Dumped? Yu Zhou couldn’t bear to have this word be used on Su Chang.

Even if she used it on herself.

Strangely, Su Chang was not wrong. Yu Zhou was the one who initiated the breakup, but for a long time, Yu Zhou felt like she was the one who had been abandoned.

Or perhaps, the one who couldn’t keep up.

Until today, she seemed to see an inconspicuous lingering in Su Chang’s bitter smile, which made her both surprised and unsurprised.

As her mind suddenly stopped working.

She looked at Su Chang, the cold sweat on her forehead hadn’t disappeared as she took two light breaths before asking Su Chang, “Actually, if I say that Xiang Wan was struck by lightning a month ago and suddenly traveled through time to my home, would you believe it?”

She didn’t know what she was faintly expecting, but she was a little nervous.

Su Chang looked at her, her eyebrows moved as she bent her middle finger, her thumb touching the plain ring on her finger, feeling it for a moment.

She really wanted to convince herself because the Yu Zhou in front of her was so well-behaved, her lips still pale while her body couldn’t stand straight. However, she looked up at Su Chang, just like before, with eyes only focused on her.

But Yu Zhou said such a ridiculous sentence, making her expression seem like she was mocking Su Chang.

Su Chang was silent for a few seconds before speaking, trying to make her disappointed tone less obvious. She said, “If you don’t want to tell me, you don’t have to.”

She had just said that Yu Zhou didn’t need to lie to her.

“Ah,” Yu Zhou felt pain again, her eyes reddening a bit before she said, “I’m sorry, I forgot.”

“I’ll remember next time, no more lies, okay?”

After saying that, she felt a little better and wanted to wash her hands again.

It’s still her fault for being cunning all the time. Look, the story of the boy who cried wolf, also called “I told you all the lies, you believed all of them, the simple one, she got struck by lightning, but you never believe.”

It’s been sung out.

However, it’s a bit of a pity that this seems to be one of the few truths she has told Su Chang since their reunion.

She washed her hands again and dried them. Just as Su Chang was about to leave with her, Yu Zhou stopped her.

After thinking for a moment, she stood in front of Su Chang and said, “No matter where she comes from, my relationship with her is not like that.”

Su Chang was a bit surprised and looked at her seriously with her eyes slightly lowered.

“Don’t misunderstand. I mean, even though we broke up, I wouldn’t bring a new love interest to show off or anything like that. I still have basic morals,” Yu Zhou said sincerely.

“She’s just my roommate now.” It was because of their pure relationship that she brought her without any hesitation, even though the development of the situation was somewhat unexpected.

“You…” Why did you need to explain so seriously? There was a faint softening in Su Chang’s eyes.

“Uh, I don’t mean that you particularly care about this matter,” Yu Zhou tried to choose her words carefully, “but whether you like it or not, no matter if you’ve moved on, I think seeing an ex showing off their new love interest would be quite annoying for anyone. It’s just human nature. Besides, I’m not that kind of person.”

“Human nature.” Su Chang repeated these words in a very low voice.

Then she asked Yu Zhou, “If I brought a new girlfriend, would you be unhappy too?”

“Ah?” Yu Zhou looked up, “Do you have one?”

Su Chang, who had been quite serious, couldn’t help but laugh at her sudden reaction. She said, “I don’t.”

Yu Zhou, who could never grasp the main point.

Or rather, was too good at grasping the main point.

Yu Zhou didn’t know what to say next, so she couldn’t help but clear her throat and say, “Let’s go out. It smells a bit here.”

It was then that she remembered the two of them were in the restroom.

Su Chang nodded and went back to the table with her.

Xiang Wan was eating shrimp with her head down, while Peng Xiangzhi’s eyes, as sharp as those of Black Cat Sheriff, sweeping back and forth between Su and Yu. She put down her chopsticks, “You guys took soooo long, huh?”

She deliberately lengthened the stressed syllable, emphasizing, which is the voice actor’s basic skill.

“Yeah, my period came, with a little cramp. Fortunately, Ms.Su was there and lent me a pad.”

Yu Zhou said this without any pretense, looking pitiful and pale.

So Peng Xiangzhi quickly said, “Oh, then you can’t drink cold beverages anymore. Let me ask them to bring you a pot of hot water. Can you still eat the crayfish? It’s a bit spicy.”

