely tall, it was difficult to differentiate between them solely based on their silhouette. Just in case it was a girlfriend, Sehun wanted to confirm. He already had a hunch that it was Ikyung in the first place. “What else?”

“You only asked to find the registration, so that’s as far as I looked into it,” Secretary Tak replied.

“You said it was shocking and weird yesterday. Knowing you, you wouldn’t have just looked past this. Plus, you had enough time between then and this morning.”

“The other party is Soohan. If I wanted to find out more, it would cost a lot. You should formally put in a request to the firm or use your private investigators.”

“You would’ve snagged something that costs less in time and money.”

Sehun must have hit the mark because Secretary Tak was wordless for a moment. Then, he said, “I wasn’t trying to find out, but when I was asked the investigation unit to look into Attorney Do’s surroundings, I picked up something about Soohan’s second wife.”

“Is this something on the report that you gave me?”

“No. Apparently, her public appearances are very irregular these days. She used to attend the group’s events quite regularly, but she’s been missing those often. She also used to go to her art gallery every day, but she’s been missing work frequently.”

“Is this related to Yoonshin Do?” Sehun asked.

“I’m not sure, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. If it had anything to do with Attorney Do, it would have probably been a part of the report from the investigation unit.”

Was it just his sister’s personal affairs? With that in mind, it made sense that Yoonshin reacted so severely when he learned of it.

Sehun mused, leaning against the counter with one arm. He was silent for a moment. Secretary Tak then added, “What should I do? Should I request further investigation at the firm?”

“No, good work. See you in 30 minutes.”

“Yes, sir, I’ll see you later.”

After hanging up, Sehun was expressionless. He recalled the scene he witnessed last night and fell into deep thought. Everything else aside, his sister showing up and personally giving Yoonshin a document was suspicious. There was a high chance that something happened in their family that needed to be managed through documents.

But one thing bothered him. For it to be a simple documentary exchange, Yoonshin’s reaction was too abnormal.

“It doesn’t seem like a power of attorney,” Sehun muttered to himself. He checked his watch and put on his jacket. Following that, he grabbed his briefcase and car keys and left his dressing room.

His train of thought continued as he waited for the elevator.

Whatever happened to the siblings didn’t seem like a simple case. Yesterday, Yoonshin cried just like when his father passed away. Sehun was certain that something as shocking as a family member’s death hit Yoonshin.

‘So annoying.’ He was irritated at himself for continuing to think about Yoonshin. He reached for the back of his neck with his rather large hands. As he massaged the muscles of his neck, the mouth of the elevator opened.

The numbers on the elevator display decreased quickly.

He soon reached the lobby of the parking garage and slipped out of the glass middle door. At that moment, a familiar face popped out of the entrance of Building C —Yoonshin.

Sehun stopped in his tracks and glared at Yoonshin.

Eyes puffy, Yoonshin barely managed to put a smile on his face, just like back then.

“What’s so funny, huh?”
