153 Chapter 152: A tough decision

Seeing the cruel look in Damon’s eyes, Klien knew better than to piss the death mage off. He only shot Cyrus a glance and promptly left the room with Lucy.

“You were a bit harsh. You know that right?” Elsa said in a low tone and Damon sighed.

He leaned back and shut his eyes without bothering to respond. For some reason, he had no intention of letting these people know how he feels. He could finally feel his wounds healing slowly and his mana reserves getting replenished and only then did he let out a sigh of relief.

This war went ways no one expected it to go. All through the entire time, he made plans but never considered the enemy’s possible methods of response, and that almost cost him.

Bang!

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

Suddenly the massive doors of the courtroom swung open and three figures walked in at a slow and steady pace. Their eyes were filled with cruel lights as they gazed at the youth sitting on the throne that once belonged to them.

Everyone in the room became tense but Damon remained calm and even amused.

“You have returned after observing this war for a while now. At a point, I really thought you all would turn your back on the blood mountain and leave” Damon said with a cruel smile and the three men frowned.

Each of them had a striking resemblance to Cassius and they all had long white hair with bright blood-red eyes.

.....

“Brothers... I can explain...” Cassius fell on one knee.

“There is nothing to explain... We have seen everything for ourselves... How dare you work for someone who destroyed the kingdom we built together?” One of the three names Michael asked with fierce looks in his eyes.

Guessing from the way everyone around remained silent, it was obvious even though they were all at the same level, they had silently agreed to make this person their leader.

“Hmph! The kingdom you created? One that survives on the blood of helpless men, women, and children. Starved, suffering from malnutrition. Some of them were raped by your wild vampires whom you put laws over. A lawless world is a jungle. You had a jungle and not a kingdom!” Damon sneered with disdain flashing in his eyes.

Hearing his words, everyone here frowned but didn’t say a thing. Their eyes moved to Micheal who gazed at Damon with fierce eyes but Damon remained calm.

“We were treated like animals... we are only giving them a taste of their own medicine.” Micheal responded coldly. For some reason, he couldn’t speak to Damon disrespectfully, probably because of his identity as the death mage.

“The ones who treated you like crap are dead. Those still alive are the major pillars of various kingdoms now. They should be your target. Or does it sound fair to you when you blame the actions of a father on his fourth generation? How many more of their generation has to die to pay for the sins of their fathers? As far as I’m concerned, you are trying to play God... who gave you the right to do that?” Damon growled as his eyes turned blood red and the cracks began spreading across his face but he remained seated.

His hands gripped the armchair of the throne tightly while he gazed at the enemy, yet to make a major movement but the tension in the room was already at its peak.

It felt like a fight could happen at any time.

“...” Micheal frowned as he heard this, not knowing how to reply.

“Sighs... I will create a world where everyone can live together and fight against the real enemies hidden within the shadows. As soon as I win this war going on, I will lay foundations for my empire. Whether you plan to lend me a hand or not doesn’t really concern me. Just don’t get in my way.... Or you will die at my hands” Damon spoke slowly but his words stung the hearts of all those who dared to listen to them.

His death aura began diffusing across the room, spreading wild and far as his rage kept building up within. Micheal stood in silence and gazed at him for a while before speaking.

“They are not the main threat now. To be honest, I have come here today, not to have you kill the four great kingdoms but to have you spare their lives!” Michael said.

Buzz!

Damon and everyone else in the room frowned at this as the confusion in their hearts was written all over their faces

“What do you mean?” Damon was shocked.

“Have you ever considered life outside this continent? The possible existence of other beings living outside the continent. If yes then you are not wrong. They are coming... all of them are gathering in the central plains. This is not an army we can fight alone. We need the four great kingdoms alive or it’s all over for us!” Micheal fell on both knees and bowed as he pleaded, leaving everyone in the room dumbfounded. How could the person who treated humans and other races like livestock suddenly beg for their lives?

For something like this to happen, something serious must have happened but where did he get such news or how did he see something even Elsa hasn’t seen?

Damon frowned at everything he just heard. He didn’t know whether to take this seriously or push it aside like it was some joke.

“This battle that has started cannot be stopped... It will only end with my victory... As for your current fears, none of that matters now. Deal with the problem now and think about the future later” Damon waved his hand and dismissed the issue casually, stunning everyone.

Damon has always been someone who prioritized safety over a lot of things. He wasn’t the type not to plan ahead so he should have at least asked for the details. His actions were strange and everyone looked at him in the face to show their concern.

“We have started a movement that cannot be stopped. Any other delay can lead to our demise! So I have to ask this question. What would be better? A united army under one banner, bearing one flag and fighting for one reason, or different armies with different agendas and possible backstage?” Damon asked coldly and everyone frowned and began to ponder.

“What if you fail to take down the four kingdoms. Even without the current kings, their heirs are already known to be as powerful as their parents if not slightly stronger. This is not a war you can win easily and even if you win, how long will it take to rebuild everything that has been lost and gain the trust of the people you rule? I suggest you let go of this battle and focus on things that are far more important now” Micheal said with his face lowered and only then did the frown on Damon’s face lessen.

If someone like Micheal claims there are more capable people within the four great kingdoms, then it must be true...

“What exactly do you think is more important than conquering the continent?” Damon leaned back casually and frowned.

“Acquiring the inheritance of the hosts... From what I have seen so far, you are the only one amongst these four with the death inheritance. Without their inheritance they will remain incomplete and unable to face the new invaders” Micheal said with a frown.

Buzzzz!

Hearing this the room fell silent and Damon leaned back with his eyes shut. Micheal had a point, conquering the continent is not as easy as it seems. Battles here now end fast because the enemy forces have no place to run but it was totally different when it comes to invading a kingdom.

Such a feat would take months to accomplish, talk more of conquering the entire four kingdoms. Since that’s not possible, the main aim now should be to drive away the invaders and have his people return to his side. With Micheal and other members of the first blood here, he should be capable of protecting the blood mountain. With the mountain protected and his disciple’s safety guaranteed, he and the four hosts under him can go acquire their inheritance.

But gaining one’s inheritance is no minor issue, what he has now is not even the complete inheritance of the death pathway but he dared not reveal it to anyone.

Damon leaned back and shut his eyes tight as he pondered on what to do. His eyes seemed empty and weak as he considered a few things.

“What kind of people are these invaders?” Damon muttered to himself.

Know your enemy and you will know their weakness but he knew nothing about this enemy. Neither did he know anything about their abilities or cultivation base. In fact, the enemy must be knowledgeable about them for them to gather in numbers and travel toward the central continent.

Bang!

“Do they think they can step foot on my continent and live to see tell the story?” Damon growled as he slammed his fists on the armrests of his throne.
