Old Master Si furrowed his brow. He could not react accordingly to all that had currently transpired before him.
He initially thought Ye Qingtang was pulling pranks, never would he expect….
She could really come up with a prescription to save San-er’s life!
“What are you people waiting for? Serve tea for Miss Ye!” Old Master Si instructed after drawing a deep breath.
The attendants who stood idly by scampered out of the main hall after realizing Old Master Si had changed his tone. A quick witted one started serving Ye Qingtang like an important guest and presented her a cup of tea right away.
“Have a seat.” Though Old Master Si remained firm, his tone could be considered simmered down as compared to before.
Regardless of how much he loathed the Ye household, it’s a different story when Ye Qingtang’s prescription was really capable of saving Si Bai’s life.
Ye Qingtang received her tea, accepted Old Master Si’s offer, and took a seat.
Although the Ancient Medical Annals was lost since long ago, but in her past that was three hundred years from now, those annals were recovered and Ye Qingtang managed to browse through all that. With her photographic memory, she memorized everything. Si Bai’s condition might be an incurable disease to the physicians now, but three hundred years later, curing that was not much of a problem.
Si Bai felt relieved and returned to his seat as well. After witnessing those erratic changes in his grandfather’s countenance, he could not help but to chuckle to himself.
The main hall now exuded a rather subtle ambiance. Old Master Si seemed to be struggling to adjust his disposition over the matter, as he drank a few mouthfuls of tea without a word before fixating his deep-set eyes that seemed to pry into every nook and cranny onto Ye Qingtang.
“Why do you want to save him?” After a few moments, Old Master Si finally broke the silence and asked.
“We and the Ye household were sworn enemies. As a lady of the Ye household, why would you want to help us?” Old Master Si voiced his query, though now he believed her prescription to be real, but he could not figure out the reason behind her generosity.
Ye Qingtang replied: “The Ye household is no longer what it used to be.”
Old Master Si furrowed his brow at her answer.
“I believe Master Si is aware of my father’s poor health these recent years? Our Great Elder had long sought to subvert his position as the head of the household. Exploiting my father’s weakness, he managed to gain control over our household. My father was no longer the one in charge since then and almost everyone within the household had become the Great Elder’s accomplices. Judging from his ruthless ambition, I’m afraid neither my father nor I, as the heir to the household, will be pleasing to his eyes. It’s only a matter of time until I will be removed as well.” Ye Qingtang spoke in a calm and moderate tone. She knew that in order to earn Old Master Si’s trust, she had to confess the truth, otherwise the feud between their households would be a tough nut to crack; which was an obstacle to accomplish her objective.
Old Master Si frowned when he heard “The Great Elder”. He had suspected the Great Elder to be the one behind the poisoning of Si Bai’s mother since the beginning.
“Plotting against one’s family head and its successor is a heinous crime. Even if the Great Elder wishes to remove you from succession, he has to consider carefully. Odds are, if any rumor of your claims spreads around, he will, in fact, lose his grounds to fend for the position to the head of the household.” Old Master Si did not buy Ye Qingtang’s words so easily.
Ye Qingtang chuckled: “How hard can it be when he really sets his mind on it?”
After a short pause, she continued: “I’m not sure if Master Si had heard rumors of a lady from our household being scouted as a disciple, by the Cloud-Breaker’s sovereign just a few days ago? Her name is Ye You and she is the Great Elder’s granddaughter.”
