It was as if the author had compensated all the good he did with the setting by giving the protagonist a shitty personality. Although it wasn't as obvious at the beginning, the main character's fight for 'supremacy' wasn't a good sight to see from any other point of view towards the end.

Killing someone strong wasn't hard considering where he was starting coupled with what he knew, but killing a protagonist was a completely different story. Almost nothing could combat the power of plot armor!
