Jianghu’s Morals (Part Two)
“Young miss, where are you going? Eldest young sir said that you aren’t allowed to go out and need to stay in bed.”

After Yu Fu finished eating breakfast, she was led back to bed by Lian Zhu and the others. Before her feet could even touch the ground, she was quickly reminded by Lian Bi that she was not to get out of bed.

Yu Fu pouted, “Sister Lian Bi, are you one of my people or eldest brother’s?”

Lian Bi blushed, “Of course, this servant is one of young miss’ people. That’s why everything I do is for young miss’ benefit. The things that eldest young sir said are for young miss’ benefit, thus this servant will naturally listen to them.”

Yu Fu rolled her eyes, “I want to speak with second brother. How about you go and find him for me? Just tell second brother that my health makes it inconvenient for me to go out. Have him take care of YuYang and young miss Yin for me.”

The manor’s female guests were originally supposed to be taken care of by Yu Fu, as she was the only female host in the manor. Her handing this matter to Gu JiuGe could not be considered a mistake. Many of the manor’s affairs were already being handled by Gu JiuGe.

When she thought that she was going to see Gu JiuGe, Lian Bi’s heart skipped a beat, and she subconsciously stroked the hair at her temples.

Yu Fu saw this and immediately knew that there could be something interesting, “Go quickly. I will lay here and won’t go anywhere.”

As Lian Bi turned around and left, Yu Fu moved quickly and got dressed then prepared to go and see someone important, Baibu Yang.

Marquis Gu’s Manor was currently at the heart of the struggle in the capital. Baibu Yang was the one that Gu ShuBai and the others should be focused on, yet everyone was wasting their time worrying about her. This left her feeling a bit embarrassed.

She did not know where Lian Zhu and Yao Lan had gone, but this allowed Yu Fu to successfully leave her courtyard, as she headed toward the manor’s guest room.

She ran into two servants, and they were carrying flower pots. It seemed that they were bringing them to the manor’s greenhouse. Seeing Yu Fu, they immediately bowed in salute, “Congratulations, young miss.”

Yu Fu nodded in reply but suddenly realized something.

They did not say greetings but congratulations?

What were they congratulating her for?

Yu Fu covered her face in embarrassment and continued forward. She then ran into a group of three or four grannies, “Congratulations, young miss.”

“Hehe, thank you, thank you.”

She did not know whether to laugh or cry. Covering her face once more, she basically ran away, as the grannies behind her watched her parting figure with smiles on their faces.

“Our young miss has finally grown up. It has been a long road.”

“That’s right. With this, young miss will soon be able to marry the eldest young sir and will be able to provide the marquis’ manor with heirs.”

As Yu Fu continued on her way, she ran into countless people congratulating her. In the beginning, she was embarrassed, but she gradually got used to it, smiling and nodding to the people who congratulated her.

She was smiling on the outside but was cursing them on the inside.

Yan Zheng, that bastard, had made it so that everyone in the manor knew her secret. He had better pray that she never catch him, or she would surely use some sort of poison to leave him begging for mercy!

When she finally arrived at the guest room, Gu HuaiJiang and Gu ShuBai were both inside. Seeing Yu Fu, they both came out.

Gu ShuBai said: “Didn’t I tell you to rest in your room? Why have you come out?”

Yu Fu’s expression betrayed her embarrassment and said that she did not want to talk about it, “Eldest brother, I’m fine. I just wanted to come and see if I could help at all.”

Baibu Yang and his friend were people who had helped in assassinating the ruler, so they might not be willing to tell Gu ShuBai and the others the truth; however, Yu Fu had a way to make them speak.

Gu ShuBai smiled and said: “I know that you have been anxious to get to the bottom of the case. Since you have come, just obediently sit down and don’t run around. We happened to be listening to them talk about this, so come in and listen with us.”

The group opened up the warmest spot for Yu Fu. Fortunately, nobody congratulated her or brought up yesterday’s matter. They all acted as if they did not know, which allowed Yu Fu to feel much more at ease.

To the side were two grown men dressed in attire common to members of jianghu. The two were wearing plain shirts and jackets, but they could not conceal the muscles that had been developed from training in martial arts. Their eyes contained the satisfaction of having escaped with their lives.

Gu ShuBai pointed at one of the men and said, “This one is Baibu Yang. The one beside him is his friend, Qianli Yun. Both are nicknames from jianghu.”

Yu Fu nodded to the two, and the two cautiously bowed to her. Gu ShuBai said: “This is Princess ZhenJiang. There’s no need for you two to be too courteous. Please continue.”

Baibu Yang was the one with a centipede-shaped scar on his face. He nodded, “I was saying that someone ordered me to teach archery to a nobleman. As long as I taught them for five days, I would be given a thousand taels of silver. I am a poor member of jianghu. Aside from my archery skills, I don’t have any other strengths. I previously earned some money from teaching archery, but this was the first time receiving one thousand taels of silver.”

“The people who came refused to say who had sent them and refused to say whom I was teaching. They just told me to prepare a living space in the capital, and the nobleman would come to seek me out on his own. I was coming to the capital to see brother Yun, so I decided to move into his courtyard. After that, the second prince came and kindly invited me to the second prince’s manor to teach him archery.”

Gu HanMo said: “Then what was going on with the lotus flower arrow?”

Baibu Yang found this matter a little hard to talk about, only speaking after a long pause: “It was given to me by the people who came to look for me at the very beginning. They just said that I should teach the second prince using that sort of arrow; otherwise, with the second prince’s ability to learn martial arts, it would have been impossible to see any improvements in just five days. For the sake of the one thousand taels of silver, I had no choice but to teach him using that sort of arrow. The second prince very quickly became adept with a bow. I clearly knew that someone was controlling the arrow from the shadows, but I did not say anything.”

Qianli Yun patted him on the shoulder and looked toward Gu HuaiJiang and the others, “Lord Marquis Gu, brother Yang has strayed from jianghu’s morals by doing this, but he did not know that the other side would use the lotus flower arrows to kill the ruler! I would swear on my life that if brother Yang knew that it was for the sake of something as vile as killing the ruler, he absolutely would not have done it!”

Before coming, Yu Fu thought that she would see creatures akin to suicide soldiers, and they would be willing to do anything for the sake of money.

But seeing these two people for herself, Yu Fu realized that she had been too narrow-minded. She had thought too poorly of these two people but did not know that jianghu had a morality that was even more profound than what the current court had.

Baibu Yang’s shame showed this morality. Qianli Yun swearing on his life showed this morality.
