Demon (1)

Anna’s eyes widened and her lips trembled not in surprise, but in panic.

The tears from before that had flowed from pain blurred her vision, so she could not see the man’s appearance clearly. She only knew that the other party was a young man with a nice voice.

She was also taken aback when she was bridal-carried onto the carriage, but her knee was injured and, frightened in the moment, she had no time to react.

When she wiped away the tears, she heard the man’s proposal.

But she didn’t have time to be surprised, because when her sight returned, she saw a scene that almost made her scream.

——There was a demon with goat horns hidden in the body of this handsome man!

Anna had been in this strange world for several days. She knew that this world possessed sorcerers and magic spells, and that demons didn’t only exist in fables.

But in these few days, these supernatural elements were too far removed from her life. She had no genuine feelings towards the subject, until today, when she saw a real, living and breathing demon possessing a handsome man; he had even proposed to her!

Although the body that Anna had transmigrated into was considered beautiful, it made absolutely no sense for the demon to fall in love at first sight. So, there was only one reason for the demon to propose to her—he had taken a fancy to her soul, and wanted her to agree to the proposal as a way to trick her into signing a contract.

Anna grew up listening to “One Thousand and One Nights”, “Aesop’s Fables” and other stories; she knew that most of the people who signed contracts with the devil had no good end.

“I reject.” Anna replied with fear and faint anticipation.

When she saw the other party darkening his face because of her rejection, the fear in her heart almost jumped out of her throat.

Would this demon kill her from anger?

She almost desperately thought, after she died, would she traverse home?

After a brief moment of surprise, Rothgarr thought that the other party hadn’t heard him clearly.

“Beautiful lady, maybe I haven’t said it clearly enough. I don’t merely want you to be my lover, I want you to marry me under the witness of the pastor, take my surname, and become Mrs. Wilson.” Rothgarr suppressed the impatience in his heart as he recalled Parrish’s memories.

He thought he was restrained enough, but because his goal was not achieved immediately, his tone inevitably took on a bit of murderous intent.

…This is too scary!

Anna shivered. If she continued to refuse, he would really kill her, right?

But if she agreed to his proposal, her fate would be worse than death!

Anna lowered her head. Her hands clung to her skirt in fear, turning her knuckles white. After a short silence, she had no choice but to reply in desperation, “I…reject.”

In the next moment, a raging malice in the carriage made Anna suddenly stiff all over her body.

She just prayed silently in her heart, hoping that she could go back to modern times after she died.

Rothgarr nearly raised his hand at the woman.

Just great. Before, he thought that he could give her a swift death once she agreed. He did not expect that she would waste his time playing tricks with him.

Had it not been for agreeing to Balan not to use force, he would have choked her neck to force her to agree, and let her know how stupid it was of her to playing tricks on a Great Lord of The Abyss before she died.

“Beautiful lady, I am a gentleman. Although I adore you very much, if you refuse to agree to my marriage proposal, then I can only reluctantly let you go.”

Rothgarr said this without a smile on his face.

This would be the last chance he gave this human woman.

If she dared to continue playing with him, then he would, as a “thank you,” let her live to the end of her life, and torture her every day until she died.

Anna was stunned when she heard the demon’s words.

“Set you free”…

There was such a good thing?!

Now, Anna became even more determined. She raised her head to look at him, but when she saw the evil demon hiding under that handsome face, she lowered her head in horror.

“I… don’t deserve you, please allow me to refuse.” She gritted her teeth and spoke softly from her heart.

Rothgarr fell into a long silence.

Was it because he hadn’t been in the human realm for too long? Had this human realm turned into something he doesn’t recognize?

He looked at the human woman whose head was lowered. Blue veins had appeared on her hands from clutching the corners of her skirt too tightly. He tried very hard to control the urge to strangle her neck and force her to agree.

Since he had promised Balan, he would not go back on his word.

“Where do you live? I’ll escort you home.” Rothgarr had practically enunciated every word.

Anna heard the demon’s words and sensed the maliciousness that could not be hidden, she was about to cry.

The demon said he wanted to escort her home! Did this mean he was never going to let her go?

But she thought about it again, she couldn’t possibly not go home. If a demon truly wanted to know where she lived, it wouldn’t be too hard for him.

“My home is on Pomegranate Lane, you can just escort me to the entrance of the alley.” Anna whispered back, her tone very respectful.

Since she couldn’t resist it, then she might as well accept it…

Rothgar didn’t know where Pomegranate Lane was, but he knocked on the side of the carriage: “Did you hear that?”

The soundproofing of this carriage was subpar. The two people outside were actually able to hear the general conversation going on inside the carriage. The driver immediately said: “Yes, Young Master Parrish!”

The four-wheeled carriage that had been parked finally began to move. The carriage driver and the male servant sitting outside were quiet. Only the rumbling sound of the carriage and the sound of people on the street coming in through the walls of the carriage were heard.

Anna lowered her head and did not speak, and she did not dare to look up at “Young Master Parrish” for fear that her eyes and expression would reveal something.

It would be fine once she got home, it would be fine once she got home
