Chapter 1054: Mei Ling’s Puppet Skills

Instructor Ghast was curled up on the arena floor, hugging his legs. He had been completely traumatized. Pictures of porcelain dolls kept flashing through his mind. They were grabbing at his clothes and asking if he wanted to play.
Kana stood there and sighed as she waved her hand, erasing all memories of what just happened and putting Ghast asleep for a few minutes while she turned to Mei Ling, who was looking at the ground spinning her foot in the dirt with her hands behind her back. She was waiting to be scolded.
"Mei Ling." Kana looked at Mei Ling, who did not dare lift her head. "Explanation? This is a test, not a fight to the death. You know this, right?"
"Mm…. I just thought…. Since he was from the ghost race, he would want to meet some friends…." Mei Ling raised her head and flipped her hand. A small ghostly ball appeared. "These are made by me. They had some form of intelligence and can be considered souls. Big Sister Angelica even said I made them very well."
Kana's eyes softened as she walked over and pulled Mei Ling into a hug: "You are very talented!" Kana smiled happily. To think her daughter on her own was able to create artificial souls! She had no idea! Kana knelt down and looked at the soul in Mei Ling's hand and nodded. "This is very good. Have you created anything with these?"
"Mm… Nero!" Mei Ling called out. From Mei Ling's shadow, a girl the size of Mei Ling appeared. She resembled a human girl with a black gothic dress. Her long black hair fell down to her ankles. She stood just behind Mei Ling as if she was a servant.
"Oh!" Kana clapped her hands as she looked Nero over. "Very nicely done. So this is why you had Eve produce so many chemicals. You wanted to make synthetic skin. The bone and muscle structures are also nicely done. Hmmm? Mei, did you imbue magic into the metal itself?"
"Yes, the metal I could get at the time was not very strong, so I came up with a method using god runes to imbue it with mana to strength it by thousands of times." Mei Ling replied while blushing. Her Mama was praising her!
"Very, very good. She is almost as strong as you. You are close to perfection on her. But if you push it, you can make her even stronger than you, and then Mama will not need to worry so much." Kana had forgotten that she was to scold Mei Ling for using excessive force, but now she was very much excited to know her daughter had such amazing talent! She was able to create such a strong puppet that had sentience. And on top of that, she created a new kind of magic that let her hide her puppet in her shadow! It was the perfect place!
XY-89 watched the mother and daughter walk off stage and then looked at Ghast, who had awoken in a very confused state and wondered. If they should even continue. But since the rules were, rules XY-89 still continued the match. "Next up, Instructor Mills and Yana…."
Instructor Mills looked at Yana, who was walking up, and let out a long sigh…. He could only hope this girl was weaker, but sadly he was once again sent flying. Kana had to heal him once more and send him on his way. Yana only yawned and walked off stage. Next up was Instructor Ivy versus Kaliffia. Instructor Ivy did not even go to the center of the area before announcing Kaliffia had passed. She was not stupid enough to battle someone who was practically made of flames.
Once again, it was Instructor Ghast's turn. This time he was against Angelica, who sat on the ground reading a book. This action confused him as he asked: "We are about to battle if you do not show your strength, I can not pass you."
Angelica raised her eyes for a second before lowering them again to continue reading her book but her voice could be heard echoing through the arena. "Just tell them I passed."
"Yes, of course, you passed." Instructor Ghast suddenly said, stunning everyone, including himself. He did not mean to say that he did not understand. "Wait, that is not what I mean, Miss, you need…."
"I said, tell them I passed. Say another word pass that, and I will turn you into a real ghost. Now stop bothering me when I am reading!" Angelica snorted. Her words sounded arrogant, and many people wanted to complain, but they did not get to say a word when Instructor Ghast nodded his head. "You are right. You passed!" It was only now that Instructor Ghast realized that if the young woman in front of him wanted him to die, she only needed to say a word. This kind of power…. Truly terrifying!
Only four people had yet to go up. Creige, Tilia, Camlia, and Soli. XY-89 looked at the remaining people and sighed. He knew they would pass but felt bad that the three doing the tests would probably suffer once again. "Creige against Instructor Mills."
