Chapter 264 Testing Alisceon's Magic Capacity And Mana Control

Allen’s white cloak fluttered in the cold breeze along with Alisceon’s long golden blonde hair. They basked in the sensation of the cold air caressing their skin until Allen deemed that it was time for them to start the magic lesson.

Using his talent, Allen created a magic crystal ball that was similar in terms of properties to the magic crystal ball back at the Mage’s Association that was used to test a mage’s amount of mana.

Allen made that magic crystal ball to test Alisceon’s mana reserves. Although he could do that easily using a magic spell instead, it was better for Alisceon to know about it as well, so that they could compare her current results after they finished her magic lesson. Allen did that so they could have a way to determine whether Alisceon improved or not.

After Allen created the magic crystal ball, Alisceon immediately recognized it, and she knew that her teacher had created it to test her mana reserves. Alisceon was indeed right since her teacher’s words confirmed her guess.

“Alisceon, place your hand on the magic crystal ball, so we can test the amount of mana you have.”

Allen affirmed Alisceon’s guess as he passed the magic crystal ball to her.

Placing her hand on the magic crystal, the magic crystal devoured Alisceon’s mana but not all of it. After Alisceon’s mana entered the magic crystal, there was a shade of dark blue inside the magic crystal, which indicated the amount of Alisceon’s mana.

Unlike Allen, Alisceon’s mana didn’t overload and destroy the magic crystal, but it was by no means that Alisceon didn’t have a vast mana pool.

It was quite the opposite, since Alisceon’s mana could rival a 7th Circle Mage’s mana pool. There were even signs of cracks on the magic crystal ball, which indicated Alisceon’s vast mana pool.

The way to determine a mage’s mana pool was by using a magic crystal ball, and the darker the shade of blue inside the magic crystal ball, the higher the amount of mana a mage has. And since Alisceon’s magic crystal ball had a dark shade of blue with signs of a crack on the magic crystal ball’s surface, it only meant that Alisceon’s mana was comparable to a 7th Circle Mage’s mana pool.

Only those who can break the magic crystal ball can have the mana pool of an 8th Circle Mage. Also, it didn’t mean that a mage with a vast mana pool was a powerful mage. Only those who could control their mana were qualified to call themselves mages.

The higher the mana a mage had, the more difficult it was to control their mana. And that was why Old Man William was shocked that Allen had a vast mana pool yet he could control it with ease.

As for Alisceon, she would have difficulty in controlling her mana since she had a vast mana pool, but Allen wouldn’t have deemed her a prodigy in magic if she wasn’t one. As long as Alisceon continued her training in magic, it wouldn’t be that long for her to control her vast mana pool with ease.

“As expected of my student! You have a mana pool comparable to a 7th Circle Mage. As long as you have learned to control your mana, you can easily cast those 7th Circle magic spells.”

Allen praised Alisceon’s achievement as he motivated her to train her mana control. From what Allen has noticed, Alisceon already has decent control over her mana.

If Allen was going to rank Alisceon’s mana control, it would be comparable to the mana control of a 5th Circle Mage. So if Alisceon wanted to, she could easily cast 5th Circle magic spells since she had the mana pool and mana control that were required to cast it.

Because of Allen’s keen observation and analysis of Alisceon’s mana control, he didn’t need to test her mana control. So, Allen only needed to test Alisceon’s elemental affinities so that he could give her magic spells that were suited for her elemental affinity.

“I will test your elemental affinity next.”

“Teacher, shouldn’t we test my mana control after the mana capacity test?”

Alisceon asked Allen since she was confused that he immediately jumped to testing her elemental affinity when she had yet to be tested in her mana control.

“I don’t need to test your mana control since I have already determined it from my analysis and observation. Your mana control is comparable to a 5th Circle Mage. As long as we know about your elemental affinity, I can give you 5th Circle magic spells that you can use and practice on.”

Allen answered Alisceon’s question as he promised to give her 5th Circle magic spells as long as they knew about her elemental affinity.

Although a mage that only has fire affinity can use a water affinity magic spell, the mana usage to cast a magic spell that wasn’t compatible with a mage’s affinity was twice or even more than that. That was why most mages who didn’t have any affinity with a certain elemental affinity wouldn’t use a magic spell associated with the elemental affinity that they didn’t have.

An example of that would be a 5th Circle Mage that could use 5th Circle water magic spells but could only use 3rd Circle fire magic spells.

Of course, there were always exceptions, such as those in the legends who could use all elemental affinities or those who had monstrous mana control to the point that they could reduce the amount of mana used to cast a magic spell that wasn’t associated with their elemental affinity.

Allen knew that Aimee Valery, the Supreme Mage, was such an existence. It was already well-known in his world that the Supreme Mage could use all elemental affinities and had monstrous control over her mana to the point she could easily cancel her magic spells despite them already being cast.

Unfortunately, Alisceon wasn’t such an existence. If Allen had the talent in his inventory, he would have already duplicated it and given it to Alisceon.

But it seemed that Allen could only teach Alisceon about magic one step at a time.
