Chapter 716: The Search For Frost Dew Grass Part 2
"Hah!" Nana swung her sword to block in the incoming claw and was thrown back. "Nana!"
"I'm fine! Hit the joints between its armor plates!" Nana had been trying to aim for the weak points on the armored wolves, but because of how fast they are, it was not an easy task. She wiped the dirt off her face and crawled back up on her feet. A rank three demonic beast was no joke for those of her cultivation level. They could easily fight on par with peak qi condensation cultivators. If it was any other team, they would have already been wiped out by now.
Nana looked around and only saw Fei on the back line and knew Kana was moving in the shadows. Otherwise, they would have already been surrounded and killed by now. "Even when she can't get near us, she is still saving us…."
"Monk Fist!" Zhong's fist slammed into the armored wolf, making a huge dent in its armor. But in return, the armored wolf spun around and kicked him with its hind legs.
"Hah! Yah!" Fan stabbed down, sinking his sword into the armored wolf's eye, causing it to roar out in pain.
"Good job, Fan!" Nana yelled as she followed with a slice on the armored wolf's knee. After being stabbed in the eye, it raised its front leg to swat at Fan, exposing its knee joint, making an easier target for Nana to attack.
On the side, watching from within the tree line, Kana was busy counting all the best cores she had. "Not a bad haul. Ten cores. There was more out here than I had originally thought. On top of that, Nana and the rest are doing really well. Nana is a born leader."
Kana watched everything from the side with no intention of interfering in their fight. As a cultivator, she knew how important battles like this were. While they were having a hard time, they were also nowhere close to losing the fight. And if they were, she would yell to have them all retreat to a safe distance as she came in to handle the situation.
It took a while, but after almost an hour long battle, the fight finally came to an end. Nana was able to get the last blow in with a slice to the underside of the armored wolf's neck. Kana walked out, clapping her hands with a smile on her face. "You guys were amazing. The teamwork you four had was really good. Makes me jealous…."
"You say we are amazing. How many did you kill by yourself?" Nana asked with pursed lips.
Kana shook her head as she said: "No, it's not how many I killed because it's not really fair to use my death element as a means of judging my strength. If I were to fight one of those normally, it would be a difficult battle."
"Ah! You said it would be difficult, but you didn't say you wouldn't lose! That makes us look bad since we are all a higher cultivation than you." Nana acted as if she was being bullied causing everyone to laugh. She laid flat on her back. Resting her exhausted limbs. She didn't even care if her legs were soaking in the armored wolf's blood.
"No, Nana, you are forgetting something very important!" Kana paused as she suddenly transformed and made a cute cat pose. "I am a dragon, after all, Nya!"
"Nya?" Zhong did the same pose as Kana while tilting his head to the side.
"What is Nya?" Fan asked.
"Yeah, Kana, what is Nya?" Fei was also interested in what Nya meant.
Kana pursed her lips and felt a little sad that no one got it. "It's a cat!"
"Cat????" All four asked at the same time.
Kana lowered her head, feeling defeated. This world didn't have normal house cats! "Never mind, it would be too hard to explain."
"Anyway, your battle was very good." Kana said, getting back on topic as she transformed back into her humanoid form. "But we should hurry up and move. Fei and Nana also need to wash off. So do you boys, but girls get to go first. Also…. Nana, your leadership skills were amazing."
Nana blushed, hearing Kana's praise. She had only taken the lead because she did not see anyone else doing it. It was just one of those things where you do it because you have to. But when she saw everyone else nodding their heads, Nana lowered her head and smiled. She was embarrassed but proud of herself at the same time.
"Come on. We should go." Kana urged everyone up so that they could head out before more demonic beasts showed up. Although Kana could protect them all, she did not want any accidents to happen.
The group traveled until nightfall before they found a water source. Kana stood watch while the other two girls cleaned off. She did not think either boys would peek, but it was more of protecting them from any demonic beasts that might attack. She also did the same for the boys. But she did not stay as close as she did with the girls. She stood much further away since no man in her eyes would have a better body and meat stick than her handsome husband.
Two campfires were made that night. One for Kana to roast her snake meat and another for the rest. Mainly because the Nana and the rest could not eat the snake meat, Kana had due to the death element that was infused into the meat due to being around kana and her sword qi that injected death element into the snake demonic beast when she was attacking it, but while eating Kana sat closer to the group to join in on their conversation. Nana was being praised for her leadership skills, and Fan was trying to look amazing for stabbing the armored wolf in the eye. It seemed this battle brought the group even closer together, and Nana had now become the second leader of the group under Kana. Not only was she stronger, but her leadership skills were just as good as Kana's.
When the next morning light cracked over the horizon, everyone was stirred awake when Fan yelled out: "I found a cave!"
