“This place feels strangely lonely. Maybe the room takes after the owner.”

Sehun frowned, at a loss for words. On his screen, Yoonshin held his flashlight to walk over to his desk, then flipped through his calendar. That wasn’t all. He pointed his flashlight at his own room, then he extended his hand in the stream of light and had a fun time playing with shadow puppets.

“Does he think my office is a playground? I went too easy on him.” He gritted his teeth, about to press the button on the intercom to summon Secretary Tak.

Yoonshin said in a troubled voice, making Sehun stop mid-movement, “I need to find some sort of weakness so I can beg him to please help me.”

He continued to stare at the screen. He watched the uninvited intruder open a file on his desk, and in a matter of minutes, he set everything back in place and left the room. Furrowing his brow to form a deep crease, Sehun continued to glower at the short video recording that had already ended. A complex look flashed by his cold eyes.

Yoonshin wasn’t an idiot; he should have known that there wasn’t anything important enough to waltz in and steal. But the fact that he poked around meant that he had some reason to take a risk and dig around, or he used that as an excuse to grasp at straws.

‘Help him… with what?’ Sehun tapped his desk at a steady rhythm. As he mulled over the audio that was recorded with the video, the event he witnessed a few days ago near their apartment replayed like a reel of film.

Sehun raised the blinds of the window facing the hallway. He could immediately see Yoonshin through his large window across the hall. He looked very busy—he had the receiver of his phone in one ear, his cellphone against the other ear, and was talking animatedly while moving his hands.

Shortly after, he put down the phone’s receiver and continued to talk passionately into the cellphone. It didn’t seem like the conversation went well. As he stood up while continuing his phone conversation, he spotted Sehun, who was staring at him from across the hall. Yoonshin silently greeted the older lawyer. Sehun didn’t respond and continued to stare.

Yoonshin looked a bit taken aback and grinned awkwardly. He clearly felt guilty about something. It was an obvious reaction since Yoonshin probably didn’t need to lie very much. Sehun knew that very well and continued to drill holes into the other with his eyes.

“Of course you’d feel guilty since you did something bad,” Sehun’s voice slipped out from between his lips, but it didn’t reach Yoonshin.

Yoonshin mouthed, “What did you say?” and tilted his head, but Sehun simply shook his head in response. Yoonshin seemed conflicted on whether he should focus on Sehun or his call, so to tell Yoonshin to work, Sehun pulled down his blinds once again.

With his vision blocked from the outside, Sehun’s eyes drifted down to the figurine of Dike, the goddess of justice, on his desk. “What shall I do?”

There were two things he could do immediately. “On the left, I could ignore it for now, and on the right, I can screw him over by exposing him to the world at large.”

He gnawed on his lip as he touched the moveable scale hanging on one hand of the statue. Then, as if to leave the decision to the goddess, he slightly pushed the circular plate of the scale.

The scale wobbled and bounced from left to right while screeching like a top set to motion with a whip. It bobbed back and forth as if to determine which side was heavier. Despite only starting its work, it quickly lost its momentum and stopped after a few oscillations. And of all things, it tilted to the right. Sehun frowned slightly when he saw that.

“Screw him over.” He made an ambiguous face and pushed the scales a bit harder to give it a second chance.

This time again, it creaked sharply as it moved before it slowly came to a stop. However, the scale leaned to the right yet again. Sehun made a complicated face as he stared down at the scale and flicked it again.

“It seems the gods aren’t on your side, Yoonshin Do.” Sehun knew intuitively that he shouldn’t overlook the sides of Yoonshin that he wanted to hide. He felt that his own life would start twisting if he thoughtlessly interfered. It wasn’t just a simple feeling but an objective judgment based on his sense of reality.

However, the problem wasn’t Yoonshin—it was Sehun who held the power to choose in his hands. He could simply ignore the younger man, just as he ignored others so far, but for some reason, it wasn’t easy.

Why did his eyes keep following Yoonshin?

What was so special about him?

While Sehun was furrowing his brows, there was a knock at his door. “It’s open.”

The door opened cautiously at his answer. Sehun didn’t look at the door and continued, “Could you bring some pain meds from the infirmary? I keep having a pain in the neck these days.”

“Do you have a headache?” the man at the door asked.

Sehun thought that the visitor must have been Secretary Tak, but it wasn’t the case. Yoonshin, who had finished his call at some point, had the coffee that he asked from Secretary Tak in his hand. Sehun leaned back leisurely into his chair and stared silently at Yoonshin at the door. The younger man shrugged. “So, can I come in?”

“Since when did you come in with my permission?” Sehun made a pregnant remark, startling Yoonshin, cheeks turning pink. He seemed a bit ashamed on one hand, and he also looked a bit sorry.
