A Plot
As the days passed, Kana was being taught the basics of many things. Normally a body fortification realmed cultivator would never be able to refine pills. They would have to until they were in the qi gathering realm. But because Kana could take spiritual qi into her body, although she could not store it, she could use it according to the teachings to do things like pill refinement, armaments, and resting formations.
Each day one of the head elders would come down and train Kana. After that, she was left on her own to cultivate. But Kana felt that maybe these old people from Moon Crest Academy were beginning to lose faith in her as she was to them still at the peak of body fortification. Sadly there was nothing she could do about that, as it took a lot to reach the halfway point to stage eleven. She still had a long way to go before reaching the next stage. Even she was disappointed by this speed.
It was on the fifth day after coming out of the dreaded grounds, and her run in with Wen Yang that Mei Ling came running into the courtyard. "Not good! Kana! Senior Sister Na killed Wen Yang and is about to be executed!"
Kana, who had been trying to cultivate, opened her eyes and shot out of her house to the front yard to find Mei Ling in tears running towards her. "What happened?"
"Se-Senior Sister Na had gotten a message that you were captured. When she arrived, not only did she not find you, but she found Wen Yang with over fifty other outer disciples. They surrounded her. I felt something was off, so I followed behind her secretly. What I saw was Senior Sister Na being attacked. She yelled for them to stop as they were from the same sect, but they refused. In the end, Senior Sister Na had no choice but to attack. She ended up killing half of Wen Yang's help and Wen Yang. The others ran off. The Moon Crest Academy's law enforcement came, and now they are fighting with Senior Sister Na wanting to arrest her and take her back for killing disciples from the same sect, which is a death sentence. They wouldn't even listen to her reasoning." Mei Ling was full of tears as she explained things. As soon as she saw Senior Sister Na in trouble, she ran to find Kana as Yi Tan was in seclusion. She had no one else she could rely on.
Kana's eyes turned cold. She felt something was off. "Did the law enforcement come right after Nana killed the others?"
"Huh? Yes... Yes, they did! But wait, how woul…" Mei Ling was a bright girl. She now realized something was very off.
"My guess was this was a setup or more like Wen Yang was used by someone to target Nana. I am not sure who is behind it, but if they are targeting Nana, they won't kill her right away." Kana grabbed her sword and attached it to her side. "Take me there."
"This way!" Mei Ling turned and ran out of the courtyard, Kana followed closely behind.
After running through the city a ways, they ended up in a small remote area of the city with run down buildings. As they got near a clearing, Kana could hear Liu Na's voice. "What do you mean!? I did not wish to kill them, but they attacked me first. There were fifty plus of them and one of me. Am I supposed to let them do what they want? If I did not defend myself, I would have been dead or worse!"
"Rules are rules! You killed disciples of the sect, so you will need to come back with us. If you behave, you may not end up with the death penalty." A man's voice was heard.
As Kana turned the corner, she saw four men in black robes with swords drawn and Liu Na standing in front of them with her sword drawn. The man in front was tall with bulky muscles. He seemed to have a strange light in his eyes as he looked at Liu Na.
"What rules!? It states in the rules if you have no choice when defending yourself, it is okay to kill. Plus, how would you even know what was going on? You four showed up right after it happened! You can't just tell me that you were walking by to buy some meat on a stick now can you? Do not think I am stupid, I know this was someone's plot." Liu Na knew something was up as soon as these four showed up. She was not dumb. Someone was plotting things from behind the scenes.
"Humph! Enough words, grab her!" The lead man in black yelled.
"Stop! I would like to see who is going to be touching my friend." Kana finally yelled out. She could tell these four were strong and that it would not be good if Liu Na was taken away by them.
"Who are you!?" The lead man asked as he turned towards Kana.
"Who I am is none of your business, but if you touch a single hair on her head, I will not hesitate to attack." Although these four men were from part of the law enforcement hall of Moon Crest Academy, they were all in the qi condensation realm, which although may be a challenge, was still within Kana's fighting range. At least enough if she needed to, she could grab Liu Na and run for it.
"Oh? Big words for a body fortification cultivator. You do realize we are all two realms over you, right? I would like to see just how you will stop us from fulfilling our duty." One of the men in black yelled out, his voice full of arrogance.
Kana snorted as she answered: "It's not how will I stop but how will you survive. You see, I have a thing for people who wish to commit sinister acts and think they can get away with it.. I don't know who is plotting what but since you dared to use my friend in your plots I will not let you off so easily."