She didn’t have menstrual cramps, so she wasn’t sure what could be eaten and what couldn’t.

“It’s fine. I’ll sit for a while and I’ll be better. You guys enjoy your meal.”

Though she said this, when there’s someone uncomfortable at the table, the rest of the people can’t enjoy themselves too much. They hurriedly ate, hoping to finish the meal early.

As usual, Su Chang drove them home, first dropping off Peng Xiangzhi, then Yu Zhou and Xiang Wan.

How should I put it? Yu Zhou thought she was a bit pitiful. She recorded all day, didn’t have a good meal, and still had to drive people home.

She seemed like a victim.

The whole ride was silent until they reached the residential area. They parked in the same spot as last time. Yu Zhou and Xiang Wan politely said goodbye to Su Chang. This time, Su Chang waited in the underground garage for a while, watching the two of them get on the elevator before driving out of the garage.

Yu Zhou’s body felt a bit better after being in the car for a while, so she wasn’t tired anymore. In the elevator, she asked Xiang Wan, “Are you tired? Do you want to go for a walk? I just remembered that we don’t have any pads at home. We can buy some on the way.”

“Not tired.”

The two of them pressed the button for the first floor and strolled from the community garden to the east gate. They walked along the extended shops outside the residential area.

At the nearest intersection, Su Chang’s car stopped at a red light, and she saw two familiar figures in the rearview mirror.

She watched them come out of the gate, talking and walking outward, their light-colored T-shirts conspicuous in the dark night.

A car behind honked briefly, making Su Chang snap back to reality and stepping on the accelerator.

The night breeze was particularly considerate that day, not sticky, not feeling like summer at all. After being blown for a while, their spirits lifted. The neon lights of the shops flickered beside them, and occasionally, voices could be heard from the restaurants. Ah, the atmosphere of the world was just so comfortable.

As they walked, Yu Zhou said to Xiang Wan, “Wanwan, I want to discuss something with you.”

“Go ahead.”

“Do you want to attend that voice acting training?”

Xiang Wan hadn’t really thought about it. Since she arrived here, she had always been a beginner, just trying to fit in as quickly as possible to avoid feeling too embarrassed. So, she just did whatever Yu Zhou said, without considering right or wrong, preferences or dislikes.

But earlier at the Tianyin Building, she had left Yu Zhou for the first time and was alone in the recording studio. She put on the headphones and listened to the crackling sound of the electric current. The microphone stood in front of her, while the recording engineer outside the glass window prepared everything, adjusting it all to the best state, waiting for her to speak.

It was like a small, isolated world where she could wield her own sword.

Then, her voice played back through the speakers, being listened to, saved, and recorded. At that moment, she thought that if she were indeed a voice actor, perhaps her voice could lead her into many people’s ears, into thousands of households.

It would be interesting for people to hear her, to listen to her speak.

Otherwise, her voice would only be used in her daily life, calling her father, mother, and maybe in the future, her husband and children.

She couldn’t say she really liked the idea, but she was somewhat interested.

Yu Zhou could tell, even without Xiang Wan’s response.

Yu Zhou said, “If you want to go, I’ll help you sign up. But there’s one thing, I don’t know how long you’ll stay here. If you suddenly go back after we’ve signed up, wouldn’t my money be wasted? Although it’s not that expensive, it’s still a bit distressing.”

Xiang Wan looked at her with expectant eyes, waiting for her to continue.

“So I’m thinking, let’s wait a little longer to see if there’s any thunderstorm coming up. If there is one, perhaps you could travel back then. We have some connections now; if you haven’t gone back when it’s almost time to sign up, I’ll ask Director Peng to reserve a spot for you.”

“What if I finish learning but then encounter a thunderstorm?” Xiang Wan asked.

“No problem,” Yu Zhou was optimistic. “Even if you only learn half of it, you’ll still gain something. You can consider it as an additional skill, like performing it for your family and friends when you go back.”

Xiang Wan laughed.

“Maybe you can even start your own school with the knowledge from the 21st century,” Yu Zhou had high hopes for her.

That’s right, Xiang Wan was from the past, and when she went back, it was uncertain who would be the founder of the voice actors. Yu Zhou thought about it and laughed out loud.
