"Failed again!" Kana sighed as she took the flattened sheet of metal and tossed it back into the forge before blowing more fire on it. The light of her flames lit up the room and reflected off her pearly white skin. She had lost count of how many times she had failed so far. She first tried to forge some soft metal into a shirt using her normal forging technique. But she kept failing to fuse spiritual qi into the metal to change its properties.
The fusing process required spiritual qi to follow a certain path and form runic patterns at different points in the metal to create a kind of array that made the metal soft but still kept its normal durability. Although the process sounded easy when reading about it, when put into actual practice, Kana was having a headache.
Kana sat on her stool and looked at the metal in the forge that was glowing red, and sighed. "Do I need to do it in a special way? Wait… Didn't that lady in my dream demonstrate a kind of hammer technique?"
Kana thought back to what she thought was a dream and pursed her lips. She remembered the entire sequence, but she was unsure if she would be able to do it like that woman did. "One step at a time. I will work slowly and go from there."
As the hours passed and many more failures, Kana was not distressed because she had finally lit up her first runic marking. She had a smile on her face as she continued trying again and again. Kana had no idea how many days had passed. She only stopped forging to eat and sleep.
It was on this day that Kana discovered something truly amazing. "I broke through!?" She had broken through to become a stage twelve body fortification cultivator.? She was only a single step away from becoming a qi gathering cultivator.? But the fact that she had broken through while forging really surprised her.
Kana felt that forging was in her blood and was something she loved to do. So no matter how many times she messed up and had to start over, she still found it fun, even if she did get frustrated sometimes.
"Finally!" Kana looked at the metal in her hand that was as soft and flexible as cloth with a smile. She hurriedly slipped it on, covering her bottom. "Perfect fit. Not bad black with a reddish hue."
Kana was very proud of her accomplishment. She even quickly took out more ore and went to work on her next piece. She still had two more pieces to make. With each stroke of her hammer, she got better and better at the hammering technique that she learned from the woman. By the time she was done, she had gotten so good she could be considered at the minimum a novice at the technique. Or in terms that they would use on the planet she was on, she had reached the initial phase of her hammer technique.
"There!" Kana felt happy to no longer be naked. She now had underwear, shorts, and a top on. Although it did closely resemble what she used to wear when she was younger, but it fit well and was easier to move in than the robes the people of this world used. Although, she knew that she would probably get yelled at for showing too much skin when she went back.
She looked herself over and moved around a bit. She found the soft metal armor to be truly amazing. It was not only very comfortable but so sturdy that it would be hard to cut her if she was stabbed in those spots. But the protection portion of the armor was not her goal. She just wanted to cover her important bits.
Kana stood up and stretched. She looked over at her sword and walked over to it, drawing it from its sheath. "Should I try to fix this?"
Kana was a little hesitant as she did not know if she would mess the sword up. She already felt a strong connection to it that was hard to explain. If she messed up and broke something and lost that connection, she would feel sad. After mulling over it for a while, Kana decided to hold off for the time being and sheathed it again. "I will wait for now. I am close to breaking through, and my foundation is still solid. I should head out and hopefully find a chance to breakthrough."
After forging all her clothes, she surprisingly found herself to be knocking on the door to qi gathering. She had reached the peak of body fortification stage twelve. Kana put away all her things and went to the entrance of the room. After melting her temporary welding job, she took the metal sheet off and stuck it to the side. She turned and looked at the room once more before bowing her head and saying: "To the person who left so many things here, I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Leaving these words behind, Kana turned and began her ascent up the slope she had tumbled down when she first came here. Kana only climbed a short way when she frowned. "I guess I will need to be in dragon form to get up here."
The slope was steep and narrow. Her current body size was too big. This thought alone made her grind her teeth as she knew she was nowhere close to being overweight! Kana entered the room again and transformed. She was expecting to pick up her new clothes after she transformed, but to surprise, the clothes transformed with her transforming into a set of black, red armor that covered her head, back, and tail. "This…. This…. Is so cool!"
While she was happy with what just happened, she was confused as to why the armor suddenly turned hard instead of soft. She had created soft metal clothing, not hard armor. Feeling a bit scared that she might have just ruined her new clothes, kana quickly transformed back as she checked her clothes, a smile formed on her lips.. "I never thought I would create such a strange set of armor."
