Ye Mu was wide awake, in full consciousness of her own actions last night. She looked at her hands, of which her white fingers were once smeared with blood.
Back in the battlefield of her old world, when she used her gun to annihilate people, she didn’t feel anything at doing the act. But it was only afterwards, when the adrenaline had simmered down, when she would feel a heavy, crushing weight in her heart.
But now, after she had truly used her hands to kill—no, massacred, five hundred people, something in her heart seemed to have shattered; her firm belief in herself had crumbled. She was even thinking that if this continued, would she eventually become like Ye Li?
