[The Disparity in Ability]

“Hah…! Hah…! Shit!” (Amanai)

“What? That Diva-sama actually lost, ain’t that impossible?” (Yang)

As surrounding mobs lost consciousness and collapsed, Amanai whipped his tattered body, gritting his teeth and confronting Yang.

While he had dealt considerable damage to the opponent, probably due to the incomparable disparity in physical strength, Yang still had some spare strength left, though it could not be said that he was in good shape; Amanai, on the other hand, was in a not so optimistic condition where he might collapse at any moment if he were to lose focus.

(For the difference in level to be this hard to bridge…!)

Since he was born in this world until now, this was Amanai’s first time fighting against an opponent who had twice or more of his own level.

That was natural. When raising his level, he always took a safety margin, and to begin with, he was still forbidden from exploring high-level dungeons, so he could not be blamed for that.

However, it was undeniable that this time, his lack of experience in fighting against higher level opponents came to bite him.

Amanai could not realize the difference in status caused by the difference in level and how much difference it actually made.

And hard was not enough to describe how difficult it was for him to close their disparity in ability, despite the fact he had made use of his weaknesses from the original game and all the combat techniques he had cultivated until now.

“Because you guys resist, I could only get a rosary, well, my time is up now that the Diva has lost. What an unlucky day, don’t you think?”

Yang shook the blood-stained rosary in his hand.

Ethel, its original owner, was sweating behind Amanai while holding down the deep wound on her left hand with her right hand.

“Give it back…that’s my…!!” (Ethel)

“It’s your fault for letting it to get stolen, no? If you’re mad about it, then say your complaint to your boyfriend who couldn’t protect you.” (Yang)

“Stop your bullshit! Just drop the trash talk and give it back to me! If you do so, I’ll let you off!” (Ethel)

“Ahahaha! Please, stop putting on airs! The one who is in the position of letting the others off should be me, right?” (Yang)

Yang ridiculed the two and laughed loudly.

Although it was supposed to be a downhill battle due to the difference in affinity, yet, the opponents became fragile once their strategy collapsed, and now it could be said that the two people before him ended up covered in injuries.

Himself, on the other hand, did not get chance to fully display his power as a demon-kin and had not shown even one of the many items he had collected until now

The two before him knew too clearly of the disparity in their strength. Yet despite that, they still screamed in good spirits, so he could not help but to find them too comical.

“That being said, my time’s run out, so I’ll leave it here today. I have this tendency of not being able to settle down if I don’t complete a set items, so if you guys ever get such things, I’ll come to play with you again.” (Yang)

“Do you think I’ll let you escape…!” (Amanai)

“Oops, if you keep being disobedient, I might end up killing this girl, y’know?” (Yang)

Yang stretched out his arm and grabbed a girl from among the fallen mobs by her head and thrust her in front of Amanai.

The girl was Amanai’s childhood friend that had went berserk, ‘Akano Reika’; Yang lightly stroked her throat with his sword.

That alone made it impossible for both Amanai and Ethel to move, and the only thing they could do was glaring at him.

“You fucker——!” (Amanai)

“Did you honestly think I wouldn’t notice your friend? Your gaze blatantly showed it, you know. I was planning of using her as a shield in case my situation turns south, however, it turned out you guys weren’t strong enough to drive me to that point, that was laughable of me, wasn’t it? Well, I’ve made you an excuse to give up, so you have to stay quiet, okay?” (Yang)

The two could no longer do anything.

Yang, hugging Akano Reika with his atypical body, left the place while laughing eerily.

The two could only see him off; when Yang destroyed the doorway leading to the entrance hall and disappeared beyond, Amanai was finally able to break into a run with a jolt.

“Reikaa!!” (Amanai)

In the eyes of Amanai, who rushed into the entrance hall with a great momentum to the point of smashing through the wreckage of the doorway, was reflected the figure of Reika left in the center of the hall.

Amanai immediately rushed to Reika and held her up in his arms, before looking around; seeing that Yang had completely escaped, he clicked his tongue frustratedly.

“Dammit. I wasn’t able to do anything.” (Amanai)

His prediction missed, and he was toyed with by the situation; although there was a disparity in ability, this result could be said to be his complete defeat against the demon-kin.

Due to the fact that the efforts he had accumulated were seemingly useless, regrets that resembled irritation simmered inside Amanai.

He laid Reika down on a sofa at the entrance and returned to Ethel.

When he glanced at the stage, he couldn’t find Sakurai, he surmised that he probably no longer had a reason to stay in the opera house with the defeat of Luisina, his target.

“Kh…no, more importantly.” (Amanai)

Suppressing the urge that sprung up inside him at that moment, Amanai went to Ethel’s side.

Perhaps she, who was sitting in a seat, had been casting healing magic on herself, although her complexion was pale, her bleedings had stopped.

“I’m sorry. I couldn’t protect you.” (Amanai)

“It couldn’t be helped. Against such a strong enemy, I say we did well. Just being able to survive is a fortunate thing.” (Ethel)

“Your rosary…” (Amanai)

“…I’ll get it back, definitely. Of course, you’ll help me for free at that time, right?” (Ethel)

Forgetting about his negative thoughts thanks to Ethel who had been robbed of her pretentious looking smile, Amanai lent her his shoulders and headed toward the entrance.

He then sat down in the entrance hall and took care of her for a while.

Along with the sounds of heavy footsteps, he saw members of the knight order got in from the entrance of the entrance hall.

Taking in that sight, Amanai thought that this turmoil had ended for the time being and exhaled.

Then, protected by the knights, he slowly relaxed as he felt the strained string of tension in his heart came untied.
