I took a running gait. I left quickly so that Lennox couldn’t get even half a beat from me.

I was proud thinking that Lennox was out of it from hearing me curse him out.

I quickly headed for the Imperial Palace’s government office.

Dominique, who was in my hand, vibrated briefly while I was on the move.

‘What?’

Dominique and I were in a contractual relationship.

He seemed to be able to read others’ thoughts better than when he was human because he had turned into a sword, the parent of the contract.

Dominique sent me a message in a rush.

‘Are you really okay, Mel? Even so, he is a Duke.’

‘About how I cursed at Lennox?’

I scratched my nose.

I’m sure that little guy was going to get his revenge.

‘It’s okay. My family has the same status. For now.’

And, if I hadn’t overdone it, I didn’t think he would have left me.

‘And he was worse to me.’

When I thought of Lennox’s verbal abuse towards Meldenique every time, my two fists were full of strength.

‘He despised me and also always harassed me.’

And he was so dumbfounded when I told him to get lost.

Hmph.

I snorted loudly.

Dominique paused and continued.

‘……well, even so. If he says something, I can protect you.’

After nodding my head, I whistled and headed back towards to the Imperial Palace’s government office. One of the purposes of coming to the palace was to finish reporting the opening of the business.

Luckily, I was able to finish my business report quickly in the palace.

Of course, even if I was able to report the opening of my business, it received a lot of bad attention……

However, those gazes were rather helpful.

Within the Imperial Palace, the name Meldenique Vaveloa was also known as incompetent.

So the officials gave permission with the looks of ‘she’s going to ruin the business again.’

‘It’s not bad for people to think I’m incompetent.’

Given that they didn’t know what the business plan was and that they didn’t check properly.

I walked out of the government office vigorously, excited by the ambition for success.

I was standing by the side of the road for a moment, packing up all the documents in a long bag with the sword-turned Dominique.

Then, a low, soft voice was heard from behind my back.

“You dropped this document.”

I turned around and looked at the white paper that the man had held out to me.

Since there was a lot of documents, it seemed to have fallen on the floor.

“That is mine, thank you.”

I was handed over the document with my name on it at the top. By chance, our hands brushed gently.

The man held the document that was in my hand and whispered softly.

“Are you serious?”

“……what?”

I could hear a low laugh above my head.

“To say that it’s better to marry me than Duke Hesman.”

“Ah, anyone is better than him.”

As soon as I finished speaking, I heard a clear statement above my head.

“I feel good.”

It was a languid, dreary voice in a mid-to-low pitched tone.

I hesitated to finish packing my paperwork. There’s only one person who can ask this.

‘Is he the guy who was wearing the shirt earlier?’

I think I had seen him from the back.

I looked up to see the face of the man who spoke to me. But he had already walked past me.

Only his cool scent carried by the wind remained where he passed.

I fixed my bag after nodding my head.

Now that I had finished reporting the opening, I won’t have any more businesses at the Palace.

I didn’t think I’ll ever meet a black-haired man who seemed to have something to do with Lennox.

It felt a little strange.

But that was all. Because I won’t have to see him again anymore.

***

I came back to the shabby stationary store building.

‘There’s no dust, so you can relax.’

Unlike yesterday, the inside of the building was very tidy and clean. It was thanks to Dominique’s clumsy cleaning magic from this morning.

I sat in a chair that was missing a leg on the first floor and looked at Dominique.

He had already left the sword and changed his body into a human.

“We’re going to remodel tomorrow, so let’s go to the store.”

“Yes, let’s.”

“Hm…… Fortunately, we have some money, so we’re just trying to make it properly, got it?”

The money given by Duke Vaveloa was about 200 million bekrels.

It will cost about 100 million bekrels to hire a wizard to remodel the building. The remaining 100 million bekrels can be used for purchases for the inside.

It was just a penny for Duke Vaveloa, but it was not enough for me as a small business owner.

“Okay.”

He answered quietly.

I wondered suddenly.

Why did this sword suddenly look so thoughtful?

“What are you thinking about with such a face?”

“Is that man from before your fiancé, Mel?”

Ah, was it because of the incident with Lennox?

I answered calmly.

“Yeah. He was. Not anymore.”

He seemed curious since I wasn’t hurt.

Did the mutual contract between the sword and human made it possible to roughly infer each other’s feelings?

I began to feel similar uncomfortable feelings that he felt.

Dominique muttered, sweeping his dark hair roughly.

“……yeah, of course, it’s a waste for you.”

“That’s right.”

“Even though you’re pushing for a fraudulent contract and use a great sword like me for crappy things.”

It’s a little weird?

‘Why do I feel like you’re cursing at me?’

I glanced at him with suspicious eyes.

“What’s with you. You’re not cursing Duke Hesman, but me?”

“I’m not.”

Dominique was all over the place.

I laughed and and tapped Dominique back to his senses.

There was no time for jokes. I had something important to do tonight.

I rummaged through the clutch I had left on the table earlier.

Then I took out two sheets of high quality paper from the family and a fountain pen.

The precious paper had magic on it, so fortunately, it came out well without any creases.

I waved my fountain pen with my right hand and spoke cheerfully.

“I’ve finally told Lennox, so I’m going to write a request for a break-up now.”

Dominique, who was hovering in the old room while I was searching through the clutch, came forward and nodded.

“That’s a very good idea.”

“I have to ask for an excommunication. I thought I would be excommunicated immediately, but why is it so slow?”

To be exact, this was it.

Why were you making Lennox act like a fly around me instead of excommunicating me?

Let’s get on our ways now.

Dominique’s expression was flustered when I said I wanted to be cut off from the Vaveloa family.

“……even though you’re an aristocrat, you’re thinking of giving up your position?”

There were many men who wanted to be the sole of the Duke’s foot, to have the name of Duke Vaveloa.

And Dominique was well aware of that, so it was a decision that wasn’t well understood.

But my father, the Duke, who hated me; my stepmother, Duchess Vaveloa, who wanted to kill me; and my younger sister who felt superior to me and was the heroine, Sheria.

In order to isolate myself from them, I had to give up Vaveloa’s name.

And when Vaveloa’s name is abandoned and I become a commoner, the marriage between me and the Hesman family will naturally be destroyed.

‘I’m also not very greedy.’

I spoke with a smile.

“Yeah, I’m sure. I’m confident.”

“……what confidence?”

“Confidence that I can get my identity as long as I set my heart to?”

‘There is a way to get a noble status, I don’t need it yet though.’

I grinned at him with confidence.

“Why, you who has the best power is here, right?”

Dominic looked at me with a flustered face and red cheeks.

Though he lived for a very long time inside, he looked like a regular 17-year-old boy on the outside, and it was cute when he was embarrassed.

He brushed his face away and murmured quietly.

“Well…… I am reliable and the best sword.”

I gave Dominic a nod.
